Village Garden Store - They chopped off a lot of the roots before transplanting a large tree bare root.

It's May 2025 and here to provide update on large trees we bought from Pittsford Tree and Landscape…read more(aka Village Garden Store) and they planted in Fall 2022. We've been trying for two years to get them to take responsibility and honor their written guarantee but to no avail. The attached photos were taken on May 7, 2025. They show the ridiculous way they chopped the root ball and then planted it bare root. This Sunburst Locust tree never had a chance of successfully transplanting. What replays with us are Bevin's initial words when we originally reached out with concerns about the health of the tree. She said, "Don't worry, I've never replaced a Locust tree." Well that's still true! Even when the tree dies and we are out significant money and need to start over with a reputable nursery, she NEVER REPLACED A LOCUST TREE!! AVOID BOTH PITTSFORD TREE & LANDSCAPE AND VILLAGE GARDEN STORE!!! Dishonest and a disgrace to small businesses. Original post: They won't honor their written 2 year guarantee on 2 large trees we purchased and they planted in October 2022. We have been trying to address issues with these trees since spring 2023 and still don't have a resolution 18 months later! Bevin never returns our calls or emails so we have driven to the nursery several times. Each time she lies to us and promises to come to inspect and trim the trees but does not follow through. She offered to extend the warranty to 3 years but refused to put it in writing. My last communication was requesting resolution sent a month ago via USPS Certified Mail...no response! We love to support small businesses but this one is terrible. They use the name of Pittsford Tree and Landscape, as well as Village Garden Store & Nursery. Attaching a picture of our Sunburst Locust tree in August...not exactly thriving.

Good quality trees but installation is sloppy with crooked trees and broken branches. Asked to have…read moresomeone come and look at trees, never heard back. We had to call several times to get an installation date. They are not very proactive with their customer service.

Another year, another trip to Wilbert's! My partner and I made our second annual quest for the…read moreperfect tree this past weekend, this time with our puppy along for the ride. Wilbert's is a MASSIVE Christmas tree farm that spreads across both sides of Salt Road. They have pre-cut and u-cut, with the u-cut being significantly cheaper. We grabbed a saw and a cart and went on our journey. We probably should have gone across the street to hunt for our tree, as the POSTED SIGN suggested. I am sure there is a safe way to cross the street and get to another path of trees, but the dog was being annoying and we needed to get a move on hence...we went to the more baren side of the field. After finding some potentials that were dead on the inside, we landed on our perfect (slightly smaller this year) tree! The wrap up process is really easy and they even provide twine to adhere the tree to your car. You can show up with nothing, chop down a tree, and drive away with it all with the complimentary materials they have on hand. When I lived in an apartment, I headed down to the boy scout Christmas Tree station that was walkable from my house, and I think they were charging ~$65 per tree. Not the case at Wilbert's where a u-cut will only set you back $45. I highly recommend grabbing your fam and your pooch and heading to Wilbert's this holiday season!

I'm not sure how many different kinds of trees they have but i know it's more than 3. I don't know all the names of the kinds of trees because we always went for a Douglas fir. Each entrance has a team of guys and girls to check you out, shake the tree, cut off the bottom branches and help you put it on the car. They also have manual saws for you to borrow. The price does seem to go up every year which I'm not fond of but that's what keeps them in business I guess. They also sell wreaths and precut trees at a lower price. It's a great place to go to keep up a tradition and if you want a real tree for Christmas

We were saddened to find out our usual family run Christmas tree farm had some changes in the…read moreowners health and they were unable to care for the trees as well as they had in the past. So we were on the hunt for a new place. And, where else would we look but Yelp??? We found Grzendas farm right in Livonia, of a major village road at it heads out of town. It was a crap shoot though as you cannot see trees from the road. Once you're there, you're committed to the process. The farm had ample parking with more handicapped spots than general spots. They have a nice little area for premade wreaths at the office. And on our day there was enough staff to process transactions quickly. Two tractors cycle thru the farm picking up people to drive to the field then return with their selections. The wagon rides are COLD and they move slowly. Bundle up for a ride. They took us to a field that had the most GLORIOUSLY shaped trees. Each tree had attention given to it. Each tree looked amazing. My preference is a concolor tree which gives a beautiful pine scent accentuated with some citrus notes. It's the only tree I will buy. They have a TON. Upon return from the field the staff gives your tree a shake on their machine to remove loose needles, critters and other tree inhabitants. Then they bundle it up and help secure it on your vehicle. Pricing was higher than other places I've seen. BUT it was totally worth it. Make sure you trim the tree before you measure it for height. In my instance the tree had about a two foot top branch which we trimmed about 8 inches off to make it manageable for our star. This is our new tree place. Always. Merry Christmas!
