Another year, another trip to Wilbert's! My partner and I made our second annual quest for the…read moreperfect tree this past weekend, this time with our puppy along for the ride. Wilbert's is a MASSIVE Christmas tree farm that spreads across both sides of Salt Road. They have pre-cut and u-cut, with the u-cut being significantly cheaper. We grabbed a saw and a cart and went on our journey. We probably should have gone across the street to hunt for our tree, as the POSTED SIGN suggested. I am sure there is a safe way to cross the street and get to another path of trees, but the dog was being annoying and we needed to get a move on hence...we went to the more baren side of the field. After finding some potentials that were dead on the inside, we landed on our perfect (slightly smaller this year) tree! The wrap up process is really easy and they even provide twine to adhere the tree to your car. You can show up with nothing, chop down a tree, and drive away with it all with the complimentary materials they have on hand. When I lived in an apartment, I headed down to the boy scout Christmas Tree station that was walkable from my house, and I think they were charging ~$65 per tree. Not the case at Wilbert's where a u-cut will only set you back $45. I highly recommend grabbing your fam and your pooch and heading to Wilbert's this holiday season!

I'm not sure how many different kinds of trees they have but i know it's more than 3. I don't know all the names of the kinds of trees because we always went for a Douglas fir. Each entrance has a team of guys and girls to check you out, shake the tree, cut off the bottom branches and help you put it on the car. They also have manual saws for you to borrow. The price does seem to go up every year which I'm not fond of but that's what keeps them in business I guess. They also sell wreaths and precut trees at a lower price. It's a great place to go to keep up a tradition and if you want a real tree for Christmas

For many years while I was growing up, my mother and I would head to Owego to shop in a store…read morecalled "Hand of Man" - at the time, it was VERY Christmas-focused. While we're not big shoppers, it was definitely a holiday tradition... so it was quite sad when Hand of Man closed (after closing in 2019, I believe the store has since re-opened as a general gift shop & home décor-type store). Cut to a couple of months ago, and one of my mother's friends mentioned a Christmas store in Lyons, NY that we might want to visit. We discovered it was this store, fully known as Evolve For the Home - The Christmas Store. I took a vacation day so that we could run a number of holiday-related errands, and stopping at this store was on the list. We weren't really sure what we'd find, but we were pleasantly surprised once we entered the store and it felt somewhat reminiscent of our visits to Hand of Man. There are various Christmas tree displays set up throughout the store, full of ornament and various design colors and themes - including a "Life is better at the beach" tree display, and a corner of cardinal-themed decorations. There's a large variety of ornament, décor, and other home good-options. and I managed to find a couple interesting ornaments - including a bowl of ramen ornament, as well as a packet of Twizzlers ornament (which reminded me of my bff, as he's OBSESSED with Twizzlers). Very cute. It's worth noting that some of the items, including ornaments, are more expensive here than other stores. The "old world"-style glass ornaments probably average $20-$25, and I'm not going to be buying many ornaments at that price range - even if I really like the design. My mother and I each ended up picking up more items than we expected. The folks that were tending the checkout area were lovely, and ensured that we had the boxes that we needed and everything to keep our purchases protected. TL;DR All in all, I enjoyed this store a lot more than I thought I would - and it's nice to have as an option if my mother and I want to bring back one of our holiday shopping traditions.

The donuts were warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Paired with hot apple cider it's a classic fall treat. Don't skip the apple fritters which are sweet, crispy, and loaded with flavor. As for the fun activities: Pedal cars are at the top of the list & turned into a full on race for the kids The corn maze and tree maze were cleverly designed. Both fun and challenging enough. So many pumpkins to pick from & you can borrow one of the wagons near the entrance to tote your pumpkins/belongings around The animals were a hit with the younger kids. Super cute and well cared for. Tons of games, hoops, and activities to keep everyone busy. The café had great snacks and drinks when we needed a break The jump trampoline and zip lines added a burst of energy and adventure to our visit and a hit!!! There's truly something here for everyone from toddlers to grandparents. We left with full hearts (and a dozen donuts). Highly recommend spending a day here (they have season pass so check that out too) you'll leave with great memories and probably a sugar rush!!! Fast & friendly service with great value Admission includes all of the activities listed above - a great value if you ask me! Adults $15

However, the woman at the front desk in the gift shop was rude. She was annoyed that we wanted to purchase a tree late in the day (we called to make sure it was OK to arrive at 4:30pm before we arrived). She made a comment about "the next time someone calls about coming in at 5pm I'm telling them no" right in front of us. We usually purchase items from the gift shop in addition to the tree but, after that encounter, we left without shopping (loss on their part as we normally spend $100-$200 in the gift shop). We'll have to consider whether or not we return next year for a tree or go somewhere else.
