After years of trauma with another dentist in Salinas -- full extractions in 2017, implants not finished until 2022, and teeth placed so wrong my whole face changed shape -- I thought I was just aging badly. Dr. Herrera was the one who identified that it was actually the previous implant placement causing it. That alone was such a relief. When an implant with three teeth fell out this past August, I panicked. I'd planned to go to UCSF to save money, but they wanted to do zygomatic implants over a full year, with 2-3 months of no teeth and constant drives to San Francisco. After a consultation, Dr. Herrera's office called and offered to do the full surgery for $8,000 less than UCSF quoted. I couldn't believe it. I would add a picture but it's just not doing it justice! He did my surgery on September 9, and I walked out with temporary teeth instead of going months without any. I'm 67 and swell/bruise easily, so I waited a few extra days before getting them put in -- but that's just my body, not his work. I cried tears of joy. Huge thanks to his incredible staff -- Heidi, Rosa, Mayra, Melissa, Alejandro and a female anesthesiologist who was fabulous.Everyone was compassionate, empathetic, and gentle. I was scared of the pain of getting an I.V. for a few reasons. Dr Bhaskar told me that he would use a 24 gauge needle. He also made a special request to have a pediatric anesthesiologist, Dr. Stephen Long, do the insertion and procedure. Dr. Long called me the night before. He had a very calming and empathetic attitude. He listened to my fears and requests, (and didn't act like I was being foolish) assuring me he would do his best. It went flawlessly. He also put anti-nausea medication in the i.v., and I didn't get sick at all afterwards. Dr. Bhaskar's entire staff are all efficient, really nice and helpful, with a special thanks to Elizabeth who answered my numerous questions. Highly recommend Dr. Bhaskar and his team.

But his credentials look good so I still considered him. I asked for a second opinion and paid another $150 to talk to Dr. Bush in the same practice. I was willing to do that to get the best care. Ultimately, I chose Dr. Weaver because he is also an MD and I would need to be put under. Today was supposed to be my surgery. I arrived on time and waited in the office for an hour. When I asked what was going on, the reception said they were behind and fixing up two rooms for the other person in the lobby so the surgeon could work on us both. What?? I am here for surgery, not a tandem get er' done fix it. To top it off, at that moment, after waiting an hour, I found out I had been booked with Dr. Bush and not the doctor I had requested! Wow! I was Refered to "Dr Weaver" personally by Johnson Dental next door. When he came into my…read moreappointment to be evaluated for oral surgery, he told me that my dentist was the wrong person to diagnose the problem with dental extrusions going up into both of my sinus cavities. After cutting down my dentist, who was the one doctor who DID read my CT scan and identified the problem in the first place, he continued to talk about why he wouldn't do anything about it. I recorded a video of his "findings" and showed it to my referring dentist. She was stunned by his arrogance, and couldn't believe he would undercut her like that when the diagnosis of extrusion in my sinuses were so clear on the CT scan she had just done... and that I brought in with me. Weaver sent me to a ENT doc, who said Dr Weaver didn't have any idea what he was talking about at all. I was going to ignore this and let my dental insurance deal with him and cover this. Months later I got a bill from some doctor collective billing company in Michigan saying I owed another $120 for a 20min consultation where this guy spent me of his time telling me how bad my other doctors was. I just couldn't pay it in good conscience. Justin Weaver is a good looking guy, and I'm sure he knows and uses it to his advantage. Unfortunately he's gotten away with bluster, cutting other good doctors down, and passing off the responsibility for the work he is supposed to be an expert in, by saying they are wrong and he is right. His opinion meant absolutely zero in my case, and I can't believe my dental insurance company paid him a dime for his bill!

I am still in the healing phase of the procedure, but my experience proved nothing to be concerned about. The ladies in both the office and those who assisted Dr. Lloyd were approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful. They took the time to review anything I had questions about in person and via the phone. I was forewarned that getting the insurance estimate would take some time. I watched the process online and know it was my insurance company that took so long. The text communications about appointments and the videos on what to expect were very useful. They prepped me well for the day of the procedure. I showed up relaxed (special thanks to the Valium) and before I knew it, I was in recovery. So far, everything is going smoothly, and I am healing well.
