Here's the updated version: --- I can't recommend Dr. Andre Herrera and his team enough. After years of trauma with another dentist in Salinas -- full extractions in 2017, implants not finished until 2022, and teeth placed so wrong my whole face changed shape -- I thought I was just aging badly. Dr. Herrera was the one who identified that it was actually the previous implant placement causing it. That alone was such a relief. When an implant with three teeth fell out this past August, I panicked. I'd planned to go to UCSF to save money, but they wanted to do zygomatic implants over a full year, with 2-3 months of no teeth and constant drives to San Francisco. After a consultation, Dr. Herrera's office called and offered to do the full surgery for $8,000 less than UCSF quoted. I couldn't believe it. I would add a picture but it's just not doing it justice! He did my surgery on September 9, and I walked out with temporary teeth instead of going months without any. I'm 67 and swell/bruise easily, so I waited a few extra days before getting them put in -- but that's just my body, not his work. I cried tears of joy. Huge thanks to his incredible staff -- Heidi, Rosa, Mayra, Melissa, Alejandro and a female anesthesiologist who was fabulous.Everyone was compassionate, empathetic, and gentle. Dr. Herrera extracted my old, infected deciduous premolar that was calcified and in a tricky spot. I'm a particularly difficult patient (anxious and in need of extra assurance as well as pain management...a dentist once told me he would charge double if I screamed), but my fears were for naught. Dr. Nordloff performed my surgery; during the consultation at the Watsonville office, he took the time to answer my questions, explain his recommendations and treatment plan, and then go over the timeline for recovery and future procedures I need. When I arrived for my surgery this morning at the Salinas office, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The staff was welcoming and professional, and Dr. Nordloff was again very clear and attentive to my comfort and questions. The surgery was painless and faster than I expected. If you need an oral surgeon, Dr.Herrera is the best for many reasons. His staff is excellent in the TLC area ( blanket, headphones, explanations, calling home to make sure I was ok or had questions). He is a genius at making procedures almost painless. He is kind and caring, though serious at first. When there was a concern a week after a procedure, they got me in and checked it out and took care of the situation . Had a 6 month follow up from a tooth extraction and bone graft. I received a CT scan to tell me if I had enough bone for an implant in my back molar. I usually have anxiety with appointments for procedures - I worry about not fully understanding what I am getting into. Dr. Herrera was very thorough in his explanation of the implant procedure for the length of bone I had, and was good at answering any questions I had. My appointment was at 2, and I was done by 2:30.
