Dr Perry Silva has no bedside manner whatsoever, my daughter had an emotional distressing reaction to the anesthesia and he did not treat her with compassion or respect at all. He was completely unprofessional and doesnt care. I filed a complaint and instead of apologizing for his unprofessionalism he argued with me. read more

RUN...Do not make the same mistake that I did. I had the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a dentist (and I've been to western dental). This Doctor does not have any patience. His bedside manner couldn't be worse. I went this morning to have a tooth pulled. This tooth has been in pain lately. Because I was expressing the fact that I was in pain, he continued to get upset with me. He threatened to stop working on me 3 times during the 30 minute procedure. He raised his voice asking if I thought he was a magician and finally he threw his gloves on the table and walked out. I literately felt like I was in a nightmare. I couldn't believe how unprofessional he was. Take my advice, this dentist is awful. read more

I am presently going to Dr Silva for extensive work. He is obviously very experience and skilled. He took time to explain options pro and con. His staff is excellent and will take time to explain and answer any and all questions. I trust him immensley. I am going to have work done in two weeks and I have every bit of confidence in his skills. read more

A co-worker told me to go to a particular dentist (NOT Dr. Silva) for an implant. She said I would love him, because he is so friendly. Well, he did chat up a blue streak when I saw him, and his office was full of fancy furniture and nice carpeting, with lots of staff standing around, smiling. I asked him about a possible complications, and either he could not explain it, or did not want to bother. He said he "took" my insurance, but then I found out it was going to cost me $8,000+ in addition! For one implant! In desperation, I picked Dr. Silva out of a list on my insurance website. What a difference! His offices (Monterey and Salinas) are clean and comfortable, but not Architectural Digest material. The doctor himself has work to do, and is not overly fond of schmoozing and idle talk. But he KNOWS his profession, and his clinical staff are highly trained and compassionate. [He does have one grumpy person in the front office.] Ask him any dental question, and he will explain it to you in as much detail as you wish. He is just not stand-up comic material. Also, my charges were 4 or 5 times less than the other fellow! I'm a fan! read more

My experience was very disappointing with Dr. Silva. His lack of empathy and understanding is disturbing and humiliating. His terrible manners were devastating. Is very sad and is very inhumane to treat a potential patient in severe pain in such a horrible way. His lack of kindness and understanding for the pain and suffering was easy to see. He got very angry upset and frustrated with me because I was asking questions about the process and procedure(oral surgery for a tooth that was infected as a result of a roots fracture) I needed and extraction and an implant ). He concerns was more about his time and not my situation. After I saw his reaction I apologized and removed myself from his presence. I'm so sorry I was recommended to his practice. Please run from his practice if u r looking for help kindness and compassion. The only reason that I'm giving one star is because this app is requesting it. read more

I too want to start my review by saying I believe Dr.Perry Silva is a good oral surgeon. However, I was very unhappy with some of his demeanor, the behavior of his staff, and his "unwillingness" to return phone calls! After removing a wisdom tooth, and dealing with long term complications, he ultimately "Threw" me out of his practice- a fact that I find disturbing on many levels. I also believe that his assistant a few years ago made my "Drysocket" problem worse by telling me on the phone that I "did not have it". When I asked to talk to the doctor I was denied access. No return calls over two weeks! and then (yes I went back).... the big boot after another procedure cutting into my gum and removing "popcorn" like bone growths that were protruding through the gums in five places. This was not most likely his fault, and he did fix it ultimately... but he was rather impatient with me. No excuse for his no response to calls. His office staff in my opinion "oversteps" their place as "assistants" at least the one that dealt with me did. His bad attitude towards the patients emotional "distress and concerns" and the big boot for no reasonable explanation provoked me into writing this review. read more

Dr Silva put in my second implant, and now I need a third, unfortunately. I don't remember the chairside manner of Dr Silva, and frankly I don't care. But the oral surgeon in Livermore who looked at my xrays this month (and pulled a molar in preparation for my next implant) remarked at least three times on the excellence of the work that had been done in my mouth. He was curious who did it, and when I asked why, he said he respects good workmanship. Mind you, this from an oral surgeon who does implants himself and repairs bad implant jobs. He also suggested that if Monterey is still convenient for me, I should have the third implant done by the same person. Apparently it's important to get the angle of the titanium screw right, especially with side-by-side implants, because too much pressure concentrated in a small area of the jaw will break the bone. My implants had been put in expertly and judiciously. So there you go--a specialist's perspective on Silva's work. read more

I am very grateful to Dr. Silva to have taken great care of me while my family was on vacation in Monterey after my wisdome teeth were removed. The dry socket I developed put me in a lot of pain, and after my visit I was completely pain free and able to enjoy the time with my family! read more

I am changing this review in light of Dr. Siva's departure from the office where he formerly worked, and setting up his own staff in another Monterey Location. Most of my concerns about my experience dealt with his staff, and not the care that was rendered. I returned to Dr. Silva for a check up of the work done, and found a very professional staff that was both friendly and competent. Dr. Silva clearly answered my questions regarding my oral surgery status, relying on his examination and full mouth scan. read more

I have been to Dr. Silva for two separate procedures involving implant surgery. I have been very satisfied with the results both times. Not only did he perform in a very professional and friendly manner, his staff was very helpful from the first time I visited him to my last visit today. I plan to have more work done in the future, and I will return to Dr. Silva. Both my procedures were done at his Salinas office. read more

It is hard for me to imagine that Janet G and Paula S went to the same Dr. Perry Silva that I went to. Yesterday I had five teeth extracted. This is something that I have been putting off and dreading for a long time. Dr. Silva and his staff treated me wonderfully throughout the process. They were understanding of my fear and did everything possible to put me at ease. during the weeks leading up to the surgery, i called Dr. Silva's office three times. Every time I was treated kindly on the phone. Twice I had specific questions for Dr. Silva, and both times he called me back to answer them in person. The actual surgery went much better than I could have imagined. The last thing I remember is Dr, Silva inserting the IV and telling me that he would let me know when he was about to give me the sedation. The next thing I knew, my wife was in the room to take me home. I understand that not everyone will have the exact same experience, but unfortunately it has been my observation in life that the people who write reviews on yelp are the ones who want to vent or complain. I just wanted to balance these other reviews out with my own experience. I would gladly recommend Dr Silva and his staff to anyone who needs oral surgery. read more

Dr. Silva is the best dental surgeon in town as far as I am concerned. One of my children had a bad experience at another dental surgeon (apparent poor choice of pre-op sedative for a highly nervous patient) and we then were fortunately referred to Dr. Silva. Dr. Silva took care of the sedative, i.v. and extraction perfectly. He gave my child a sedative for my child's first major dental work (my child was very nervous about the extraction) and Dr. Silva somehow made my child feel comfortable and did the i.v. and extraction. For me, Dr. Silva did excellent tooth implant work and explained everything happening really well. As a parent who has moved a lot, I have met a lot of dentists and specialists. Dr. Silva is a great dental surgeon and really cares about doing excellent work and being friendly. read more

DON'T TRUST THIS GUY or his " sales staff. I spent hundreds just to talk to him. He doesn't care about his patients just making money. Dr Silva is the best oral surgeon. I am very grateful to have Dr Silva remove my four wisdom teeth. I was very nervous before I met with Dr Silva, but after I met with Dr Silva I felt very comfortable. My dad is a very particular man and my dad felt very comfortable with Dr Silva so I knew I could feel comfortable. When Dr Silva showed me X-Rays he made me feel even more comfortable because he knew so much and already seemed like a really good surgeon. Dr Silva is a very calm and nice man and his staff is also very nice and helpful. I was really worried about my wisdom teeth surgery before but afterwards it was not bad at all. I recommend everyone to go to Dr Silva. If you are an anxious person like me do not worry. Dr Silva is very helpful and I would not go to anyone else. read more

I was referred to Dr. Silva by my dentist, Dr. Kevin Landon. I have known Dr. Landon for over twenty five years and thoroughly trust him and know him to be a consumate professional. Dr. Landon highly praised Dr. Silva for his great skill and and meticulous care giving techniques. Prior to seeing Dr. Silva I spoke to several other persons he has treated and all were very pleased with his staff and he as well. They highly recommended Dr. Silva and "are sold" on his practice. Prior to my first appointment with Dr. Silva his staff called me to remind me of my appointment, two days in advance. I have never had a physician/dental office call as a reminder on my first visit. I was more accustomed to that practice in relation to follow up visits. Upon arrival his his office, his front office staff were not only cordial and professional but paid close attention to details on medical history, my list of medications, and overall health. During each and every visit over the course of four months Dr. Silva's staff were thorough in explaining what was going to take place during this visit, if I had any questions and consistently checked my level of comfort and vitals. I witnessed great communication between Dr. Silva's staff and himself. I found him to be an excellent teacher as to technique should there be any doubt and I could see his surgery staff appreciated his demeanor. My oral surgery was particulary technical and as to the location, considerably more difficult, however Dr. Silva advised me that this might be the case in advance. He and his staff consistently checked my condtion and comfort level. Not once was I placed in a position that I could not tolerate or feel any pain. That I have a high gag reflex he and his staff not only appreciated that but did everything they could to prevent it.They did all they could to minimize even the slightest amount of discomfort and gagging. After each visit/procedure with Dr.Silva his office would call me to check on my condition. During the surgery phase his staff informed me of alternatives to seek relief on the weekend when his office was closed, as well as informing me I could call 24/7. I conclude that my contacts, thorough before and after care, surgery education and courteous and friendly staff have given me a great experience with Dr. Silva and staff. There is no doubt I would return for future care at this practice. read more

My daughter had a terrible experience with Dr.,Silva. His behavior and his demeanor were very poor. Although the surgery went well his prices are very high. unfortunalty, my daughter had a bad reacation to the mediacation which "annoyed" and angered him., like having a bad reacation was her fault. He was critical, rude and unapolgitic when I conforted him about his treatment to my teenage daughter. His staff was kind and helpful but Dr. Perry Silva was beyond a jerk by making tense situation worse. My daughter was confused, cying, seeing double, vomiting and needed a wheelchair to leave the office all of which made him mad!!!! and he made sure she knew it. read more

My regular dentist arranged for Dr. Silva's office to call me to make an appointment to have a tooth pulled. When his office called, the receptionist said she needed to schedule a consultation appointment first. I complained because I felt I didn't need a consultation to have a tooth pulled. Just pull the tooth; that's all I needed. Besides, Dr. Silva pulled a tooth within the last six months. She said policy was to have a consultation first. I complained to my regular dentist, who called Dr. Silva's office and arranged for me to go in and have the tooth pulled without the consultation appointment. When I arrived to have the tooth pulled, Dr. Silva spent all of two minutes with me to tell me he couldn't pull the tooth because it was part of a bridge and he didn't have the proper drill to "section" the tooth (cut the tooth away from the bridge). A DENTIST WHO DOESN'T STOCK ALL THE DRILLS HE MIGHT NEED TO DO HIS JOB? I was told to go back to my regular dentist to have the tooth sectioned. Dr. Silva's office then charged me a $72 consultation fee after he spent all of two minutes telling me he didn't have the tools necessary to do his job! What a rip-off! I went back to my regular dentist and said I will not go back to Dr. Silva again. read more

Dr Perry Silva is an excellent oral surgeon! He is so professional but has a great sense of humor! He's gentle and so precise! His staff has always been very professional and kind to me. I live in Oregon now and recently had to go to an oral surgeon in Oregon. This man wanted to remove my dental implant (it was loose) I called Dr Silva's office and sent his office the records. He called me back that evening and said he did not see why I needed to have it removed. He informed me that there is a test that can be performed to check the implant. So I drove all the way down to Monterey to see Dr Silva. He performed the test and the implant is in great shape. All that needed to be done was the screw needed to be tightened up! All his dental work has been excellent and I've never had him suggest doing something to my teeth that didn't need to be done. I highly recommend Dr Silva and feel so grateful that he was recommended to me by my dentist!! read more
