He's been wonderful treating my weird…read moreeyesight - one nearsighted, one farsighted - and while I am happy that he is gradually phasing himself into retirement, I'm sad to lose him as my eye care provider. While I loved teaching, I was glad to retire, so I understand. The office staff is always pleasant and professional, greeting clients as soon as they pass through the door. Office policy is "no fragrances." I get that, and always remember to leave the Chanel on the shelf. Regarding the purchase of new glasses, I avoid that, no longer having the luxury of insurance. Instead, I recycle one or two pairs of several frames I've held onto because I like them. Only once have I been told that's not possible, because "they" don't like beat-up frames. They're not; what am I, 12 years old? Even though Dr. Fleming has sold his practice, I will continue as long as he's taking a few appointments. I feel my exam is thorough, and the results always discussed with me. The practice keeps up with new technology, and I like that. He reassured me when I expressed worry about renewing my driver's license; the eye exam always brings anxiety. Should I fail the exam, Dr. Fleming told me there were options. Finally, while I was undergoing treatment for a serious illness, the office was very understanding when I schlepped in, not wanting to miss an appointment. I'm really very grateful for all that's been done for me.

They don't stand by their promises to either make my glasses right or give me a refund. Was a…read morepatient for many, many years, but not the same since MACT took over.

She responded, 'Would you like to come earlier?" How does that help? I guess if you're #1 or #2, they start on time. What happened to 'I'm sorry for the inconvenience. . .etc.' Last appt, was for 10:00. I was taken into the exam room at 11:30 am. When done, I needed to order glasses for night driving. This started at around 12:45. Didn't take long. I was asked to pay in full before I left. I shared I pay with cash and did not have enough on me. One staff member had the gall to say 'You mean you don't have a credit card?' Pretty rude. They advised they were 'closed' (1pm). 'Gave' me 10 minutes to go to my bank, get cash, return and make full payment. No receipt since they were 'closed'. Strike One Now - a month has passed and I don't have the glasses. Last week when I called for a status, I was advised the office had trouble getting the frames, but I should have the glasses this week. This week I'm advised the glasses are still 'in progress'. They can provide me no estimated date they will be ready for pick-up. Strike Two Next appt, should I keep it, I'll (1) simply arrive 45 minutes late so my wait is shortened or (2) leave after waiting 15 minutes or (3) do a combination of the 2. If they give me grief, it will be Strike Three Frustrating but respecting appt. times is a consistent problem with this office. Maybe if enough people say/do something, the practice will improve its customer service.

However, the missing star... the staff member that did the actual scheduling for me on two separate occasions left a bit to be desired. All three times I was there, she was far more interested in her phone than doing her job. She kept it near her lap in front of her and could not pull her attention away from it long enough to be useful to anyone. When she did finally pull her face away from her phone, she gave me a handwritten appointment card with the time and date on it, but apparently never actually entered it into their system. I also know that I was not the only person this happened to, because someone else told me it happened to them and I had also witnessed another incident with someone I do not know while I was in the waiting room on one visit. On that same day, after I saw the Dr., I tried to set an another appointment with that same scheduler before I left. She kept me standing there for several minutes, (eyes on her lap, where I knew her phone was) when she decided to ask me 'if I would mind if she called me when she got back to Sonora, because she would then be able to make the appointment more easily from there'. That phone call never came. I believe the issues were being caused by some new software they were trying to adjust to and I understand how completely irritating that can be in a busy office setting. You've told your customer they have an appointment and then they arrive at the correct time and date only to find that it's not in your scheduling system at all. Then that same day you ask them to trust you again until they can better serve you, but you never do, there's a pattern developing. If it all comes back to the same employee, that needs to be addressed. Bottom Line: I don't know if they have retrained or replaced the scheduling person. But something was needed. If you can navigate the scheduling issues, you're in for a treat with a great doctor and a very kind and personable staff. I was never angry about it, but it was an inconvenience and it came off as a bit unprofessional. What I am saying is that you shouldn't let the possibility of experiencing something like that deter you from a truly gifted Dr. Ardon and his very amicable and enjoyable nature. He'll give you the gift of clear vision, and it's amazing.
