When I came in for a consultation, crew went over the halo and helped me choose the color and length. I came back the week after to have my hair color/matched and halo "fitted," or cut. I chose to get a really long length (~10 longer than my actual hair), so it was harder to blend the hair to look natural and curling is a must. But I think Oscar did an excellent job. (My wedding hair and makeup artist made it look phenomenal) It had been over 10 years since I've dyed my hair, so the coloring was a little off at my roots, but they quickly fit me a few days later to fix it. I really respect a business/their employees who go out of their way to make sure customers are happy. I'd say the only downside is parking, but it's definitely manageable. (I'd recommend parking in one of the many Amazon garages if you can't find street parking.) 100% recommend Mermaid Hair

Today I had a really horrible experience at Swoop Salon with Sonja. I went in with a groupon with…read morethe hopes of finding a stylist that I liked and would want to keep and hopefully work with me on a color correction. Right of the bat she rushed me in and was short with me, insisting that I just needed a trim. I told her no, I wanted a haircut and I even had pictures. I asked her advice, which I do at any salon, I tend to trust the professionals more then my own idea of what will look good. She was hesitant to give me advice and insisted (again) that I should just get a "trim". She insisted that I didn't know what I wanted and I should just go for a trim a few different times actually, even though I was quite sure how I wanted my hair to look and had pictures with me. So, she lopped off some bangs and asked if I wanted them blended, which I did, and I wanted a asymmetrical haircut with a short right side. Which she insisted she knew how to do, which was quite apparent, after she pulled out a electric shavers and lopped off the side of my head, that she in-fact had no idea what to do. After lopping my bangs off and shaving the side of my head she said, okay your all set. Which then I asked her, "are you done?" All she had done was given me a horrible discombobulated haircut that didn't flow or match in any way. I asked her if she was going to blend my bangs and fame my face which I had asked for and confirmed with her that I wanted. She then got huffy, made the front desk person come over and listen to what I want as a back up, for my second "consultation" She then grabbed the scissors(the ones that are chunky weird blades) and started to cut my hair off in chunks, in my bangs and around my face. She literally has no idea how to do hair I'm guessing, she has no idea how to blend or style it seems to me at all. And at the end of the appointment it seemed that she was "blending" it in a way that was pure spite. Almost like a temper tantrum, It was almost scary. The hair cut wasn't even the worst part of the appointment, She was short, mean, argumentative. When I asked her questions about my hair, she told me my hair was damaged; and when I asked about color, she says she charges $250 an hour and my hair would need 10-17 hours for a correction. (Thats $2500 - $4250 for a color correction!!!! )She accused me of wanting a "groupon" hair color which she doesn't do. I told her flat out I didn't want a discount I just wanted to give her more business and I was looking for someone to help me go more blond.... of course these questions came out before I realized what a horrible job she was doing to my hair. She argued, was nasty, didn't want to talk at all abut my hair or give me suggestions. Which is fine but she was just so mean, un-personable, and incompetent . I'm truly convinced that she lopped my hair off at the end of the appointment out of spite and just plain meanness. The only redeeming part of the whole experience was talking to the front desk person as I was leaving, she was apologetic, kind and personable. She assured me that my information would get to the manager. Please do not waste your time going to see Sonja. That was the worst experience I've ever had with a hair cut. She has a lack of professionalism, competence and she is just plain mean.

I sent her pics of what I was hoping to get done-- chunky blonde balayage near roots. My hair was all dark brown to begin with and she really took her time to paint on the colors and was really knowledgable about trying to maintain the health of my hair through the harsh color process. It was a definite bonus that she was such a down to earth, easy and fun person to talk to while she was working. I normally have some level of disappointment when seeing other stylists because they aren't able to capture what I want, but Megan put my vision to life and I couldn't be happier. I am traumatized by Agnes' unprofessional, rude, and dangerous behavior. She started the appointment almost 30 minutes late, dyed my forehead, up charged me for "long hair", though no other salon has ever done that, she left the salon for over 30 minutes while my hair was processing, rinsed with freezing cold water and didn't listen to my requests to use warmer water, pushed my head around like a doll, argued a lot, barked orders like a sergeant to move my head, put my chin up, etc.. Flung-dye soaked hair in my face, yelled at me when I moved it off my face, put an open pair of scissors centimeters from my eye, and pretty much was rude and abusive for 2 hours straight, which left me wanting to get the H@ll out of there as soon as the service was completed. My fingernails have black dye under it that seems to come off my hair every time I touch it. Agnes could have blinded me with the dye-soaked hair or the scissors. The only saving grace was she educated me on how to take care of my damaged hair and how to apply products. Other than that and her little dog Ira, the experience was pure H@ll.
