I went natural to avoid going into Asian owned beauty supply stores and today I had the experience that i have been trying to avoid. I purchased hair on Sat and asked for the return policy, 3 days for unused products for exchange only. To my surprise, I was told (on tuesday) that i could not exchange one of the items because it had been used. The person told me that I had opened and cut the product and then went and got another one to show me it wasnt in original condition. I stated it was the condition in which it was sold to me bc it had been sitting in my car since sat. He refused my exchange and continued to pull the hair to show me its not in original condition. I hate to say this but I would rather shop on Amazon then go back here. If you do go back, ensure you inspect your purchase bc they sell used product then refuse to do an exchange. I think of the viral tiktok story about Eben hair care. As a Black woman I intentionally try to buy my beauty products from Black owned brands and stores because I know that Asian owned beauty supply stores intentionally target Black women and mistreat them. read more

The reviews had me nervous, but not only did they have what I need but they have 2 very nice black girls working as well. So I felt comfortable and they encouraged me as I tackle doing my hair a second time before this vacation. I know the reviews are iffy but I truly did have a good experience. I've only been to this location once because I've heard from others their customer service was horrendous. When I walked to the store, I first noticed pictures of shoplifters plastered on the wall. As I walked past the front desk, the staff members gave me a cold look and then looked away, it was weird. They have surveillance cameras EVERYWHERE with about 20 different screens to watch you from at the front desk. This place must be a high theft location so I understand the lack of customer service but you can't treat ALL your customer like that. Because of this, I had a nervous feeling looming over me while I was browsing the aisles...I was on edge the whole time :( They have a wide array of products for natural hair but they are ridiculously overpriced, you might as well just go to your local Target or something. Just take the drive a little further down to the beauty store next to Rite Aid (Rainier Beach). I'm against all non-black hair stores but unfortunately there are any other options. I went into this store today the the older Asian male that works there followed me twice. You can't treat every person that walks through the door like a criminal. They also have cameras and pictures of people who have stolen plastered all over the front. Let the cameras do their job. I'm so offended and disgusted with this place. The hair is overpriced and the selection isn't even large. Don't spend your money here. They need us, not the other way around. I'd rather order online and wait. They also have a little bit of makeup and cheap costume jewelry The bad There is only one person in the store who knows about customer service and she was very nice. However she was a bit inappropriate asking me where I worked and based on that - speculating about my income.... (wtf!) The supply run turned police report. I frequent this place at least 2 times a month, often more. However this time, after i payed over 200$ for my hair and supplies, as im making a 3 point turn to leave, i get flagged down by the man with the thinning curly perm, wiry black ends and grey roots ( which is already stressing me out enough). Diagonal across the narrow 2 way street i rolled down my window to him yelling something about taking the wrong copy. I assume he meant he gave me the signed cc slip instead of a customer copy. He's flinging his arms in my car, reaching across me pointing to my bag, and telling me to find a small receipt in my bag of 12 items. Regretfully i tried to accommodate his aggressive and misplaced demands out of pure confusion. When i couldnt find it after frantically shuffling everything in the bag, mind you cars are speeding around me and his arms still in my car, i stop and realize this is his fault. He stapled receipts and put them in my bag. At that point i was dont being accommodating. I stopped looking and told him to get his arms out of my car, and thats hes being aggressive and rude. As i roll up my window he pulls out his phone and takes pics of my car as if robbed the place. All this and i get home, empty the bag and pull out none other than the correct customer copy. ive been going here since i was about 6 years old, im just about to turn 20. this place has always been good to me, but i see they from other reviews that they need to establish a working return and/or exchange policy, it's disappointing to see they are letting other people down. for me though, i love this place, the people who work here that i've talked to, and the products, they always have what i need. this is the only beauty supply store i go to. i've been to others, and they let me down. thanks guys :) read more

I just moved to Seattle and I was struggling to find a beauty supply so I took an Uber there. They have almost nothing in stock when it comes to wigs and I needed something for work. Eventually after they told me they didn't have any of my choices, the Asian owners yelled at me for wasting their time. It was the most traumatic experience and I wanted to walk out but there are no other options in Seattle so I ended up spending $153 on options I wouldn't otherwise have chosen. I will never go back there. I've heard of Black women living in Seattle who fly to LA or New York to get their hair done and now i finally understand why! read more

Call them to ask if they have something in stock ... I dare you. No one working there seems to have any idea of any of the products they carry. This opinion has been established after several phone calls over months asking about their merchandise. At the store itself we were followed around and it was really in poor taste to be treated like criminals by their staff. They have a realy large supply of different colored hair extensions and a good supply of wigs. For those two items I would recommend the place. But customer service is annoying at best. read more

This place has moved to 2215 Ranier S. What an amazing update with a beautiful new salon. Don't mind the limited street parking we were told there was parking in the back. I bought a curling iron from this place a week ago. I didn't use it until a couple of days ago though. Today, I went to return the item (with all of the packaging) because it did not work well after I attempted to use it. They said that since I opened the item, that I couldn't return it or exchange it. I explained that after using the item that it didn't work well and they didn't offer any alternative option. His reasoning is "they're a small store", but that doesn't give them the right to rip off hard working people. He also said that it had been longer than 3 days and their return policy gives 3 days to return anything, but from the words he said earlier, the 3 days wouldn't have mattered anyways because I opened the curling iron. The least they could've done was give me store credit for something that didn't work. Oh he also told me to contact the brand that the curling iron was from LOL! The return policy is only listed on the counter. Literally where you put all of your products at to be scanned, so it is EXTREMELY HARD to catch it, so please beware of that. Just a heads up, I definitely would not recommend getting products like curling irons from this place. read more

I first time I went there I could feel them eyeing me, I understand people steal but not Everyone. I took it upon my self to ask for the item I needed and he left me alone. I just went for the second time the other day, one of the attendants literally followed me around the entire store. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt , I literally circled the whole store - I had time - and every time I turned there he was. No doubt needed, this is his true character. He was still following me, peeking over and watching - as if I would steal - pretending to check items. I stumbled upon Western Beauty Supply because I was google searching for a place to purchase hair extensions. Contrary to some other reviewers I thought the service was great. Perhaps though, I don't have crazy expectations about service when prices are really reasonable. Also, gauging by the vibe of the store, why would anyone expect top notch service. In life, you get what you pay for and personally I thought the owner was homey and helpful. Even with the language barrier with patience from both sides I thought it was a great experience. I love this beauty supply because it's the only one I know other than Sally's. They have a large stock of hair and hair products, they are not hair and hair product experts. They can not give you a professional consultation on types of hair weaves, or which gel is better, like most beauty supplies, they know whats popular and order it. You will not find MAC make up here, they have very cheap make up. The customer service for me was great, if I ask they will try to answer it. I am originally from Chicago and getting followed around the store and all of a sudden they need to be in the same area you're in is nothing new, i'm not stealing and don't care. I can find EVERYTHING I need in this store for my hair. Asking the lady that works in/owns (i think) the store about the hair you want to buy is a waste of time. I have to travel 30 miles to get to this beauty supply and it's worth it. Have an idea of what your looking for - do your research online before going to the store looking for hair. This is the closes place I have to a Chicago beauty supply and it works for me. They need to expand and open one in the North end. read more

I love this place! I first scoped it out after my hairstylist sister-in-law called it "hair Mecca" and said they did extensions and braids crazy fast and super cheap. I was looking for something specific for a party -- a ponytail extension I think -- and was stunned to find they had like 20 different kinds. I've probably bought a dozen wigs or extensions here, and it always costs less than I think it will. Poor quality makeup and costume jewelry, but who cares? I don't go there for that. Never Again - So i work in North Bend and live in West Seattle.. I tried to get there on Monday but arrived at 7:25.. So Yesterday May 2, 2017 I got off work at 6:35 busted my but to get there and i got there at 7:10.. I walked around looking at the hair and at 7:20 i was told i had to leave they were closing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. I said i thought you closed at 7:30.. now it's 7:25 the gentleman told me to leave they close at 7:25. They still had a customer at the counter. Never Again. How freaking rude. I was a customer who was there to make a purchase not take a evening stroll after driving 30 miles in rush hour traffic to be rudely escorted out. Just like the YouTube video..
