Great trails that are clearly marked up and well-maintained. Friendly rangers and staff. Definitely a nice park for a hike or two.

A fan of William B Umstead Cary Reedy Creek entrance. I've enjoyed the 7-mile loop on the Company Mill trail on a few occasions. The park overall is peaceful and a great way to get out in nature and ground me whether it be solo or where I gather and hike with others. You will not be disappointed. There is a lot to see here whether it be a family of deer or bird watching if that's your thing. Just go!

An absolute gem of a park. Incredible place. Hiking, running, biking, etc. Look forward to the campground re-opening in 2025.

Tar River Life - The Tar river, just incredible! Only inches from our tent. Most of the tent areas are river side.

I've tubed on many rivers but never one that barely flows. It seems we missed the memo about grabbing an oar. There were four in my group and we had two cooler tubes. We were all linked together. There were many times where we literally weren't moving. Each one of us had to take turns walking our group down the river and pulling the rest of us just to make progress. We were told there were sandbars located throughout our trip for us to enjoy the picnic I provided. The only thing we found eventually was a big rock that we got up on to eat. So I would rate Tar River Life highly but the overall experience would get maybe a two from me.

There are eight fields, but not all of them are visible to each other. Morrisville did a nice job of keeping the trees as natural dividers amongst most of them. It's a nice walk from field one to field eight and despite the flat ground, and occasionally busy parking lot, an easy stroll. While I was watching the cricket game, some of the other fields were being used for soccer or frisbee-throwing or dog-exercising or remote control plane-flying. On one of the fields in the back, someone had parked an RV and had the grill fired up. I'm not so sure that was a good idea, as it isn't a campground, but that field wasn't in use and the shelter was occupied. Despite it not being a park in the classic sense, it does have quite a few picnic tables in the shelter that likely provide a different take on a tailgate party. It's a good spot to watch a game and maybe have a picnic with the family. On quiet days, where no games are scheduled, it's a good spot to get away and enjoy the surroundings without being too far from home.
