You can access this park at the Chatham Park entrance off of THOMPSON St in Pittsboro. Great little venues for kids that keep their attention. The crawl through house is a hit. Also the nature area with artificial grass is cool. Kids can crawl through a little tunnel. Of course the "Splash Pad " is the hit. Cool off under different designs with a purpose. To get you wet and cool you off. . That is not all !! A large Dog Park to let you furry kid run and play. If you want to make a picnic of this, you can . Covered area with picnic tables, out areas with picnic tables and charcoal grills. Walk area around the park in a semi circular fashion. You can view the park from the walk area. Also Pittsboro's answer to Stonehenge. I don't think these rocks are aligned in a astronomical way, but they are indigenous and check out the veins of Jade. That Stonehenge area has wire grass and I would recommend something to cover your feet. Oh almost forgot. Bathrooms are also in the big building with the covered picnic area. Even if Mother Nature does dribble on you. You can make your way to the covered area. All in all this is a great park for everyone. My Granddaughters approved of it.

It was a great hike both easy and slightly challenging. Raven Rock was beautiful and many photo opportunities were available. There are several stairs that you will walk down and remember you will have to come back up. Walking at a steady pace going up and down the stairs will definitely raise your heart rate but isnt to challenging. The Visitor Center is nice with a short history display to walk through, t-shirts for sale, bathrooms, park maps and the attendant was most helpful in letting us know which trails have the best views. There are benches strategically placed on the trail as well as containers to dispose your trash and recycleables. There are no restrooms on the trails. There is no cost to walk the trails. There are a few shelters located within the park. We will definitely go back again.

The splash pad concrete is slippery, so no running and water shoes are a good idea. Currently the trashcan smells as you walk by it and it's surrounded and covered in weeds. There was an old metal bench there too, but again, covered in weeds. Pleasant Park is absolutely massive and great for kids of all ages. There is a big splash pad but it didn't have that many kids using it despite being unbearably hot. There is also a sandbox. It is also one of the parks that has a StoryWalk where you can read pages from a featured children's book (usually themed with nature or gardening or seasons) as you walk along a simple path in the park. I love these because it is exciting for children and engaging while also encouraging literacy and movement during family time. There is so much to do here. I really feel like your kid wouldn't get bored visiting this park. Also there is tons of parking. There were multiple groups celebrating birthdays when we visited on the weekend.
