I had the American Pork Ribs but next time we will have the Murray's Feast. A great selection of local Barossa wines which does real justice to the local area. However, while I generally let a grumpy bartender have his bad day (we all have one), I generally do get a little put off people who get defensive after the get your order mixed up (as well as spending time doing other things on a quiet day despite standing at the bar for five minutes waiting to be served). This was a shame because I quite liked the pub it self. There were two nice beer gardens, a Fat Yak craft beer bar, and some cool street art on the outside toilet block. The pub itself is also in one of Gawler's historic buildings, however, despite all of that, I don't see myself coming back here again.

As for the food, there were no complaints from my brother (but then again he never complains) however despite requesting that my steak be cooked well done, I still discovered some pink in the middle. Insisted my 80+ year old grandmother stand up to prove a point and stood and waited while she did so. She is unsteady on her feet at the best of times. Not that she shouldve have done it in any case. She also then asked where her husband was - who clearly wasnt present - and then made jokes about how endowed he was with my children at the table, and another elderly woman sitting behind her. She was rude when she brought the meals out and when she was done she finished with *Later Weirdos*. Her whole manner was inappropriate. I work in hospitality and how we were treated last night was not ok. The other waitresses were lovely. Also, despite it being an almost empty restaurant, my mother had to ask to have our plates cleared after waiting a ridiculous amount of time. After choosing your restaurant for a large percentage of our family functions, we will now be going elsewhere and advising friends and family to do the same.

That's a pretty nice change from most pubs that serve food but the Golden Fleece really appears to be trying to set itself apart from the rest. There was a slight mix up with our reserved table that was given to someone else, (we really didn't mind but the staff did...) so we were given table service at our alternative seating in the bar which I think may not be the usual for this pub more but due to our circumstance. The table service was excellent anyway. We had the potato skin entree, I was dubious about them at first because I've had bad ones before but these were excellent. I had a chicken schnitzel with mushroom gravy. I haven't had a schnitzel in ages and I expect a pub to make a decent one. I wasn't disappointed, the gravy was on point.

I attend the kingsford most Wednesdays for their weekly trivia night…read more It is a great place to have a beer and recent renovations to the bistro/front bar have really modernised this part of the hotel. There is a reasonably large TAB and pokie area but it is nice that it is kept separate from the dining and social areas. Saturday nights there's karaoke in the TAB area and you'll see some "interesting" performances on and off the stage. Food wise the kingsford isn't fantastic... Although there are some highlights. The pizza is probably the best in Gawler and the Oysters Rockefeller (topped with spinach and Parmesan cheese) are really tasty. All in all the Kingsford is a good quiet pub with a good vibe. It's not the type of place you'll spend every Saturday night but it's a nice place to go for a weeknight meal.
