My first thought was that there were much more deserving pubs in Salisbury to suffer that fate than this one, however on a more recent visit I discovered it was simply to completely rebuild it (despite the fact that it looks exactly the same as it did previously - maybe I was dreaming). However what they had done is completely revamp the sports bar and add a real beer garden - in fact it is probably one of the better beer gardens in Salisbury (though there are other pubs that have decent ones). I also really liked the vinyl records from South Australian artists that were hanging on the wall.

That's a pretty nice change from most pubs that serve food but the Golden Fleece really appears to be trying to set itself apart from the rest. There was a slight mix up with our reserved table that was given to someone else, (we really didn't mind but the staff did...) so we were given table service at our alternative seating in the bar which I think may not be the usual for this pub more but due to our circumstance. The table service was excellent anyway. We had the potato skin entree, I was dubious about them at first because I've had bad ones before but these were excellent. However, while I generally let a grumpy bartender have his bad day (we all have one), I generally do get a little put off people who get defensive after the get your order mixed up (as well as spending time doing other things on a quiet day despite standing at the bar for five minutes waiting to be served). This was a shame because I quite liked the pub it self. There were two nice beer gardens, a Fat Yak craft beer bar, and some cool street art on the outside toilet block. The prices were that of a typical pub ($18.50 for a chicken schnitzel, et cetera) and the food was absolutely fantastic. My partner and I both had chicken parmigianas with chips and well, I got vegetables instead of salad and he got salad. My only thing is that it is kinda short-staffed, but honestly, the food was that good, I didn't even really care. I'd go here again, and I'd bring my family too. Thanks for making my 6 month anniversary dinner with my partner a great experience.
