This pub was a little hit and miss. When I first popped into Lobethal it was closed, though that…read morewas probably because it was Christmas. However, when I managed to get back, it had opened up again. It felt somewhat older than many of the other pubs in the area, which I have to admit was pretty cool, and there was a nice verandah out the front where one could sit, though I have to admit that the foot traffic isn't particularly huge. Still, as a place for a beer it isn't too bad, even though the beer selection isn't particularly huge.

The Rising Sun Hotel is a rather small hotel in Lobethal at the top of the Main Road. The hotel is…read morerather dated looking inside and out. There is a small dining area that had plastic table clothes with plastic chairs. The bar area was very narrow all round with seating on stools only. So...with a genuinely tired looking pub what makes it good..... well that would be the prices! $5 for all aussie pints and $6 for all imperial is an excellent offer. Also on offer is a range of different shots such as Jager Bombs, Jam Donuts and Skittle Bombs...which is a little strange for country hotel. Unfortunately we never got to eat here as we went on Pageant day and didn't think i would have to book - turns out i was wrong so the limited dining area filled very quickly. However the food i witnessed look going to people looks to be good serves of everything and i will be head back one day to try! When i get to try the food it may up the stars...but for a place to drink there is better available in Lobethal if you dont mind paying a little more!

I will admit that I was initially apprehensive about booking Wings as I couldn't find much…read moreinformation about it. But my travel group decided to do it anyway because the owner Graeme has been so helpful over the phone. He even gave us tips for our pre-Wings Barossa part of the trip. When we arrived at Wings Barossa, we were so impressed with the house (3BR) and the 170 acres of land surrounding it (which is all yours when during your stay here, by the way). It didn't have a television, which made our trip even better because we could actually spend quality time together without the distraction. In the early mornings, we would go for walks in the reserve and we would meet countless kangaroos, birds and bunnies! Only note is before you arrive, stock up on groceries and alcohol as the closest supermarket/bottle-o is in the next town over. There's everything you would need to cook a meal (even salt), and bacon, eggs, bread and milk are provided for the first two breakfasts. Wings Barossa is a great getaway from city life without too much sacrifice on comfort. I love it, and if I'm ever back in South Australia, I will stay at Wings Barossa again. I also swore to myself that if my stay at Wings was great, I would write great reviews about it on every review site I can find. More people need to know about this place because it's really one of the best experiences I had so far, and as I've mentioned, the owner Graeme is awesome.
