His demeanor was sincere and welcoming, and his actions conveyed a genuine concern with the well-being of my siblings and I. This eased the pain somewhat, while planning the funeral for our Mother, who had unexpectedly passed only a few days before. A great friend of mine, who is a mortician, inquired as to how everything had gone with planning afterward; she was very pleased with how he handled our arrangements and the suggestions he made pertaining to the viewing of our deceased Mother. To paraphrase her as close as possible, "Funerals are a business and his decision was in your family's best interest, not his, and that speaks volumes." The building was very nice, inside and out, had a quaint feel and the lighting was warm. There is more than shown here, but this will provide a general idea. The home had two rooms available for use, the viewing room and an adjacent gathering room, but COVID restrictions dictated how many people could be in at any given time. The funeral home was easy to find, and parking was limited, but suitable for small or medium sized wakes. I highly recommend AJ, the Young Funeral Home, and would absolutely work with him again, but hopefully not anytime soon.

As soon as he passed the nursing home arranged to have him promptly picked up and communication was excellent throughout the process. The service was to be held in the nursing home chapel with reception to follow, which would mean they would have to bring the body back. We arranged to have the casket brought to the nursing home for viewing and the service. Bryan (sp?) and Peter were wonderful and attended to every detail. They visited the nursing home prior to the day of the funeral to scope out where and how to best position the casket for privacy and discussed the best set up to make sure we approved. We worked together to decide timing and flow of private family and public viewing, and our desires to close the casket and say a final goodbye. They were completely respectful, informative, patient and interested in knowing the family's desires and making thoughtful suggestions. When discussing costs and services we felt absolutely no pressure to include 'add-ons' and were even directed towards Amazon to shop for urns for a better price and selection than what they had to offer. The day of the funeral Peter was there with Jackie, and Bryan also stopped in to make sure things were set even though they had had a large funeral earlier in the day. We had no expectation of seeing him that day. Peter also mentioned to me that ours was his fourth funeral of the day but one would never have known that from how he was present and attentive to ours. Prior to the family arriving while Peter was setting up the casket for viewing one of my FIL's nurses had stopped by and mentioned that he was usually clean-shaven (towards the end he had had some groomed facial hair). Peter immediately called me to clarify how he should look and was able to make the adjustment prior to our arrival. At 10pm the night before the cremation, the family changed their mind and decided that they wanted to be present for the cremation. Peter immediately answered our text regarding attending with details as to where to be and when. He met the family at the crematorium and allowed them one last time to open the casket, to include a blanket and to say one last goodbye. The cremation would not take place for another half hour and even though the family decided not to wait Peter, unprompted, sent my husband a short video of the casket going in for cremation. I cannot imagine what more we could've asked for from this experience. I can imagine how upsetting some of the negative experiences described in other reviews must have been during such a difficult time. The overwhelmingly positive experience we had was so comforting and made it so much easier to focus on other important aspects.

Today I emailed to check in and received a call back from Jill that our headstone will not be delivered on time. It hadn't shipped yet. I purchased at end of April and was assured it was enough time. Today all I got were excuses. "tarrifs have made US suppliers overwhelmed", "the owner is pulling his hair out", "you had a special order so they probably did all the easy stones first", and "the quarry cutters are out for the rest of the week so it would be a miracle if we got it by the 12th". We are extremely disappointed that no one was monitoring shipping dates through the last three months to alert us of any potential issues nor was I ever told mine was a "special size". I was assured the stone would be in place for our mom's burial. Now my family will never see her headstone in person since we live in CA. They have robbed us of proper ceremony for our mom. They had an obligation to be upfront on delivery before they took our money. If they had I could've gone elsewhere. The lack luster attitude is unacceptable. There was no attempt to make things right, we're just supposed to accept it. I sent a review into the company tonight. I'll see if they have any response or care for the celebration they have stolen from us. I can not recommend this company unless they make it right and have our mother's headstone in time for her burial.

The Signing book for Family and Friends was at the entrance to the chapel. And a memorial cards were there to take. A serene Dove in fight with his photo on the reverse. A printed program with an obituary, and order of ceremony was distributed to the congregation. Afterward the Marine Honor Guard came, taps were played, and two marines folded the flag with such care, respect and honor that moved us to tears. It was not a traditional funeral, yet it was moving and beautiful. .

How do you review a funeral home? It's the worst of circumstances for the family and friends…read more People need to grieve and they need closure, and this is a place where that can happen. Grief means a relationship matters, and that doesn't end when the funeral is over. When my ex-wife's father passed, this was where people, myself included, came. I don't know the arrangements between my ex-wife's family and the funeral home, that is not my business, but I do know people from all walks of life were welcomed here to grieve as they saw fit. Folks came as they were and people were allowed to talk and comfort the family for as long as they needed, no-one was shooed out of the establishment when the official hours were over. The business side of death cannot be easy for anyone. From what I observed, and this is only my observation, the owners and/or management were very professional, sympathetic and empathetic towards my ex's family. The circumstances are already difficult and stressful enough for it to be any other way.

Don is a typical sales person and tells you what he thinks you want to hear. He doesn't care about your loved one and will show no respect to you. I have an email from Don dated May 23rd and he states mom's stone will be placed "within the week"...her stone was finally placed September 9th, just 3 days shy of a full year since she passed. Don blamed the cemetery and Don blamed me but never once took responsibility for the fact that he dropped the ball. If you call and leave a message Don will not call you back but when you call him again he will tell you "you're on my list to call". McGee had mom's stone sitting there for over 20 years, she passed away September 12, 2022. It took McGee almost an entire year to put her end date and set her stone in the cemetery. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
