Beautiful state park with a nice trail along the reservoir. You can see fish at the surface of the water. Not a lot of trees or shade but a great place to explore for a couple of hours! The Ogden mountains are visible and beautiful from the Bay. read more

They do the coolest Christmas light display every year. It's $15 to $20 per car (8 people max) with the option to buy glasses (BUY THE GLASSES). We purchased glasses and bring them every year. It makes all of the lights look like little snowflakes and the kids love them. We feel like this event is 100% worth it every year. We blast Christmas music in the car while we drive through an almost never ending display of lights. It's a great time for everyone (including our difficult to please teenagers). This is a tradition for us and we love it! read more

Table was filthy, has not been raked in years, stagnant water, dog poop on the walking path, trash on the ground, dead weeds waist high and being charged 60.00 a night. Noise from the freeway, train at 4:30am. Lots of empty sites. Wonder why. Let's blame Trump ha ha on cutbacks. Never again and no recommendations to stay here. read more

There are some critical reviews for this park and I agree with some of the points. Yes, the restrooms and picnic tables would benefit from more frequent cleaning. Being somewhat close to I-15, you may hear a bit of traffic. Bring bug spray. That's always a low point for me but the folks who work said that mosquito conditions have been better lately than a few years ago. It wasn't too bad once I settled in for the night. The positives? Well, I appreciated the campground for being near the I-15: it's easy to get here. The scenic location on the bay is ideal and the slow lapping waves by my campsite on the shoreline drowned out the slight traffic noise I would have otherwise heard. Some folks don't like that there is essentially a curfew. If you arrive past 10pm, you won't get in because the gate is closed. Personally, I'm a fan of policies like this because I've been to too many campgrounds where people drive in and out at all hours. I'm looking for a peaceful experience when camping. I have to speak up for the people at the Willow and Cottonwood campgrounds. They were all friendly and very helpful when I had questions. Finally, making my reservation online was easy and quick. I selected my timeframe and site then completed the transaction in about ten minutes. Willard Bay met my expectations. read more

If you like mosquitoes and sleeping on the side of the interstate, this might be just the place for you. The loop with the halfway decent spots was closed so they could decorate for Christmas (in October)... The camp hosts were very friendly, but this was an epic fail-- wish we'd spent our $60 (yes, $60!) on a motel. read more

Just a quick jaunt away from Logan, my sister and I went out to Willard Bay to rent kayaks. The park was pretty easy to navigate and there was plenty of parking. Renting a kayak was easy thanks to Club Rec and the kayaks were right by the water. We did some solid kayaking, but as rookies sometimes the waves from boats and jetskis made it a little bumpy. People were very respectful of the no wake zone. The beach was pretty busy but we were still able to get out on the water easily and kayak around. The water seemed a little dirty and stinky, but pretty typical of a lake, not one I would personally want to swim in, but fine for kayaking. We enjoyed our day. read more

In my original review I complained that the camp hosts charged me an extra $25 per night for my car, which I towed in on a tow dolly behind my motorhome. After more than a dozen attempts to contact the park office by phone, I was finally able to get through one morning and they admitted it was a mistake, and I was given a refund less than a week later. My other complaints about the park still stand: the late and inflexible check-in time, the fact that the RV area is just a large gravel parking lot, no lights in the bathrooms, thorns all over the ground, and the most bugs (mosquitoes and midges) that I've ever seen in a park anywhere. On the bright side though, the South Marina is conveniently close to town, I had decent cell signal, and there wasn't any road noise which is apparently an issue with the northern end of the park. read more

We stopped at Willard Bay and stayed at cottonwood campground on our way through to Montana. $28 bucks a night with hookups, no cable/wifi, which normally would be fine but there isn't much to do here. We rode bikes and walked the nature trail but there wasn't much to see. Grounds are overgrown and we didn't see any wildlife. There is a lake for fishing and playing but it didn't seem like there was much fish action. It may have been a bunk day but I wouldn't recommend staying for more than a night. Pros- The camp host was super friendly, good price if you're trying to save cash, and the view of the mountains is beautiful. If you do stay, try to get a spot at the willow creek campground. There are no hookups but some of the spots there are really cool with big trees and a stream running through them. read more

If you enjoy being eaten alive by bugs, then this is the campground for you. We stayed at the south marina, and the 1D map they show online fails to mention that there is a 20 ft. berm blocking your view of the bay. We were using a full service camp site, and the breaker kept tripping. So keep on driving and don't stop here, unless you are trying to dispose of a dead body, because those bayside bugs could probably strip a carcass in under an hour. Way too many bugs. read more

I think this place is good for people who like to camp out of their RV and have a next door neighbor. The park its self is nice, but the parking / camping is not very private, there are some beaches that you can hang out at, and jump in the water and swim, but really I would rather go up to pine view and be in fresher non salty water and have more space from people. read more

The lake and marina are nice. The camp ground is dependent on bugs and needs more cleaning and abatement to keep up with them. The major issue is the main office never answers the phone. You can call over and over leave a message and no one will return your call. If you stop by while calling you will be greeted by a girl in the entry sitting there while the phone is ringing. Not really sure what she does because answering phones is definitely not in here position description. read more

We received the rudest greeting to date from the woman manning the north entrance. We pulled up, rolled down the window, said hello and she just stared at us without saying a word. After about 30 seconds of awkward silence, I said "Ok, we have a reservation for an RV site." She responded, "Yeah, and?" Lol, wow! Ok, and where do we go lady?! She did manage to direct us to the right place - mean eyeing us the whole time. The park itself was ok, hence the 2 stars, but I must warn you about the silverfish! They were everywhere! Those things are creepy and do NOT make pleasant additions to your RV. Fortunately, we haven't encountered any since we left the park. The good: good cell signal, decent level sites and a nice view The bad: rude employees and silverfish infestation! read more

This park is basically a parking lot. No space between vehicles. The worst thing about it though is they close the gates at 10:00!! We're adults with a curfew! We booked here so we could drive into Ogden to have dinner with our son while we're on a 12-day road trip. Who would ever think a campground would lock its gates at night? read more

We just camped for the night with a tent. The campground itself was fine, free showers, clean bathrooms. The sites weren't very private,but everyone was nice and there were no noise issues at night. The reason I gave this place 5stars is because the water and the mountains here are just beautiful. This was such a surprise and the water was warm and great to play in. read more

I liked the woman who helped us at the front. She was very nice, even when we decided to move to a site with hook-ups. The campgrounds are beautiful! I liked looking for unusual birds but found the public beach to be noisy, crowded and dirty. You are staying next to a swampy area so make sure to bring your bug spray!! The site was level enough for our RV. The showers were very primitive so bring your shower sandals but overall, they seemed clean enough. read more

My daughters and i are very experienced campers and have seen it all however this campsite was simply horrendous, when my daughters and I arrived they were excited about the bay and had a paddle board that they were hoping to use. However while walking around for about 10 minutes during the day they came back to camp with horrible bug bites, and no where to safely launch their paddle board. We then decided to have dinner and we're shocked at how filthy the picnic area was, our table was covered in spider webs and bird poop, and clearly had not been cleaned in months. To add to this issue the bugs did not let up and continued to be a problem till the moment we left. finally we were tucked away in our camper ready to sleep, and a cool breeze began to blow in our direction. within minutes a stench so vile coming from the restrooms permeated our van, and at this point we could not bare it any longer, and had to evacuate the camp ground. We left to stay at the local holiday inn 10 miles down the road, all I can say is that it was worth the risk of corona virus 5 stars to the local holiday inn. read more

I do quite a bit of camping and try to make reservations when I can to ease the process for all involved and guarantee that I will have a place to stay for the night. First of all, Williard Bay SP (and presumably other Utah parks) do not handle their own reservations. Rather they outsource the reservation process to Reserve America. This is generally fine. However there was about a 30 minute delay on I-15 as I was approaching the park on 8/21. Again, no big deal, I have a reservation and instead of arriving at about 9:30-9:45, it just means I'll arrive at 10:15pm or so. I check to PRINTED reservation confirmation that I brought along with me since I won't have easy access to see if there is anything about later arrivals. Confirmation shows NOTHING. No mention of Gates, no mention of times, nothing. So we get to park, and gates are locked, lights are off, no one in sight. The park looks as if it is permanently closed. Signs on the gate indicate that there is no entry after 10pm and any entry after that time is unauthorized and will be prosecuted by the facility. Of course, have a printed confirmation for the campsite. (It was nowhere near full when I booked the site a week or so out). So I take it out and reread again and guess what NOTHING on the confirmation about gates that get locked or close or whatever. After about 20 minutes of scrambling trying to find any information about why I now don't have a place to sleep for the night. I find 2 numbers on the website. Again, nothing about a GATE closing or being locked. I would assume hours with phone numbers next to them refer to office hours at the park. HOURS & INFO 6 AM - 10 PM Phone: office 435-734-9494 entrance gate 801-782-2321 Management: James Morgan, Park Manager Chase Pili, Assistant Manager Well after trying each of the numbers, multiple times, I called to Reserve America. Again, they are closed since they just run the booking website and are a middle man to the process (taking their $8 fee per transaction). No answer. So eventually around 12:30 am, we are able to find a camping spot on the Box Elder campground, about 30 minutes away. Luckily they were not filled, as they don't take reservations. To compound the problem, after returning from my trip I call to ask for a refund for the $38 charged for a campsite. Yes, you read that right, $38 for a campsite. Anyway, since it purportedly included restrooms with showers and was on the route I was taking, i went ahead with the reservation. Well it turns out, despite that the confirmation I have printed and in hand, despite the lack of "GATE IS LOCKED" notice on the State Park website, and despite the fact that the campground was not full, (or at least was 80% vacant at the time I made the reservation) the Superintendent or Manager refuses to issue a refund. James Morgan, I suppose is the man's name, won't event take the time look into this, but pushed this off on one of his assistants or employees to do the dirty work. So Willard Bay basically steals $38 from me and locks me out of the park. This leaves such a bad taste in my mouth for Willard Bay (mosquito infested or not, I don't know) and the Utah State Park system for such a lousy way of doing business. I can see why there are a multitude of bad reviews, and I was burned as well. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped to camp here overnight while driving between Los Angeles and Boise. It cost $50 for 2 vehicles which would have maybe been justifiable if there were clean bathrooms and showers. Unfortunately, the showers looked like they hadn't been touched in a long time and were clearly not maintained despite there being employees on site. Additionally, every single trashcan was overflowing. Would highly recommend considering other camp grounds in the area instead. read more

Ok this place is terrible for large parties! My family came here for our annual camping trip, we rented two campsites and we had about 25 people total throughout our 3 day stay. First of all, the website where we booked our stay was completely confusing. When we got our confirmation email it said that we could have a total of 16 people and 4 cars at each campsite. But after we arrived, we quickly discovered that in the fine print, at the bottom of the email where no average person reads, it stated that the first two cars you bring in are included and that you have to pay for everything else. It was very deceptive. We paid almost $350 in parking alone. Second, they claimed that the bathrooms and showers had been remodeled which was a lie. Both the shower and toilet areas were as hot as a sauna and infested with spiders and wasp nests. There was wasps and yellowjackets literally everywhere! I'm amazed no one in our party got stung. Third, these campsites are tiny and unkept. They have no grass, only weeds and dirt for you to sit on. Now the beach area was nice. Eagle beach was great! We had a great time, after we had a fiasco with parking. Apparently RV's and trailers have designated parking, but there's no clear sign to tell you that. And all the parking spots are the same size, so I honestly can't figure out why there is assigned parking in the first place. I will admit, the staff was great. Everyone we talked to was nice and polite. But apparently the new manager they have is also raising prices. This place is not worth the $700 we spent. read more

Stayed at this campground for one night. The positives, the staff was friendly and the sites easy to get in and out of. Full hookups with picnic tables, Ramada's and fire pits at each site. The negatives, the campground was squeezed in between the water and I15. The traffic noise was awful. We had to run the fan on our ac all night just to drown out the road noise. The bathrooms hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The showers smelled, lights and fans didn't work in some, and they were filthy. There was garbage in almost every fire pit. The grounds had not been cared for, grass not mowed, trees not trimmed and lots of overgrowth everywhere. We have been traveling for over a month, staying mostly in government campgrounds and this one was the most expensive and the worst by far. read more

We had a great day here! Very wide and long beach with a cool rental spot at eagle beach. Water was warm but very clean (it's murky but no trash). There is a water trampoline and jungle gym out on the water but you can't use it unless you fork out hundreds of dollars for the day. I would have rated our visit 5 stars if I could've jumped off it at least once. Covered picnic areas and grills free to use with day use fee. Be ready to listen to Mexican music if you go. Here reading some horror stories about this camp spot, I just called and confirmed that the gate to enter really does close and lock after ten PM! -That means that if you need to leave for an emergency and come back after ten, you may be locked away from your tent or your belongings. -That means that if you're stuck in traffic and arrive a few minutes after ten, you will not be permitted to a campground that you reserved. -If someone wasn't aware of this policy and relaxed, say, at the hot springs in honeyville, only to arrive after ten, they would be locked out, without understanding why, such as some of the people here who have left a review. -According to reviews, you will not not not get a refund if you're unable to access your campgound because of late arrival or another late night emergency. I have not stayed at this campsite, but after seeing the reviews and contacting the park, I feel confident that I should add my voice that this place is a nightmare, and administration should unequivocally change their policy immediately, and give give people a freaking refund. read more

Quite, private, covered, beach picnic sites. $10 entrance fee was worth it for a great day with our family at the beach. There was no crowd on a Thursday afternoon and the water was perfect for swimming and the rocks were beautiful for collecting. Everything was clean and up to date. Needed decent campsite for 1 nite as we drove east fr Oregon. Found site in Cottonwood Campground for $30 Oct 2. A bit high for being off season. Full service hah! Shower compartment was pathetic 2' including dressing area, ripped shower curtain, a few spiders & faucet that leaked & sprayed all over. Ladies restroom was dark, lights were not & could not be turned on. Never saw the host. Pass this 1 by!!! read more

I should start off by saying this is not a review on the campsite itself (since we never made it in) but on the system and employees at Willard Bay. We used the automated machine when we got to the North Marina entrance to buy our campground, spent the 20 dollars, only to find out that there were no campgrounds available. The ranger then sent us down to the South Marina, assuring us that there were definitely spots available and we could use our admission there. I asked her to call down before we made the drive, but again she assured me there were spots available. Of course there weren't any spots in the South Marina. The girl that was working there did not know how to do a refund. Either did the girls at the North Marina. How do you have a machine that allows you to book a campground even when there aren't any available and then not have the capability to refund money. Its 2015. I left my number with the girl at the South Marina to have her manager call me to see what they can do but, shockingly, I have heard nothing. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

I had never camped here and decided to try it this summer. As is customary for me when possible I stopped at the site to take a quick look at the camp sites to know my preferred trailer spots before I booked a site online. The gate attendant would not allow me on a quiet low occupied evening to do a quick look at the camp sites without paying an entry fee. First time ever a State Park has declined that request, they normally welcome it. Feedback=Not so friendly and maybe time for some staff customer service training . We came to see the lights (even from Nov 23-Dec 31). It was $15/vehicle and overpriced for what you get. The light show lasted about 5-7 min driving SLOWLY through. The music station they have you tune into didn't even play Christmas music the whole time, which was fine, but did detract from the experience a bit. Save your money and just drive around a neighborhood for the same amount of time and lights. The tunnel of snowflake lights was cool, but not worth paying $3.50 for the 3D glass for that short section. read more

Maybe maintenance should focus more on filthy picnic tables than early check-ins. Beautiful sites and picnic tables but tables were disgusting. Very disappointed in customer service. At least offer early check-in to your site for a fee rather than send you to day use or off site. Very poor customer service for travelers. We have visited 48 states in the US and never been treated so poorly at check-in for what reason. Obviously not to clean site!!!!! read more

Ah! We have stayed at far better State Parks. Way too close to interstate 15. There is also several Freight Trains that are about a 1/4 mile away that run all hours. At night, those trains surly let everyone know it's coming through. Lots of dead trees and branches hanging over several campsites. I talked to staff and they are aware of it for months but do not have a tree service. We stayed in the Cottenwood section. In the Willow Creek portion, a branch did fall through an RV's roof. Sites only have 30 amp service not 50. Sewer connection has no threads in opening so there really is no tight sewer connection. One nice thing is each site had a metal roof over the picnic table. Flys galore OMG! Staff is strict on no entry before 2:30pm even if your site is empty!!! We arrived at 2:20 and was told we could not enter for another 10 minutes. We were then told we could not pull over and wait but had to drive out of the park to wait. The staff advised that's their new rule and they set the computer up not to be able to complete the transaction until after 2:30 even having a reservation. Walk ins/drive ups are after 3:00. I've never experienced that at any campground, State, Federal or Private. Would not stay there again. read more

We planned a family road trip and decided we would camp here in the south marina camp ground. We are tent campers and they would not let us use an RV site that we had booked. I'm ok with RV vs tent sites we just wanted a site. They switched our booking at no charge. That was nice. On arrival we found that the tent site were placed in a glorified median between RV sites. No flat ground could be found anywhere as it slopes to the middle from both sides. They posted signage everywhere about quiet hours but when 10pm rolled in the noise amped up in the camp and the host was no where to be found. I don't expect our houses to be the cleanest places but these had toilet paper strewn over the floor spider webs in every crevice and did not get cleaned at all in the 28 hours we stayed here. The only nice thing I can say is that the showers had great water pressure. We will never use this campground again. read more
