This is the only bed and breakfast that we could find for miles and miles in any direction. Nonetheless, I must say that we were rather disappointed by our stay at this place. The cons: The bed and breakfast is actually owned by the same person who owns the enormous Hampton Inn right next door, so it feels just like part of a big hotel empire, not a homey B&B. The owner doesn't live in the B&B, and they also did not have a cook when we were there. So, instead of being treated to a delicious home-cooked breakfast, we were told to walk over to the Hampton for their breakfast. (we made our reservation online, and didn't find this out until we arrived). This was a major disappointment. Also, the room we stayed in was bizarrely paneled in pieces of pine 2x4. It kind of felt like being inside a cedar chest, not really in a good way. It was otherwise fine but nothing to write home about. The pros: The lady who greeted us was extremely warm and friendly even though we were an hour past check-in time. They also let us use the pool at the Hampton. Across the street is a nice park where there were a fair number of people out for a stroll or bicycling somewhere or playing with their kids, which was pretty heartwarming. If you have to stay in Pikeville, this is probably your best option. But if I were doing this again I'd probably try out one of the mountain resorts or parks nearby.

If we pass through there again we would totally stay here again. Oh, and it's worth mentioning that their shower pressure will clean rust off of an old Harley! Wanderlust Creativefoods was spectacular and within walking distance of the Morris Harvey House. The room was spectacular. I stayed in the Loft and had a great time. It was eclectic, quirky, and classy at the same time. The bed was super comfy. The town was awesome and Morris Harvey House was within walking distance of almost everything. I was very impressed by Fayetteville, WV. I highly recommend this place. It was the perfect stay after a full day in New River Gorge National Park. It is very close to the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. I woke up early and drove along the Fayette Station Road to see the sun setting over the bridge. Then went back to Morris Harvey House for an amazing home-cooked breakfast. The breakfast was amazing. Fresh coffee and orange juice with bacon and a pistachio waffle. Yum!! I had a great experience and will definitely be returning.

The B&B is located in a quiet and relaxing area on the outskirts of town, and the porch swings, rocking chairs, and front and back porch give the place a very homey feel. The dining room is beautiful and has a long wooden table that's great for large groups or encouraging interaction, conversation, and community with other guests. The bathrooms are clean, and clean towels were provided. There was a basket full of hair supplies in case you forgot to bring shampoo or conditioner. Sandi was very attentive and helpful if any help was needed with anything. She also is a great storyteller and is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Breakfast was amazing. Sausage, eggs, and bacon (crispy, the way it should be!) piled high! I highly recommend Eva's House! Will definitive back!

There is a view of the Ohio River from the couch (that becomes a bed) through a flood wall opening that provides a nice view over a static Pullman car that's part of the visitor center. The HVAC is quiet and efficient. The Chessie Room is on the second floor of an historic building and one must climb stairs to get there. The TV is awkwardly located in the bedroom but is offset by excellent WiFi. The breakfast part is a chit to Butter It Up! in the Market Square on 3rd Avenue, a 15 minute walk away but with a parking lot behind the building if you don't want to walk. If you do hike it you will pass Pullman Square and several restaurants that you may want to try later on. The menu is worth the walk. From the Chessie Room it's a ten minute drive to Ritter Park, as fine a city park as will be found anywhere. Value wise it's very good, in part due to the location, and in sort due to the comfort of the Chessie Room proper.
