The bathrooms are clean, and clean towels were provided. There was a basket full of hair supplies in case you forgot to bring shampoo or conditioner. Sandi was very attentive and helpful if any help was needed with anything. She also is a great storyteller and is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Breakfast was amazing. We went to Marion, Virginia to see our friend Tim White's show, Song of the Mountains at the Lincoln Theatre. Collins House is about a block and a half away. The home is charming inside and out; we enjoyed the flowers and beautiful garden-like grounds, with porch sitting and rocking. Inside, I felt completely at home, surrounded by inviting, comfortable, but very tasteful furniture and decor. The breakfast meals were superb, with every attentiveness directed at tasty delicacies in exceptional presentations. Rod and Carol need no signs about hospitality for it abounds in every aspect of the stay at the Collins House, a charming and extremely valuable rest haven while visiting the area. There are no other accommodations in the area for comparison, so staying elsewhere will be your loss, but staying there, will be your gain.

Owned by Patti and Bernie Pizinger, this century home was restored by Patti in the early 2000s and has been operating for over 10 years. We stayed in the Monroe Room, complete with a antique queen size solid wood bed, claw foot tub, and multi head shower. There are many shared spaces including a library, conservatory and a wonderful side porch complete with a beautiful swing for two. Hot coffee served in a community parlor off the rooms then a three course breakfast iz served in the formal dining room under one of the three elegant Austrian crystal chandelier. This was perhaps the best experience we have had in a B&B in the 25+ years we have been visiting them.

We planned this trip as our first anniversary weekend to get away from the chaos of everyday life and it was every bit of what we needed. Unlike other B&Bs, Scott and Loren's home offers a secluded and private setting where you can enjoy the grounds without having to tiptoe around other guests or wait for a good spot on the porch to open up. It offers a level of comfort and seclusion not easily found elsewhere. Their property is amazing with gardens throughout and a quietness you cannot find at other B&Bs. They are incredibly welcoming to their home and go out of their way to make you feel appreciated. While we were secluded from civilization, the home itself offered all of the amenities you could ever need. We especially enjoyed exploring the books on the shelves, sitting on the porch, looking at the many species of trees and plant life, and perhaps best of all Scott's French Toast breakfast. I cannot stress enough just how wonderful our stay was and how accommodating they were to our last-minute changes. We are deeply appreciative for their hospitality and every little touch they put in to make our stay a memorable one. We will definitely be back for future stays.

The house has been owned by the same family for decades, and their care of it shows. The bathrooms are small, but when you consider the rooms were never intended to have them, they did well. There are only 4 rooms, so there's never a crowd. The breakfast was wonderful. Lighter fare, in 2 courses. The first fresh fruit, with a Swedish cream or a fresh lime sorbet. The second was an egg soufflé with fresh vegetables one day, with rolls and apple butter bread. The second, a bread pudding with great sides. Their rates are very comparable to other B&B's and hotels in the area.

We left feeling like we had a new friend in Abingdon.

We plan to book this inn anytime we come back to visit Abingdon.
