Map is not accurate. This motor court is south of Logan, basically in Stollings (not far south of…read morethe Speedway). There is little to no cellphone signal in this area. Very nice folks here. They have wi-fi internet but you have to be outdoors to use it (something about the signal not going through the brick walls of the hotel - they're working on it). Staff is also willing to let you work in their lobby if you really need internet access. Room was better than expected with a microwave and small fridge. Rates are reasonable. Railroad tracks just across the highway, but there weren't many trains (at least not that I heard) and, of course, the highway is 10s of feet away from rooms. Otherwise, the night was quiet. Despite the inconvenience of not having in-room internet, I will probably make this a regular stop on my regular business route. I really like being able to park directly in front of my room and run out to the car if I've forgotten something.

I stayed here because it's close to West Virginia border where I was doing the Hatfield & McCoy…read moremarathon. For that reason, it is very well located. It's not a particularly fancy hotel. If you need a decent, clean bed and a shower, it is comfortable. The clerk was friendly and respectful. It was a non-smoking room but it did smell like someone had smoked in there. The complimentary soaps weren't the best. No coffee pot, but there is a fridge and a microwave. Air conditioning worked well. If you're passing through, it's not a bad spot.

Furniture and toilet seat covered in cigarette burns, the toilet was so gross I wouldn't sit directly on it. We wouldn't go anywhere the shower- and we even brought shower shoes. The lamp didn't come on when you flipped the switch, but it does about 2 minutes after. The curtains and lampshades were stained and the whole room smelled all strongly of cigarette smoke that we had to go buy a candle because it gave me a headache. And when we woke up, there was a roach that had gotten stuck on it's back in the ashtray. The high reviews on this motel are 100% fake. I asked a city worker and they said they get a lot of calls to this place- just get a tent and save yourself the trauma of this horror hiuse.

Southeastern Kentucky is a place that's experienced (and continues to experience) a lot of hard…read moretimes. So, it's hard to be too critical of anyone trying to make a go of it there. This is the only bed and breakfast that we could find for miles and miles in any direction. Nonetheless, I must say that we were rather disappointed by our stay at this place. The cons: The bed and breakfast is actually owned by the same person who owns the enormous Hampton Inn right next door, so it feels just like part of a big hotel empire, not a homey B&B. The owner doesn't live in the B&B, and they also did not have a cook when we were there. So, instead of being treated to a delicious home-cooked breakfast, we were told to walk over to the Hampton for their breakfast. (we made our reservation online, and didn't find this out until we arrived). This was a major disappointment. Also, the room we stayed in was bizarrely paneled in pieces of pine 2x4. It kind of felt like being inside a cedar chest, not really in a good way. It was otherwise fine but nothing to write home about. The pros: The lady who greeted us was extremely warm and friendly even though we were an hour past check-in time. They also let us use the pool at the Hampton. Across the street is a nice park where there were a fair number of people out for a stroll or bicycling somewhere or playing with their kids, which was pretty heartwarming. If you have to stay in Pikeville, this is probably your best option. But if I were doing this again I'd probably try out one of the mountain resorts or parks nearby.
