The beer was cold, the food was good. The service was not great. Our server disappeared for long times and the only way we were able to get refills on water or tartar sauce for the fish was by flagging down another server. Group of 6 for dinner. Summer time so there were not many students to complete with, hence we were promptly seated. Service was great and our server checked back frequently and refreshed drinks. Wilds Bar & Grill in downtown Chadron is a happening place to be on a warm Tuesday evening. The bar sponsors youth league ball teams and the parents made a point of returning the favor in the form of food and drink orders. We were glad we arrived before the ball teams! Our server took our drink orders as soon as we sat down and handed us menus and shared the nightly special of prime rib tacos or a pulled pork sandwich. We were both drawn to the chicken fried steak that came in two sizes--small and large. The $9.99 small size was perfect for our appetites and came with a salad, dinner roll and choice of potatoes......always mashed for us when digging into chicken fried! Our food was spot on and we both polished off each bite. I won't mention any names, but one of us wiped the plate with his dinner roll to get every drop of the peppery gravy. The decor was rustic with touches of aluminum and timbers . The crowd was welcoming but not overly loud. Pretzels were delivered to each table with their drink orders. A nice touch for the young ball players who were hungry when entering. Two seating rooms and a fully stocked bar allowed for a large mix of patrons. Passing through Chadron and searched Yelp for "Bars and lounges". I just wanted dinner and I beer at a place that I wouldn't get hit in the back of the head with a chair. It's a clean, local place with families on one side of the bar and adults on the other. Very friendly waitstaff. Very fair prices. I sat at the bar for dinner. It wasn't very full so they gave me the TV remote - which was kind. I ordered the small Chicken fried steak (comes with excellent mash potatoes and gravy and a fresh home made roll and garden salad for $9.25. For Chadron, probably the best option in town. However, if compared to other big town steakhouses it would be average. I was in Saturday night from the Prime Rib special. I got a big 16oz and a couple sides for less than 20 bucks. Solid value. I wish they cooked it more, as it came out medium rare and I ordered medium. No horseradish sauce, just plain horseradish. Every year we hold an annual family reunion at Chadron State Park and the first evening is dinner at Wild's. We typically have 35 to 40 people. We have never been disappointed in the service, food, prices, or setup. The wait staff is always very efficient, welcoming, and friendly. The food is always prepared well and the wait time from ordering to being served is as good as if we were just one family. Over the years we have tried other restaurants in the area, but none have stacked up to Wild's. We will be back next year. read more

Wow!!! This place far surpassed our expectations. Environment was family friendly in a bar setting. Which was so fun for the kids. We played pool as a family while waiting for our food. Wild's was excellent place to get dinner with Family on Saturday. We had the Prime Rib and since we were from DALLAS and was with our local relatives we enjoyed the food and service. Food was served hot and with great customer service. I have been able to eat at all the local restaurants during my stay and I would have to say we think Wild's was the best Steak place so far in Chadron. Thank You! Be sure to try them it's worth it. I am admittedly partial but given the size of the town the food is a solid 4/5. Probably a 3-3.5/5 in a bigger community, assuming they keep the prices. RM oysters and pickle chips are fantastic, don't get me started on the pretzels. I usually go with the chicken fried steak which is pretty good. Second choice is the breaded chicken wrap, which has more than once had too much cheddar cheese to balance with the rest of the wrap, but otherwise great. Brisket sandwich was definitely lacking, tasted like it was cooked more than 24 hours before and sat in a bin until requested. But BBQ like that tends to be best had at a place where they go through it quick enough to make it fresh every day. read more

Best, most consistent place in Chadron to eat. Friendly service, nice open atmosphere. Too bad they only serve lunch on Saturdays. Reasonable prices and good food. My daughter swears by the pulled pork sandwich. They make their own chips and the half order of nachos I got more than filled me up. If you are looking for a good meal in this town, stop at Wilds. Pleasant surprise. Have only been here a couple of times but food and service were good both times. Very clean. They have a sense of humor and are helpful. Have never been here at night, so can not speak to the nightlife. They often host small street dances in the summer. Was not sure what to expect the first time we went. Expected typical greasy bar fare. Nice that they have a full menu with a decently diverse selection of eats. Not dive bar food. Family friendly during the day. Looks small from the outside but "it's bigger on the inside". :) Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. There was not a particular stand out item, just good food for a decent price. read more
