My husband and I spent this past weekend here with his parents. The trip overall was really enjoyable. I love all of the history at Ft Robinson and we loved all of the activities that were offered. The restaurant, however left a lot to be desired. The staff was super friendly, but the food was not good. For dinner on our last night, my husband ordered the roast beef dinner. The flavor of it was good, but it was extremely dry. I ordered the chicken strip basket thinking it would be a safe choice because all of the food we had up until that point wasn't good. The chicken strips had little to no flavor and still had tendons and lots of chewy bits. Most of each chicken strip wasn't edible. I woke up at 3:30 the next morning and have been super sick with what I think is food poisoning after doing some google searching. The best part about their menu was the breakfast. They do have a lot of options and the portion sizes were very impressive. The chocolate chip muffin I had was the best thing I ate on the whole trip. All that being said, my husband and I will be coming back to the park, but we will not be staying in the main building and will be bringing our own food and grilling. read more

Fort Robinson dates back to the last half of the 1900s and was used until WWII ended. Initially it was a major base for the US Army troops assigned to kill or confine to reservations Native Americans and here Chief Crazy Horse was killed after his capture following his defeat of the 7th Calvary under the incompetent Col. Custer. The cafe is in the lodge and is decorated with old photos and army equipment. My 8 oz. buffalo hamburger was very good. It came with a bag of potato chips. My family stayed at Fort Robinson for a week in mid-July and frequented the cafe regularly for breakfast and dinner. Even though we had a cabin with a kitchen, we were on vacation and didn't want to do much in terms of cooking. The menu is just what you'd expect - American cuisine, comfort food. The bison steak was very good. Breakfasts were always on point. Was the food something to write home about? No. But it was there when we needed it. The staff was fantastic- even though the whole park (like many places lately) was under-staffed. They worked their tails off to keep us happy. read more

I enjoyed the atmosphere. Great price for a big meal. The only take away was the hidden charges like adding cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onion was extra for my buffalo burger. Basically if I did not add anything then it would have just been meat and bread. Great atmosphere, but overpriced for what you get! I had the Buffalo Burger and it only came with chips! You have to pay extra for lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese! If you want fries you pay $4.50 more! After we got our food our server never came back to see how things were going! Thank goodness she left us a pitcher of water! read more

Some things about this eating stop for breakfast were great--bountiful bacon, oversized sausage patty and $1 coffee--free when included w breakfast. And the prices were fair. However, service was very disorganized which led to an incredibly long wait for our table of six. We suspected that our server was inexperienced and it would have gone better for her and us if a manager had stepped in to gently assist. If you are not too picky about your food and not starving when you arrive, this place will suffice especially as there's little competition. The server kindly brought us an overflowing plate of warm buttered toast as we waited and waited which helped and the menu is an interesting historical read and she didn't charge me for my huge cinnamon roll, so it is with great reluctance that I give it a three. read more

We decided to have early dinner after the show. It was nice. Had a variety of things from buffalo burgers to southwest rolls. Even though the buffalo hot sandwich had the usual thick brown restaurant gravy all in all not bad. The service was quick but some personal items such as lemonade refills just did not happen. Would like to try some dinner items next time since we weren't pearly for those. See you again. read more

Worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. Ordered a steak medium. It was completely over well done. When I didn't get a new steak but they charged me for it. The manager says they can't give free food. The "grilled" chicken was like card board. Gravy was tasteless. Rudest manager I have ever experienced. Find another place to eat. read more
