That was me when I found myself rolling through Crawford, Nebraska and saw the sign for C's Drive in. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised with my overall experience here. The couple who owns and operates the place are exceptionally friendly and are doing classic grease-pit burgers/fries/milkshakes etc but with a notably personal touch. I spent some time talking to them as the place wasn't busy when I arrived, and I can tell you that they are working hard and paying close attention to the food that they're serving. No cut corners, just a couple of people who understand the value of serving good food as a way to make a restaurant succeed. They are passionate. I learned about the way they source the curds for their cheese curds and how they batter and fry them to perfection. I learned about the quality of their beef for the burger patties and how they tried a few combinations before deciding on what they use, (which is delicious), I learned about broasted chicken which is a way that chicken is prepared that leads to a fantastic outcome, (think fried chicken, but more crispy, never dry and loaded with juices). I feel like I can say with confidence that if you stop here and place an order, that the person preparing it will be taking their time and paying attention in order to serve you something that they can be proud of. Classic menu, exceptional execution. Don't second guess it. I had a double bacon cheeseburger, hand cut curly fries and the cheese curds because they sounded so appealing. Would order it all again. Still thinking about those cheese curds every day. All in all this is place is a great example of how good simple things can be when the people behind them show up and care about what they're doing. If you're in the area do not second guess it. The prices are right, the food is pure comfort, and you will leave kind of shocked at the overall quality and value of the place. 5 stars.

Coming from the Houston area, our standards for barbecue are incredibly high, and we almost never eat BBQ outside of the Lone Star State. Golden Hour BBQ made us incredibly glad we broke our rule. The food was phenomenal across the board: The Ribs: Absolutely perfect structure. They were incredibly tender and almost fell off the bone, but held together exactly the way true competition-style ribs should. The Brisket: Pure butter. You could literally cut it with a plastic fork. Beautiful bark and amazing flavor. The Homemade Sausage: A total standout. You can tell it's made in-house with a lot of pride and the perfect blend of spices. If you are road-tripping through the area or visiting the monument, do yourself a favor and pull over. Exceptional smoke, fantastic quality, and a must-visit spot!
