This place might be my favorite in all of America. (You think I'm kidding, but I promise you I'm not.) Chadron is a special town, but this place is a nexus-within-a-nexus. I've been here many times over the years, and the espresso is always pulled just right, the food is fantastic, the conversations electric, and the ambience is, well, I could spill a thousand words on the ambiance alone, but I'll spare you. Stopped because of the Nebraska Passport program. What an adorable place! It's part coffee shop, part bar, part dining experience. Their menus aren't huge; it's just appetizers and small pizzas, but they're good! It was the best artichoke dip I've ever had. The pizza was a little too burnt for me, but the toppings were super fresh. I really, really enjoyed my Irish Cream Iced Latte. Probably one of the best coffees I've ever had. It had to have been real cream. The way the place is decorated is SO cute! There's people hanging out to drink, working on computers, sitting down to read; such a multi-use place. If I am ever in town again I'll stop back. I don't get to this 'end' of the state very much since I'm from South Sioux. Parking is street parking. Bathrooms are great. Love this place - everything about it is lovely. I loved the building, the overall esthetics- it is a gem downtown. Their food is spot on, they have a sandwich option that changes daily and lots of drink options. Definitely try their ooey-gooey goodness that is the grilled cheese! Super cool coffeehouse / bar in an old bank building. Animal heads and even live animals make an appearance (resident car and visiting dog eating whipped cream) as do musical instruments, tile inlay flooring, original bank vault and many other eye-catching features. Sandwich and soup of the day (salami and ham pesto panini and Italian wedding tomato-based soup for the Fossen as well as all of the bread we ate on the side it was the delicious butter toffee coffee that I couldn't wait to drink and burned my tongue on. All great. Tongue burning and all. Highly recommend as a stop if you are anywhere near passing through Chadron. read more

Just passing through and were greeted by a funky, cool historically rich building with eclectic decor offering delectable breakfast croissants and house smoked salmon. Real, appropriately portioned ham and cheese nestled divinely into the light, airy folds of a piping hot croissant, browned to perfection, proved the ideal accompaniment to a satisfying cup of coffee. The Mr. (who can legitimately compare to fresh, Alaskan smoked salmon) praised his lox bagel that "was lovely salmon with just the right amount of onions and capers." I'm not certain there are many other choices in the vicinity, but you don't need many more. This spot appears to offer sufficient provisions for breakfast, brunch, lunch and is attached to a pub if you're in need of an adult beverage. Nice, clean restrooms too. Prices extremely fair as well! read more

On two separate occasions several months apart when visiting Chadron, I've stopped by the Bean Broker and purchased their "homemade" breads; both times of 3 slices of bread 2 were fresh and one was decidedly dry and likely 3-5 days old. When I brought it to their attention recently, they replied they recommend having the bread microwaved which helps make it taste moist and fresh... really? Selling 3 day old dry bread as "new" and nuking it to make it seem more fresh? After which I (foolishly) ordered 3 slices from the display case To Go. Later I discovered once again that two were from the case, while the third was still cold and freezer burned. Apparently the Bean Broker has decided to let their reputation and customer experience slide. What was once a great stop, seems to have become flakey? Cute little spot and the chai tea lattes are delicious! Love the adorable Toddy cat shirts and wish they had them in sweatshirts! It's a bar at night and they have a mini stage set up for their music acts. They also offer salads, soups and sandwiches and have baked goods in a display case. I didn't get a chance to try the food but I loved the coffee house area set up. Definitely a place to stop in and enjoy! read more

Honestly, I really like this place. For the past 5 summers when I'm in Chadron, this is a place I seek out. The coffee is delicious - try the iced honey lavender latte on one of these 100 degree days - you can thank me latte-r. The service is always very nice. And the food selection is oh so scrumptious - from the baked goods to the daily sammies. I had a frittata that was one of the best I've ever had. Nobody uses yelp in Chadron...because well, they have no real choice of where to go. It doesn't really matter what the reviews are. BUT: if they were smart, they would all be coming here! If you are passing through, this is your place to stop. If you live here, you best be supporting this gem! Breakfast and lunch options switch up daily and are all super tasty. Don't expect anything fancy or loads of choices but just go with it...you won't be disappointed. Beautiful old building, friendly service. Small town charm galore. Healthy tasty eats. Good selection of coffee. I guess they also do a bar type thing in the evenings too. Wine, beer, cocktails! May be more expensive than what you'd expect in that regard but a much different vibe than the other sport bar dives in town. Also, local live music on occasion and local artists adorn the walls. The owners are VERY RUDE and have very very poor customer service but their staff is great. This place has really fallen apart. I'm sitting in the Bean Broker right now. I usually come to Chadron about once a month for work, and while I'm here I'll set up 5-6 appointments here. I'll always buy drinks and food for all of the people I meet with, so I will spend a good amount of money in a day. Between meetings, I'll sit here with my laptop and get some work done. The drinks are pretty good. I go to a lot of coffee shops across the country, and there aren't any complaints there. The food is just okay. Not very consistent. The atmosphere is just okay. They've tried to do the whole collectic theme with old stuff. It was fine at first....now its just pretty junky. One of my biggest complaints here is the WiFi is really unreliable. The staff have said that its like that for everyone. You can't have a coffee shop with inconsistent WiFi. Today, I had an incident with the owner, which was my last straw. I sat by the fireplace (the only comfortable chairs in the whole place) and started to get my laptop out while I waited for my appointment to show up. The owner came over and made a big deal about it, and insisted that I'm not allowed to have electronics in that part of the room. That area is reserved for conversations (which I was just about to have, as I was just going to get out my laptop and return an email while I was waiting). She was extremely rude about it, and even though I was the only one in here, and still am, she persisted. I wouldn't mind moving, if there were comfortable seats somewhere else.....but the rest are all old, rickety, uncomfortable. So, for now on I'm setting up all of my appointments at the coffee shop down the street where I can have my laptop and sit in a comfortable chair, and use my laptop at the same time. read more
