Ellie's Coffee Bar - Amazing Deserts!!!!

I finally made it to Ellie's to play some slots. I was in the mood to kill some time and a few…read morebucks without driving a distance. I felt a little intimidated to be honest, cause I've never been to one of these places before - and they are popping up all over the place. So, it's a Saturday night - 9 pm or so and I park and go in. Only 1 patron so I pretty much have the place to myself. I selected a machine that has multiple games and found a game I liked. I inserted a $20 and ended up playing for 2 hours - won some, and kept playing. In the end, I left with half what I played and had a good time. As a "customer experience" it was a great time because of Gary who was the person on duty. He was so kind and genuinely nice - made me feel at home and welcome and went above and beyond and even brought me a glass of ice water without any prompting. Sure they serve coffee (too late for coffee), and liquor - but I don't drink and drive, and pop- but I don't drink pop. So Gary just brought me water which I appreciated so very much. The cafe is really cute, nice and homey - not loud and obnoxious. Here's the thing - when a single person such as myself goes to a casino to play, we get lost in the crowd and are very anonymous. In a small place like Ellie's, I'm there and visible and so the person on duty really has a job of making the patron feel welcome. Which he did! I will go back again and am looking forward to more conversations with Gary and whomever else is there - plus, I have to try to coffee! Well done Ellie's!

It's a decent place but we were looking for a coffee shop. The man at the desk said after being…read moreasked if there was coffee selections, "we only have black coffee. We've have these machines and have had them for a while but no one knows how to use them" . "All we have is regular coffee". While I don't blame anyone for not having a fancy coffee area, when your looking for coffee and the map says the closet is "Ellie's Coffee", it was very disappointing to not have what you thought, by the name, any other coffee but "black". All I'm saying is the Name of the place is deceiving cus it's not a coffee bar but rather, just a bar.

The Sandwitch was excellent and more than a meal for two of us. The fries were soft inside and crispy on the our side - just correctly seasoned and their KaraK Chai was out of this world. The lady taking orders was very good and even got worker to our table, Great service. Though the place is large but humming with folks and quite a few were taking their ordered food with them I will go there again on a heart beat

We tried several things from this cafe, and everything was phenomenal, but there was one thing that was beyond all the stars, but here's a breakdown of it all: Potato Savory - so basically if you're looking for chaat, this is it. They call it savory, we call it chaat, but in either case, you can tell this isn't something pre-made and slapped into a bowl. The veggies were crunchy, not soggy. The chutney was sharp, but not overwhelming. And all the condiments and veggies and chickpeas together made a cohesive dish, well balanced. Definitely recommend. 8.5/10 Chicken Club Sandwich - this sandwich is....a LOT. In a good way! The pulled chicken is seasoned well. It's massive and there is a lot of flavor in each bite. This gives Chai Ho Jai (Naperville) a definite run for its money. 9/10 Filli Chicken Seasoned Flatbread - we tried this one second, and my God, it's a definite 10 out of 10! 10/10. Dynatime Chicken Flatbread - okay, so we tried this flatbread first, and I thought it was a 10/10, but then I tried the other flatbread and realized this was a definite 11/10! Lacha Melt Chicken - this was great, very akin to a quesadilla with a paratha. Unique concept, yes, but not my favorite thing here. And yet, well seasoned and delicious. 8/10! Pistachio Latte (Iced) - this was a stand out. This latte was SO delicious, I got one - everyone took a sip, and then we ordered more! Sooooo goooooooood!!!! 10/10! Now let's get to the STAR OF THE SHOW: The FRIES - the fries that came with all the entrees were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect specimen for a fry. Add to that the lovely spice powder sprinkled on top of them - they are delicious, melt in your mouth, and in addition to being the perfect accompaniment to the food, they're absolutely great all on their own! 100/10! Definitely recommend this place - the ambience and the service are both absolutely great. As long as the taste of the food remains consistent and this place remains clean and hospitable, this is going to be one of the top notch places in the area. Don't overcrowd the menu, either, it's perfect as it is!

When this happens, you want the person taking the order to express an interest in helping me make a decision, based off of what they've tried, feedback they've seen from past orders, and stuff like that. The worker seemed very much like, I just work here, attitude. So I got no help on what to order. Also, the reason I came here was because I saw on their website that they are top 100 coffee shop according to yelp. I didn't think anyone would lie about this, but MOTW is not on the 2025 list of top 100 coffee shops? https://www.yelp.com/article/top-100-coffee-shops-2025 So there is a chance this is just made up, or at the very least very outdated laurels that they're holding onto. I think on all fronts this was a poor culinary experience. Milk cake might not be my thing but I didn't enjoy it. The banana bread matcha basically tasted like if you grinded an actual banana bread into a purée and you were just drinking it, and with a hint of matcha I guess. Definitely don't order if you want a matcha. The caramel avalanche iced latte tasted like there's some kind of coffee base, and they basically tried to drown it out with caramel. I mean, what else did I expect from a drink with avalanche in its name? Except it didn't even taste sweet like there's barista promised, it just tasted very bitter and like there's flavor is drowned out by caramel and there was no coffee component. I went to another coffee shop in the area to confirm this, and the difference between this and a real caramel machiatto is night and day, I don't know what kind of person actually likes this drink or why it exists on the menu. A brief comment on the vibes, it's clean and there was a lot of seating, honestly a little Sus that there wasn't a lot of people there on a Sunday morning, I've seen other cafes in the area be far more packed, so that might also say something about how people feel.

I also got the Vanilla Coconut latte, which basically tasted like a coconut latte, so if you love coconut it would be your jam. Service was fine, the folks working there were pleasant. It has lots of bright natural lighting, and plenty of seating, but I do wish the chairs were more comfortable. This isn't a place I would bring a laptop to set up shop and work for a few hours, personally, but others may feel differently. Parking lot had plenty of space as well, which was great. If I'm in the area again I would go back.

I had a margarita on happy hour menu and it was tasty. For my entree, I got the chicken enchiladas. They were presented very nicely and very flavorful. I requested our group to be placed in a corner since we were dining in with 2 kids and an infant who would be sitting in a stroller. She had said they were fully booked and a different party needed the table I was eyeing since they would be coming in with 3 strollers. I was there from 9am-11am on a Friday and it was not packed nor did a family use the table I wanted while I was there. No one came in with 3 strollers either. Aside from that, I was trying to be helpful so the stroller wouldn't get in the way of customers and wait staff. The host basically made it harder for them, not me. I started with the hazelnut oat mocha and this was delicious. This was the highlight of my time there. For food I tried the Shakshouka and it was not good. The pouched eggs were not cooked. From my pictures - it looks like the eggs were cracked in the dish and the chef called it a day. I didn't chance eating it, I ate the pita it came with and left very hungry. I'm giving Beatrix a generous 2 due to the space being beautiful and my latte being great. Unfortunately this is not a spot I'll be returning to.
