We had such a great time! My husband and I had very little experience with any archery, and my son had some, but it had been a while since he had touched a bow. We were happy that we could rent bows for such a low cost. When we got there, Bruce helped us get all set up and was so patient helping us (especially me) aim and shoot correctly. I went from a round where I literally missed the whole target wall with one arrow ‍ to hitting the bullseye with one of my arrows! I had so much fun! My elbow started hurting about halfway through our time, so I sat out the rest and just watched, but Bruce kept helping hubby and son with their form and patiently encouraging them. He moved the target wall gradually further and further back, and by the end of the hour, they were shooting the full range to the far wall! It was awesome. We will definitely go back. My friend and I got a groupon to come out to Wildnerness Archery. The advisory was that we should have lessons before going on the "lanes" ...which seemed reasonable. I guess not everyone is a Katniss. The groupon was $75 for four people including rentals. They have both left and right handed bows, with different weights. The "lanes" they are referring to are actually Make shift lanes where people stand side by side and shoot at targets. To start off, the targets will be much closer, then as you get used to steadying your hand, you will be able To shoot farther. After your first lesson, you can come in for more lessons or work during drop in hours. Roughly $10/ hr if you have your own cross bow set. And $20/hr if you rent and take a lane. Definitely an eclectic, family owned dive that is really nice. Sometimes there are waves of business I heard, but luckily there was a tournament the weekend I went. So, I didn't encounter many of the frequent fliers. read more

First time to Wilderness Archery with my two daughters ages 9 and 11 and we had a great time. The check in process for the lanes was a little chaotic on the weekend just because even though we resesrved our lanes online and signed the waiver in advance, we arrived at the same time as quite a few others and we were all a couple minutes late. I recommend you leave 15 minutes just to make it more relaxed and easy. The lanes experience was great, Bruce down there was patient and very generous with his coaching and advice to all three of us. He immediately suggested I try a left handed bow because I happen to be left eye dominant but right handed. I had never tried a left handed bow before but I found it significantly more comfortable shooting. Lisa helped us afterward find arrows and a wrist guard for my daughters and even gave them some more tips on how to hold the bow to avoid needing protection. She also helped me with an affordable beginner package so I could shoot and practice with my girls which I was very grateful for. Overall great experience, knowledgeable and helpful and very experienced staff and I would highly recommend giving them a shot. read more

I would so much rather spend my money locally then online and I'm glad I did because it turns out I had been shooting incorrectly and would not have known if I didn't come in to have them help me pick out a bow. if you want a bow, the only place to go is Wilderness Archwry. It isn't a place to go to buy a bow and leave. They take the time to set up your new bow to fit you, dial it in and make sure you are shooting accurately before you leave. Mike H. took the time to talk me through and set up my bow just the way I wanted it. I was so impressed with the customer service by all of the employees. We visited this place over the Labor Day weekend. It was clean and well organized. The staff was friendly, and so were the customers. My son is interested in Archery, and we wanted to give a good introduction. Bruce gave us some initial pointers to get our kids started; a friend and his son went with us. Bruce set us up with bows of different strengths based on the arm strength of our kids. About 45 minutes into the session, our kids were having a blast and hitting the target of about 90% of the tries. We will return next time we are in the area. Was my first time trying archery to see if it would be a possible hobby for me to invest in and tried out the open lane session, it was 20 dollars for an hour session with equipment included since I don't own any. The person watching over the lanes I believe who was called bruce was incredibly helpful and gave me tips and advice on how to shoot a bow and though I started at a shorter distance as required for for first timers, with his help I was able to shoot accurately at 20 yards by the time I ended, I enjoyed my time there so much I actually ended up extending my time and shooting for 2 hours. Everything was provided and the area was friendly and clean. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who has an interest in archery. read more

I have been shooting for about a decade or so. I was a decent shot able to put an arrow wherever I wanted out to 60 yards consistently, but after a major surgery I had to take a long break while I recovered. Once I was able to get back into it I had developed some serious flaws in my shooting form creating inconsistencies in my shot so I decided to take my very first lesson. Lisa was fantastic. She was able to tell me exactly what I needed to do to improve my form. Face pressure, elbow height and a slight change to the angle of my grip were all things that changed after surgery. Now I have something to work on to get back to where I used to be. I highly recommend Wilderness Archery for all aspects of the sport including lessons and gear.
