We rented the Executive Lodge at Horton Farms on homeaway, and I feel obligated to warn other…read morepotential renters to think twice before renting or planning an event there! BE CAREFUL! The owner is very rude and aggressive! We rented the lodge for a company retreat, and during a scavenger hunt, three young women made a wrong turn and misunderstood some signs. The owner verbally berated them, chased them in his SUV, and pulled in front of their car and braked--almost causing an accident. They came back to the lodge and texted me to come out to calm him down, explain the misunderstanding, and clarify that no one had snuck onto the farm. When I came out of the lodge, he was less than a foot away from one of the young women, screaming at her. I have NEVER seen anyone so angry--he was red-faced, and actually spitting because he was yelling so hard! He threatened to kick us off of the property, and repeatedly accused the young women of being "disrespectful" because they'd been laughing and having fun when he first approached them (again, they were participating in a scavenger hunt, and had no reason to believe he'd see them as criminals rather than renters who made a mistake). The young women were justifiably shaken and scared, and not only was our teambuilding retreat ruined, but we had to pay for a hotel room since they no longer felt safe being on the premises with someone so unstable and aggressive! When we left, he went on to lie to homeaway, claiming that we left the place dirty after our entire group spent almost an hour cleaning and straightening it. He's now refusing to return our $500 security deposit. Luckily, we were able to send homeaway some pictures proving that we hadn't left a mess. I'm shocked that someone who decorated the lodge and farm with so much Christian imagery could have SO MUCH HATE in his heart, and be so quick to verbally abuse and threaten young women...not to mention so quick to lie. I guess I missed the part of the Bible where Jesus lied, stole, threatened, and yelled angrily at young women who'd made an honest mistake.

The employee at the counter told us he'd have to drive the Junior cart "because of his size," then admitted the posted height requirement is just "a rough estimate." At no point did anyone mention there's an unwritten buffer of 6-8 inches above the posted 58" minimum. If that's the real requirement, post it. Don't let families find out at the counter after they've already planned the visit around the stated rules. This isn't about safety, it's about basic honesty and communication. We won't be back, and I'd think twice before bringing your family here until they fix this.

They have two levels junior level karts that go around 25 mph and then the adults (for those taller than 52") that go faster. 12 laps to the finish. You sign up and sign in on a kiosk at the front. Sign a digital waiver and your account is good across all the locations across the US and four other countries. Lizzy was awesome at explaining how it works. If you race you get your race stars on paper and email after the race. We bought two races per person because those 12 laps go quickly. The kids learned on their first race and wanted to give it a go on their second race. In between races they played a few arcade games and snacked on a burger. Racer snacks. The location has plenty of room to sit, snack, and even a classroom in the back. The staff were friendly and safety oriented. Nobody crashed out or ran over anybody during our time there. Fastest times for best of the week are recorded on your score card. Another great alternative for beating the summer heat.

The workers teach you how to do it, but trust me, it is not as easy as it looks. IT took me several minutes to figure out how to do it with the instructor and even still when I was doing it without the instructor, I still sucked. My friends had a really good time. We thankfully got there right before a private event so it was not busy. My friends are already asking when we can go back. I probably wouldn't come back as it was an expensive outing for something I was not good at.
