From over-cut nails, uneven filing and miserable "cuticle care" to UNSPEAKABLY messy polish... which I had to entirely re-do when I got home. I still can't believe I had to pay for this. As for my manicure, I asked for "dip" but Tony decided I should have gel. When I objected, he got very defensive. It was late so I gave in. AGAIN, uneven filing, no cuticle care whatsoever, and the polish has weird lumps in it. $80 poorer, this is the third salon I've visited since moving to the area and by FAR the absolute worst.

So going in, I got the gel x service because I love this technique...which I shouldn't have done because initially the receptionist said they didn't offer it but then quickly got told by another employee they do. My nails are chunky and uneven. After asking multiple questions and voicing my concerns, the receptionist didn't have the nicest attitude. I also had to hold a black light flashlight to assist doing my own nails??? Which was very odd to me. Lol The lady who did my nails was so sweet though! If they weren't experienced with the gel x service, they shouldn't have offered. With all of that, they were phenomenal with my toddler and her gel nails are so cute! Maybe they just need more practice with gel x but I still had to pay full price for nails I wasn't satisfied with.

My experiences at Sunny Nails in Benbrook have unfortunately been very hit or miss over the past…read moreseveral visits. The male owner is wonderful--he is skilled, attentive, and consistently does excellent work. When he does my nails, they are shaped properly, comfortable, and durable. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for two other technicians who work there. Both women appear to have very limited understanding of English and rely on the owner to translate. This became a serious problem during my appointments. When I visibly winced from pain, they would smile and nod rather than stop or adjust what they were doing. Despite obvious discomfort and repeated attempts on my part to communicate--both verbally and through clear hand gestures--they continued working incorrectly. My nails were visibly crooked, yet they seemed unable or unwilling to recognize the problem. Even after I demonstrated what was wrong, they repeatedly filed the short sides of my nails, making them even more uneven. I had to stop them over and over again, which made the experience stressful and frustrating. During my last visit, I was again assigned one of these two technicians. Despite me clearly explaining that the owner never files the top of my nails with the drill, that I did not want that done, and that it affects how well my dip nails hold up, she continued to do it anyway. Either she did not understand or she did not remember--yet she would not acknowledge either possibility. I eventually had to physically pull my hand away when she came at my nails again with the drill on the top surface. I later had to file my own nails just to get the ends straight across. At that point, I decided I would never allow either of those two technicians to work on my nails again and specifically booked my next appointment with the owner. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. Just two weeks after that last appointment, my middle and ring (third) fingernails on my right hand completely popped off--and took layers of my natural nail with them. I genuinely want to support this salon because the owner does excellent work. However, the inconsistency in skill level, inability to communicate, and disregard for client comfort by other staff members is a serious issue. Until that is addressed, I cannot confidently recommend allowing anyone other than the owner to perform services here.

She wanted to leave... the entire service she was very short and not happy. I have a background in cosmetology and I have a hunch this tech isn't properly licensed or trained. She reused disposable gloves, she cut the edge of my toes... past the point of exposure of my bare nail bed, she didn't use the UV lamp properly and was over curing my toes, she also wanted to send me off with gel nail push on my foot. When i asked her to clean it off she used an electric filer to remove it.
