I went to see Maralee at Campus Cutters after reading the reviews on Yelp. Maralee is not only a fantastic hairstylist, she is a great listener. She is like a hairstylist and therapist all in one! She really listens to what you want instead of doing what she wants like many hairstylists do. Campus cutters is very reasonably priced and I LOVED how Maralee doesn't pressure you into scheduling your next appointment. I recently decided to color my hair again and went with the ombre look. I was a little nervous about the style because ombre can look really bad if not done correctly. Maralee did an amazing job! I also got a Brazilian wax from Maralee, she did great work. Graduation weekend I wanted to get my hair done but I had to be at the field early. I think I had to be there at 8. Rachel met me at the salon at 7AM. On a Saturday. I showed her a picture from pinterest of how I wanted my hair done. She put her own twist on it and did an AMAZING job. I made sure to tip her big for being there so early on a Saturday with me. I came back home on my first break from school and everyone was giving me compliments on my cut and color. I tell her the color/style I'm leaning towards and she always knows the perfect thing to do. The salon is always stocked with great hair products, mainly by Paul Mitchell. They offer great Brazilian Wax's as well, which I have also had a great experience with. I called Friday morning and was able to get an appointment for a color and cut the very same day with Amanda. I told her what I wanted and that's what I got. Amanda was super friendly and very patient. The pricing is extremely reasonable as well--I am a post-bacc student at CSU Chico and I don't have a lot of extra money so I am super happy with the quality of service for the cost. Maralee is the best. I have gone to her for many years, starting in 2014 when I put my trust in her to cut my long hair that I was very attached to short. My friend recommended her to me and she did such an amazing job. She is the only person I have trusted completely with my hair and I know she will actually listen to what I want. She did my bridesmaid hair for the same friend's wedding and I loved it. I always know that I will have a great day when I'm going to see her. She offers refreshments and it's always great to catch up with her. I just recently moved away and am so sad that I have to find someone else to do my hair. She dyes my hair with paul mitchell ink works which is difficult to find in Chico especially with a cut and color coming in at $50. I have been going to Campus Cutters off and on for Brazilian waxes for about a year and I have to say that Maralee is amazing. I have been getting waxes for a long time and she is the best waxer I have ever been to. At only $40, it is a bargain. She uses hard wax (which is the best stuff you can use on your sensitive area) and always chats during the appointment to make you feel more comfortable. Getting waxed can be an awkward and painful process, but Maralee does a great job minimizing any discomfort you would have. read more

I had been going to this place for a year, and I get a haircut at lease 3 times a year because I like to have long hair...so I had been going to Amanda and she is really good, but she treats her customers like shit. I tried to get a haircut appointment with her and she refused to make one, and I have no idea why. I was always nice to her and respectful. But she got a hair up her butt, and refused service for me. I don't know how the rest of the girls are, but I do know it is hard to find a good hair dresser out in butte county. I am in my third year at Chico State, and looking back, I have been to at least 8 different hair salons since my years in the dorms until now. I can't express enough how satisfied I have been with my experiences at this salon time after time. Maralee, the owner, is so talented and absolutely adorable. The prices are not only the lowest around for cut and color but you definitely get top notch quality products and services. Being a broke college student, this fits perfectly into my budget. I literally payed half the price for the same bleaching service at Campus Cutters compared to the Poison Apple. I don't know how many times I've walked out of salons in the past with hair that looks nothing like I described or having my 1/2in. trim turn into a 6in. hair trim! A few months ago I switched to this salon and I'm so glad I did! Rachel my stylist, and owner Maralee run a cozy and comfortable salon and I am very pleased with the service they provide. Although I go to Rachel for my cuts, color and conditioning, I also have a chance to see and hear Maralee and her clients. Both women are very adept at asking the right questions and listening to their clients' requests and concerns. Campus Cutters uses Paul Mitchell products and both women are well-versed in the attributes of the products they use. They keep up by attending Paul Mitchell seminars and sincerely want to provide there best service for their customers. The salon is relatively quiet as there's only one or two stylists there and it's very relaxing. The prices are far below what I was paying at my old salon and it's very easy to book an appointment, either by calling the salon directly or by going to Vagaro. My hair looks better, feels better and I have more money left in my pocket after a visit there. read more
