New to town and trying to find a good place for my monthly massage and facial. Decided to give Renew a try. Please note this review is not a reflection of the staff, just my personal opinion of the overall experience. The masseuse and esthetician were good however I had a few issues with the location. Located in a business park and very close to a main road right across from a high school. Upon entering the clean waiting room I was greeted and given paperwork to complete. There was a diffuser on, with a pleasant smell however the scent was extremely overwhelming...like hit you in the back of the throat, coughing overwhelming. While I waiting I noted there are two treatment rooms directly off of the waiting room, odd as I've always been to places where the check in/waiting area is separate from any treatment rooms. So close in-fact I could hear another guest talking to her masseuse. I was praying I wouldn't get the other room off the waiting area, but just my luck that was my room. My masseuse was very pleasant and did a good job. I had no issue with the service but the environment was so far from relaxing. Upon entering my room I noticed how bright it was. No overhead light but a lamp on and a large window with sheer drapes which let in a lot of light. This window also received direct sun which made the room very warm on a 100+ degree day. The massage started and I was trying to relax when there was conversation in the waiting room, a man was checking out and speaking very loud, he then excited the spa. There is a literal bell on the door handle which goes off every time someone enter or exits, if that wasn't enough there is an electronic chime that ALSO goes off every time the front door is used. I understand the purpose but it is far from relaxing hearing multiple chimes/bells when the front door is used. The bell/chimes went off multiple times during my service, very distracting. My treatment room shared the front wall of the business which has parking spots a sidewalks length away. I had the joy of hearing every car door open/close, honks from doors being locked and someone's very loud stereo, don't forget the motorcycle rev. The business is close to the road so you hear the traffic going by. I was there on a weekend so the traffic from the high school wasn't bad and most if not all businesses in the business park were closed. I can't imagine how loud it would be during the week. Following my service I was instructed to put on a robe and wait in the waiting area for my next service. I found it uncomfortable siting in my robe in a public waiting area while I held my clothes in my arms. I was then escorted to my next service, I was optimistic as I was taken back into the spa. Just my luck my next room was located with the main wall against the roadway. Thankfully I had a head wrap on and the facial steamer helped mask the sound of the passing traffic. But again, I could still hear the electronic chime every time someone used the from door. My service was good and the esthetician was pleasant and knowledgeable. I booked my appointment the night before and received multiple "reminder" texts the day of which was nice I'm on the fence if I will return or not, if I did it would only be for a facial as the environment is not relaxing for a massage in my opinion. . read more

The therapist did an outstanding job with the relax/swedish massage that really helped reduce the stress, sore neck and back muscles and help me sleep. I had a great experience at Renew Day Spa. All staff was friendly and polite. The seating area was neat and tidy. I was immediately offered a glass of water and was taken to my appointment within minutes. I love being about to book things online since I hardly have time to call to book appointments. My facialist was Julian and she was very kind and experienced. She listened to my skin concerns and did an amazing job exfoliating off my blackheads. I left feeling relaxed, hydrated and beautiful. The facial also included a hand and arm massage and soooo many warm towels. I truly loved it. I'm excited to come back and hopefully book with Julian again! So I've been here several times and in the past had great experiences. I recently went for a couples massage and received the worst massage in my life. Both my spouse and I were unhappy with the experience. I was slicked up with an ungodly amount of lotion and didn't actually have any massaging done. The lotion was just kind of applied and that was it. My spouse left with bruising on the back and neck. We will probably go back in the future but will be sure to not get the two women we saw before. read more

Relaxing and perfect place to clear your thoughts. If you haven't been to Renew Day Spa you're missing out on truly something rewarding to yourself. Since being pregnant I have experienced leg pain and I need to to find something to relax and release tension. Hilary made that happen. Not to mention they had a Father's Day special so, I went ahead and got my dad a massage on me. He truly loved her and what a better way to get dad something other than BBQ tools or whatever. I have been going to Renew for massages since 2014 and have always had amazing service, from great staff, in a consistently clean and well maintained facility. I've tried several other spas and massage businesses in town and keep coming back to Renew. Massage was Fantastic, facial was great, float tank was not what I expected and I was not able to relax enough to talk myself into floating. I spent a lot of time convincing myself I should try to float, I did research, looked up images, read reviews. These are the photos I wish I would have seen in that research. NO STARS: I had to check one in order to make post review. Went in for a quick massage and was turned away because I didn't have a clearance from my doctor since I have a heart condition. This condition is so small that I am still allowed to serve in the military with no limitations and I am no longer being monitored for it. I also get massages 3-4 times a year and never had an issue. But the masseuse said she required a doctor's note. She then made it seem like it was so easy for a military member, who is in between bases, to get a clearance, when it's not. She was very rude and condescending about it too. I think these are questions that be asked prior to making the appointment over the phone so that people don't waste their time and can go somewhere else. read more

I got massaged today by Jodi, I used to work with her and she's always been a sweet woman. She did a fine job and I will definitely be going back to her again, I cannot wait for her new shop to open up! She was super friendly, asked where my problem areas were, and made me feel comfortable. I was welcomed by the front receptionist who was super nice and was taken to a more private area to wait. The music was peaceful, was offered tea and chose the passion tea, and the whole place just overall looked super ci I got massaged by Jaclyn today and let me say, that woman has strong hands! The massage was amazing, and I'm counting on being a regular customer of hers from now on. She was sweet too! Renew Float is located at In Motion Fitness on the west side of the building. We had made a reservation for the $99 special which is a massage and float. When we arrived we were offered (and encouraged) to have some water while filling out our release forms. Once the paperwork was done, the manager took us on a tour and described what we should expect for our treatments. The float chamber is filled with warm water enriched with epsom salt. The depth of the water was only about 6 inches but due to the salts, you actually float in the water. One of the interesting things he mentioned is that you should think on something your looking for clarity about. Because of the relaxed environment, he said many times people leave with a sense of calm and clarity. I don't want you say to much as I think it's probably a different experience for everyone. What I will tell you is this...it is incredibly relaxing! The water temperature is just right, the dark and quiet help to calm you and the salts really soothe your muscles. Once your float is over, you shower off in the same room (great shower products are available) then wrap in your warm robe to await for your massage. The therapist was great at asking about any areas of concern and the type of pressure you prefer. She even added an essential oil of my choice. It was a great experience and what I felt was an amazing value for $99. It was something I truly enjoyed and would love to try again! read more

So disappointed. I went here once for a massage and it was the worst I've ever gotten. She was literally "petting" my back, rather than massaging it. I asked for more pressure, and she started scratching my back...? I figured it was just a bad massage therapist and didn't hold it against the business. Next, I booked a Brazilian wax several weeks in advance, as I am pregnant and wanted to have it done before a specific appointment. I drove 20min to the spa, then right as I was walking in, 10min before my 11am appt, they call to cancel saying they ran out of wax, and can't do it. I was frustrated that they didn't know this hours or even the day before, but I understand things happen. So I rescheduled for 2 days later, confirmed they had the wax available before the appt, but once again, right as I was walking in, 10min before, they called to cancel, saying that the esthetician was still at home and throwing up. As if she couldn't have called hours before the 2pm appt, knowing she was sick? The receptionist apologized both times and offered a discount on future visits, but at this point they are just wasting our time and gas money. Not to mention, my husband also had a massage appt canceled on him 1hr before the week prior. Ridiculous. And seeing the previous reviews, it's clearly a trend with them. She talked the entire time about herself and I all I ended up getting was lotion on my face and some steam. She was kind enough to text me the link to her MLM. The very first time I make an appointment and they call me two hours before my appointment to tell me they can't take me in because there was a "glitch" in their system. Very disappointed as I have a very tight schedule and having to reschedule like that is just not an option for me, not to mention that I was experiencing lot of pain and was counting on this massage to help relieve it. Not sure how customers are expected to always be courteous and on time yet establishments can do this. I appreciate the kind lady who called to tell me the news but I was expecting it to be a confirmation call and not a cancellation one as I had already received an email confirming my appointment. I guess if you're gonna go, call to make your appointment because their online system doesn't work well. read more

I came last week for a prenatal massage. I originally booked a couples massage, but my partner couldn't make it home on time from work for it.. I called the receptionist, which she was very nice and helpful, I told her my situation and asked if she could get me in sooner for a prenatal massage, she said she would make an effort to do so. She calls back in like 20 mins or less, said she was able to fit me in.. I was very happy and excited. I went and the place is very nice and clean. I didn't wait long for my appt - I was taken back by Jenny. Jenny was very calm and pleasant. They have this pregnancy pillow for your belly which I really liked because i wanted to lay down "on my belly" because I miss it lol, after some time she switched it out so I lay on my side. The massage was good and relaxing, I dozed off a few times. I was really in shock when she said that she was all set. I couldn't believe it! It could've only had been 10 mins!! Lol My hour flew by so quick i missed it! I got dressed and she gave me a cup of water, paid, left my tip and walked off. I couldn't believe how pleasant this place was. I'm a member of In Motion, and this was my first time at the spa. The front desk woman was very sweet, and the atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately for me I booked day of, which could be a reflection of why my experience was what it was. As I was lead to my room there was a mix up (something wrong with the bed in the original room) so I was then lead to another room where there was another therapist in the process of cleaning the room still. So, my therapist had me enter and we awkwardly waited in the room while she finished sanitizing. During the massage, there were a handful of times where she abruptly stopped massaging me and there were about 45 seconds to a minute of pure silence. It made me assume she was on her phone, as I have never experienced a massage before where the therapist stops the massage longer than what it takes to grab lotion/a hot towel/ or anything needed for the service. Her phone also went off during the service which added to my assumption. The entire massage I felt like there was no rhyme or reason, it didn't flow and felt like it kept starting and stopping, she also left the room to grab hot towels because she forgot them. In addition, she had long nails, so as she pressed into me often times she would slightly dig into my skin which took me out of the relaxation mode. What made that sensation feel worse is towards the end, she stopped adding lotion. So it became uncomfortable enough for me to speak up and ask if it was possible to add some extra lotion. Personally, I understand how difficult customer service is and I don't believe the customer is always always right. But the fact that I had this experience, and I have so many complaints/red flags is a little absurd. I give the rating of 3 stars because I don't feel like my review of this one therapist should reflect the spa as a whole, as I have read other reviews and am not opposed to prebooking next time with a different therapist. If I were to rate the particular therapist, Amber, I saw I would sadly have to give her 1 star. read more

I love this Spa! Today I had a Renew Facial by Brooke. She was so sweet and did an amazing job. She took the time to get my opinion and assess the needs of my skin. My face is usually very sensitive and I did not leave looking bright red. I had a nice moisturized glow and my skin feels amazing. Very refreshing after a long summer of camping and hiking and dirt and dust. I got several compliments after leaving and I look forward to more services in the next month to come. I also have been using the sunless tanner sold there. It is called Tanceuticals. It is my new go to. I am leaving tanning beds behind. There is no streaking, it is a beautiful color and my skin feel great. Again I have super sensitive skin and I don't so spray tans because they make my skin feel claustrophobic. I have used this product twice without breakouts, it's not heavy and my skin feels and looks great. There is a separate sunless tanner for your face and they blend beautifully. read more

I lovee love love this Spa! Everyone is super friendly and it's so conveniently located near in-motion (my gym) and my chiropractor lol. My favorite massage therapist is Aryell shes really is great. I've been going to her for post accident massages and she's been able to heal me and help me through my healing journey. I have gone to multiple massage places in chico and I haven't found a place as great as this one. I did try the float tank and keep in kind it's not the white version with the lights it's a dark 7ft dark float tank where you're going to really be able to face yourself and meditate. It's great for those ready to face themselves internally and get into that meditative process. Just be warned it can be intimidating. I absolutely adore this place and love Aaron! I had regularly been going to a local lady for quite a while, but when she was unavailable I decided to book at Renew. After going to Aaron for the first time I never went back to my previous lady. I swear it's the best massage I have ever had. He's very good at listening to the details of what I need whether it's less pressure, more pressure or even just being ticklish or sore. He's very conscientious about my requests every single time which is HUGE. This means a lot to me, because I have had so many negative experiences with massage. As far as the spa itself it is beautiful, very clean, very cozy, not too cold, not too hot, and they provide water or tea for you upon your arrival. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. I have floated at 2 other places. I found the water temperature to be a bit too cool. You could feel more heat on the edges of the pool but it didn't radiate to the center of the pool. I also found it distracting listening for the knock, rather than having lights come on or music start when the float was done. The staff was very nice and efficient. read more

I had my first ever microdermabrasion by Elizabeth. I also received some red light therapy and an eye treatment as additional services after the microdermabrasion. She was very kind and gentle and answered all of my questions and explained things well. She gave an amazing neck and shoulder massage too. The atmosphere was very peaceful and I left feeling extremely relaxed. I almost fell asleep during the red light and eye treatment. I would recommend Elizabeth, she has a nice, peaceful energy about her. read more

What a find!.....I found this establishment while searching for a floating facility in the Chico Area. Not only did we float, we got massages and an Ionic Foot bath that was nothing other than amazing! The Massages were incredible as was the foot bath....it's amazing what toxins are removed from your body with the Ionic Foot Bath. The floating was amazing also.....it's a pitch dark sensory deprivation tank that lets you float on top of the water and relax as you NEVER have before in your life! In the total darkness and without sound its just you and God......unique opportunity to meditate in this environment with total peace and silence! Do yourself a favor and book the float and massage if nothing else.....you will be glad you did.....the day after I have had more energy than I have had in many months if not years! read more

I had a massage here recently and I have to say that the atmosphere is not only relaxing but the staff is super friendly. They are also one of the very few spas open 7 days a week with incredible prices. In motion members get awesome deals but they also discount you if attend any of our local colleges. I ended up getting a 90 minute deep tissue massage with aromatherapy all for 75 dollars! You seriously can't beat that price! I will defiantly be returning to this place and if you haven't gone here, you should! It's nestled in a corner in the same plaza as in motion fitness, don't pass them up! read more

Justina was AMAZING! I have huge knots in my shoulders that cause me chronic shoulder pain and justina was able to relax me and work a lot of my tension out. I asked for a deep tissue massage and while she was firm with her pressure it wasn't painful like other massages I've had. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone. I just had my nails done by Kristina and absolutely love them! Best manicure in Chico! She has a ton of beautiful colors to choose from and does shellac, gel, anything you could want!
