I just moved to the area. I really wanted to support a local business and try the treatments. Unfortunately " the owner" Rene Strain is so arrogant and snob! I am used to places where they worked with my schedule, they really showed I mattered ( my previous spa is in San Francisco). If I couldn't make on time they would find another spot or I had no problem paying a rescheduling fee. Rene doesn't represent the good reviews I see about the Urban Medspa. Chico is a small town and she should treat people better. I called today trying to make an appointment but Rene again showed me her lack of empathy and extreme unkind nature. I love Urban Med Spa. I started going every 5 weeks for a facial and Microderm and I cannot be happier with the results. My skin is so healthy and glowy. Their products are top notch, I've bought a few and while they are pricey, I love them. Like others have said, this spa is on the higher end as far as prices in Chico go, but for similar service and products in LA, you'd pay so much more. This place is great! I'll start with the one pitfall: It is technically not the only "Suite 120" in the parking lot. There is a furniture store or something with the same suite number, which was confusing. This was a Valentine's Day surprise for me from my boyfriend who lives out of town, so imagine my confusion when I ended up at a furniture store. Anyways, here's why I thought it was so great: Ambiance: It feels like some place far, far away from Chico. It reminded me a bit of being on vacation at a resort. It has dark walls, comfy couches, and neat decorations around the spa. Customer Service: I was greeted by two friendly women at the front desk. My boyfriend called ahead and told them this was a surprise, so they took a guess at who I was then happily told me I was there for a 90 minute massage. They walked me back to the waiting room, and I was offered tea or water. I went with water, and it was brought to me in a wine glass. I loved that! Massage: They have the most comfortable massage table I have ever been on. It was so soft and I sunk right into it. The masseuse asked about problem areas and how firm I like my massage, and she stayed on course with both. I nearly fell asleep several times because I was so relaxed. The room is kept nice and dark, and the background music was at a good level. Any place that makes me feel like I don't have a care in the world after leaving wins in my book. While I was getting my facial I was told I was booked for an upgrade, which I had not asked for. My skin was so soft and bright I went right home and let all of the products soak in.
