After hiking a beautiful 5 miles with my two friends, we were famished. One of my friends raved about Hob Nob and how perfect the vegetarian/vegan food would be for me (being that I'm a vegan). Wow, what a pleasant surprise! It was a holiday and the wait staff was short handed on a busy day so I wasn't expecting the 5 star meal that was delivered to our table. The cheese ravioli was sautéed in an unbelievably light and creamy basil sauce sprinkled in feta cheese, roasted walnut halves, small portobello mushrooms, crisp peas, juicy tomato chunks, pine nuts, and a hint of capers. I have never written any sort of review before but feel compelled to share what just happened. We stumble upon this restaurant pre-dinner rush. Upon sitting down with our party of three plus baby we attempted to order several alcoholic beverages which the first four they were out of. Even with a robust kids menu they were out of milk. After placing our order of an appetizer, two entrees and a kids meal the waiter, Zack M. walked away shaking his head in disgust. We have no idea what we did to annoy him. We later asked for more beverages before meal came out and he blew past us only saying "yup." He later came with food and slammed down the plates on table. After the meal he promptly brought the check not asking if we wanted desserts. Clearly wanting us to vacate the table. On the way out I accidentally knocked over a basket of paper napkins with my child's backpack. My wife turned around while carrying the baby and apologized and he said "yeah whatever." I've NEVER had such rude service before. I get people have a bad day but I've never felt so unwelcome before. We even had given a full tip. After the napkin incident I wish I would have heard what he said but my wife wouldn't tell me until we got to car. read more

Fresh, local produce is always a plus in my book. Definitely agree with other reviews; service is very slow, not a good place if you are in a rush or have a large crowd. Have eaten here four times and have waited at least 40min for food each time. Smoothies are also really good. I typically get the Bbq chicken gyro; however, was told that this item is now discontinued. I am now in no rush to return. It's disappointing when you find a dish you absolutely love and then it's taken off the menu. Settled for the Sheppards Pie which was unusual but still good. Not as good as the gyro. read more

Maybe it was an off day and I really hate to write reviews that aren't great. But I wasn't terribly impressed. The Server wasn't attentive, forgot my kids drink and I had to ask for it twice. My wife's Mumbai mule (whatever it was called ) was not good. It was watered down or something; I couldn't my put my finger on it. When the food came, we got our foods at different times and I had to ask the server to bring our silverware more than once. It wasn't busy so I couldn't really understand what the issue was. Aside from that, the location is excellent. The place was cool and the hostess was on point. The menu options sounded great. We sat outside and that was awesome. Wow! We're in town from Brooklyn and loved this place. The service was excellent (never a moment without ice tea!) as was the food. I grew up in Miami and know my plantains, and the Maduros I ordered were perfect. Plus they upped the game with a mango/yoghurt dipping sauce. We had an hour before a baseball game and wanted to eat at Hob Nob. I ordered chips and salsa, Santa Fe salad and my wife ordered the BLT and tomato Gouda soup. Great flavorful food. The Hob Nob is now on the top of my restaurant list! I can't think of a bad thing to say about the place -- the food was AMAZING, reasonable prices, great atmosphere, and the fact everything is home grown and hormone free (mostly on their own farm) is just terrific. My boyfriend wouldn't normally go for a restaurant like The Hob Nob (what he calls a "hippy" restaurant) but was won over by the menu immediately which goes to show that on the huge menu there is something for everyone. We first ordered pan fried plantains with a mango-yogurt dipping sauce. Neither of us had ever had plantains, and we found them and their sauce to be delicious! The plantains were cooked to perfection, slightly crunchy in parts but soft in others for a perfect texture and the sauce, although it appeared to just be yogurt with chunks of mango in it, complemented the plantains perfectly. I couldn't decide what to eat so I took the waitress' suggestion and ordered the tempeh gouda tacos. They came out beautiful, and tasted even better. I had also never had tempeh, but I actually loved it and it is now a new favorite. Along with the tacos they brought a chipotle tomato salsa, and it was definitely the best salsa I'd ever had. My boyfriend and I decided the next time we visit the restaurants we will order their chips and salsa as an appetizer and the plantains as a dessert since they are a little sweet. My boyfriend ordered the watauga farm burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he'd ever had and could tell it was super fresh meat. It made me happy knowing he enjoyed eating meet that wasn't full of chemicals and that didn't come from a factory farm. Along with his burger he chose to order a chorizo-chili. He seemed to really like it as well! Another amazing part of the meal was that instead of traditional hot sauce (Texas Pete) they brought out their own, home-made blueberry lime habenero sauce. Again, it was probably the best hot sauce I'd ever had. It tasted spicy, just like a hot sauce should, but you could also taste a slight hint of the blueberry and lime, making it a little different and actually improving the flavor. Our meals total was right around $30. Not bad for two entrees and an appetizer, and especially not bad considering I've had meals both of less quality taste and ingredient wise that have been a lot more expensive. Although I live over an hour away, I will be making special trips to the Hob Nob as frequently as possible for now on. It was a great experience I would recommend to all. read more

This place is great. Love the food (Jamaican plate was super spicy, and did not taste Jamaican; source, I've been to Jamaica--only thing I wouldn't suggest) absolutely love the food. Put a post on craigslist or up at the college if you need more workers. It's actually confusing how you guys can be so slow. Servers are always super nice though! My friends and I live here and love hob nob, but you are either closed or we don't have 2 hours to grab lunch. We came here for dinner after a local recommended it to us. She was right! It was so good! We had hoped for no leftovers as we were leaving the next day we ordered the Nachos appetizer and Habana plate entree. We would have been fine with just the entree. The nachos were great, some of the best I've had. The Habana plate was very good, and interesting combination of flavors and textures that work so well together. It also reheated well the next day for dinner. We also ordered my son the chicken and cheese quesadilla. It was quite tasty and huge for a kids plate. I wish it came though with a side without costing extra. We sat outside on the bench. My 2yo son was able to watch the cars driving by while waiting for dinner and after he was done. Sadly, bad service ruined our experience here. There are many menu items that sound appealing, and mine would have probably been good if it had not have sat so long before coming to our table. My girlfriend's meal, we were never sure whether it was supposed to be served hot or cold, because it was mysteriously somewhere in between. Anyway, it would have been nice to have someone care that our service was so poor, but there didn't seem to be anyone in charge of the restaurant at all. Our server was obviously undertrained, and it seemed unlikely that the situation would be remedied in the foreseeable future. My husband and I were on vacation in Boone and stopped into Wild Craft Eatery around 3pm on a Sunday. There were about 3 other couples there eating. After 40 minutes, they bring out our food. My plate looked good, but my husband's tempeh tacos were completely burnt to a crisp. Like black. They even smelled burnt. I can't believe they allowed that to leave the kitchen. He returned them, but we didn't want to wait another 40 minutes for a new plate, so he shared mine. I had sweet potato enchiladas and they were actually delicious.
