This list of vets are given rules for charges BUT they never actually ensure that those vets follow those charges OR make sure that those vets are not allowed to charge other outragous fees. The vet office I went to charged me over $500 in fees including an over the weight charge by $50 due to my puppy being 5lb over (the foa site says the vet is only allowed to charge $2/lb over). I wrote an email to Friends of animals about this vets upcharges over 2 weeks ago and go zero response. I had previously gone to The Spay & Neuter Center of New Jersey which only charged $400 TOTAL out the door price with sutures that disolved and did an amazing job, but they are over an hour from me. I ended up spending over $700 using Friends of animals "low cost" neuter at a rude vet office 10 mins from me. What a joke. I don't understand how they are allowed to keep this scam up.

I was able to order the certificate over the phone. I am very surprised by the other review - the woman I spoke with was not rude at all - to the contrary she couldn't have been nicer. I should have the certificate in about a week. I will update my review upon receipt.

Olga of the Bird House of Westchester is simply the greatest. I had ordered a product that was out…read moreof stock. She emailed me and even called to keep me abreast of the status of the back order and mailed the product immediately when it came in. Thanks, Olga! You're the greatest! I only wish I lived in the area, instead of out in California. I'd love to visit the store!

Visited this store for the first (and last) time on 2/18/13 with my husband. We were appalled at…read morethe level of neglect some of the birds were suffering from. There was one cage in particular that had Gouldian finches, a few zebra finches, and a canary with a severely overgrown scissor beak (crosses like an x). This can affect the canary's ability to be able to eat. Hello!?! This bird needs a trim desperately. The gouldians were in the worst shape I have ever seen - their feathers are thinning out, they all looked sickly and puffed up. Food dish (which seemed to be the ONLY perch available to them) was full of dirty, old hulls. No fresh food available in a store that has bird seed lining the shelves. There was also a macaw that looked terrible - he was in a cage on the bottom shelf, laying on his back, only his beak grasping the cage bars, his eyes closed. When I spoke to him, he opened his eyes. Seems like a bird that size should have room to move around freely and/or be out in the open. My husband said he saw moths near the bird seed - I didn't notice as I was so upset about the birds. Honestly, I wanted to just demand these birds are coming with me for some care! The gouldians especially seemed to be suffering from malnutrition. A very sad site. Do yourself a favor and read ALL the reviews - there is one more that is filtered that claims a dead bunny was found in this shop in 2011. I am a breeder myself and have more finches in my home than this entire shop probably had. I find the time to care for (properly) these birds everyday by myself, and this is with a full time job. How the two people sitting at the register who's full time job it is to man this store can't find the time to properly care for the birds is beyond me. Disgusting. Gave one star because zero was not an option.

Our dogs absolutely love Leah, and we enjoy chatting with her every chance we can! We have so much trust in Leah to take care of our pups. It was a challenge when our last walker dropped us, but Leah quickly stepped in and put our minds at ease, speaking to her experiences and quickly getting along with our dogs. We have 2 very high energy pups that need to be watched closely, otherwise they will inevitably get into trouble. We've had cases of our pups getting away, and multiple scheduling issues with our last walker (NOT Leah :) ), but we have not once had an issue since Leah has taken over. With many dog walkers out there, and knowing how much people value their pets, we can not recommend Leah enough. She is super easy to work with, and most importantly, just someone you can trust!

PawsBarkPlay was recommended to me by someone who had a particularly difficult rescue dog. Leah took time to try and get to know the dog before she agreed to walk him and she refused to charge the owner (who paid her anyway) for the first few visits because even though she spent more time than normal at the house she wasn't able to get the dog to warm up to her enough to walk him the first couple times. When I heard this story I thought two things: 1. There's no way this person was actually that nice. 2. I have to get her to walk/ sit my dog (Birdy) To be honest, everything seemed strangely too good to be true. Down to the business cards which were nicer that any I've seen (including my own) and the fact that she was licensed and insured?? Like I said, I didn't think the dog walking business was that serious but she's got it all. The card even says that she's pet first aid & cpr certified (I forgot to ask for proof but I believe her). Anyway, when she showed up I found out that she had recently moved here from the south which explained everything, she has not yet been corrupted by our New England brash way of thinking. She was the sweetest person and took to Birdy immediately. I should say that Birdy is very well behaved and not at all aggressive but she's cautious about new people. Birdy ran to her like she was a long lost relative, I was shocked and a little jealous. Leah told me that she just recently started this business but you would never know. Her prices seem middle of the road for what I've seen out there ($25/30 min walk) but her service and level of care is beyond what I expected and make her prices seem cheap. I was surprised to see that she didn't have any reviews but I have a feeling that her clients are trying to keep her a secret like I thought about doing. As a Yelper, though, I felt obligated to leave this review but she absolutely deserves it. Hopefully she'll keep it in mind when she gets busy!
