I hadn't been into this store in several years because I didn't used to care for the claustrophobic layout and, frankly, the smell. But I stopped in recently after being next door at UPS, and I was shocked at the improvements under the new owner. The layout was open and clean, no smell anymore, there was a variety of products for all kinds of animals, and a nice fish department. The employees were very friendly and the woman I spoke with was funny and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back here to shop again. It's nice to have such a welcoming pet store in Hamilton. I've bought dog food and supplies many times from this store. The owner is willing to order any kind of dog food I need, and in bulk. Wild about pets is much cheaper than the pet food stores in Missoula. I feed raw and the owner has been very professional and helpful. The store is small, but the owner and employees have always been friendly and knowledgeable. I'm from Utah and will drive to Hamilton over trying to get a shop in Utah to order my dog food. This place is a solid pet store with a wide variety of good quality items and pet food/treats. Everyone's nice and helpful when I go in there. I got a really nice soft cat carrier there with mesh screening and lots of safety features. I didn't have time to wait for Amazon and the price was in line with what I would've paid, plus no delivery delay! I don't believe the bad reviews. From what I saw on Facebook, some people in this area don't like the owner and try to get others to leave bad reviews in different places. They say that "it will send a message" and either the store will close or the owner will change her policies. All because she respected others during the pandemic and required masks. From what I gather, they were turned away at the door and they didn't like that. The store also supports the local LGBTQ+ community and there's sadly people that are mad about that. I wouldn't be surprised if the people writing the bad reviews were the same people on the corner protesting the election and/or supporting the insurrection. It's really wild out here sometimes. I have given this business my money for the last seven years, for when I need basically anything besides dog food. As I recently got a ball python I now need a weekly source of safe rodents. I went to wild about pets for months and received mostly excellent customer service and sometimes subpar product. Well the last time I went in I order a hopper but I definitely got a pinky, it's eyes weren't even open yet! I went back in to request a refund to only charge it as a pinky, and was completely wrtitten off and told that they were out of everything else. I would t have minded if they gave me two smaller mice, or charged me the smaller size, or really any attempt at customer service to rectify the issue. TL;DR? I gave her my business for seven years and she lost it in an hour. read more

The folks at wild about pets are awesome and helpful. They really care about our pets and offer a variety of items for health and wellbeing. Their hours are a little challenging, but I understand the need to be open when it best makes sense. read more

My husband went there to get some pet supplies last week and was treated horribly. They were rude, mean, and confrontational, simply because he asked if they had what he needed, and where that would be in the store. The store is always filthy and stinks. The people are always rude. We will take our business to Missoula or shop online from now on. read more

Karen has always been very helpful when I had concerns about my dogs and bird. She is very knowledgeable about foods, allergies, brands and such. One time I went in to get some millet for my bird and they were out. The owner's brother was working and he was rude when I asked when they'd get more. Pissed me off, so I started ordering it online. Perhaps he was having a bad day- not the best way to be with a customer- but I like the store for the needs I have so I'm back. The people who are complaining about political stuff can just open their own stores. lol read more

I love this place.if it wasn't for them my fish would be gone. They helped me find the perfect solution to help bring them out of being dormant by putting them in anew tank.within a day after there suggestions my fish were back to normal again. It nice. Plus I've bought all kinds of pet food in there cuz I want my pet's to be healthy. I love the owners. And there employees. Never had a issue with anyone. For over 10 yrs. Yikes! looked to purchase some aquatic plants when I noticed that one of the female bettas living in the tank was suffering from ich, and another had dropsy so badly that it looked like an orange pine cone. The plants were also partially melted and didn't seem to be doing so well, either, so I decided against adding any of the plants to my tank. I went to look at the animals, only to notice the chinchillas and a few other small critters living on wire floor with no flat surface to rest their feet and protect against bumblefoot. The store in general is cluttered and hard to find anything in, and many of the fish tanks seemed to have no lighting at all. I never once was greeted or asked if I needed help finding anything. I decided against buying anything, which sucks because supporting local businesses is typically an awesome experience. read more

This place only deserves a star because of the employees that work there. They were nice and helpful. The OWNER is VERY rude! I went in on a Saturday to buy nail clippers for my dog and they broke immediately. So as our lives are all busy I returned on Tuesday to return them. I lost the receipt because it was some ghetto till with a real old receipt paper. Didn't think it was real Necessary considering the "wild about pets" sticker was on the packaging with the price. The lady has to go get the owner to approve the exchange. The owner was disrespectful. I told her I bought it on Sunday and they broke. She says to me "well how could that be we aren't open in Sunday's." I said ok. Saturday. She was not going to allow me to exchange it until her employee said "I remember her transaction". SERIOUSLY HOW RUDE. She could have nicely just said I'm sorry we need the receipt. The place is disgusting,stinks, and the vibe in that place is terrible. I'd rather go to Missoula then ever have to deal with the garlic lady owner again. (I say this because I asked why she had garlic everywhere. She apparently grows it and sells it in the store) read more

I really enjoy shopping at Wild About Pets! The customer service is fantastic; the owner spent an inordinate amount of time talking with me about what dog food would best suit my dog, then gave me free samples of the one she thought would be best. I have never had a any shop employee/owner EVER spend so much time trying to find the right product for me. Amazing. And my dog loved the food she suggested. So it has been awhile since my last review of this place and things have changed quite a bit since the last time I was in here. For one, I have a stubborn, picky, pretentious cat. I had her then too, but she wasn't stubborn, picky, or pretentious. I actually went in to the store again as a last ditch effort to find something this cat will eat. But I digress. The prices are still a bit higher, but that is to be expected given that it is not a major chain store. The store has been cleaned up so very much and organized as well. Things are really easy to find and it is so much easier to walk through the store. That makes paying extra for the convenience of shopping in town totally worth it in and of itself. However, they went a step further and seriously amp'd up the customer service in this store. I don't make it five steps in the door before someone says hi. Awesome! That's the kind of friendly atmosphere I expect in a smaller town. Even if they cannot help you right away, they know you are there and they come find you as soon as they are freed up. The customer service isn't just about saying hi though. These people have literally spent days with us figuring out different options for the aforementioned cat. They helped us through food choices and even gave us a sample or two to try before buying a bigger bag, gave us ideas on how to get her to eat and drink more, and other advice as we go through trying to get our cat better and eating more. It has really been kind of nice to have someone in our corner as we navigate trying to make life epic for our cat who is currently not feeling well. They get it and they aren't afraid to show it. It is definitely less terrifying when you have people helping you along the way. I don't know what changed, but something did and it is all for the better. I figured that warrants an update.
