This campground looks unassuming at first glance, but it really has everything you need. Our site was equipped with outlets and water hookups, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Firewood is available for purchase at the little camp store. The whole campground sits on the edge of the lake which provides great sunsets. It was oddly quiet in the morning (minus a rude couple using drills to tear down their setup at 6AM, but that was not the campground's fault as they do have quiet hours)-- which is unusual for a family campground. The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

After the first night of my stay, I went to the office to inquire about the campfire policy because…read morea neighboring site's smoke had been blowing through mine for several hours (this was in the daylight, it was warm out, AND the group had left their site and left the fire unattended). The person working laughed at me and essentially told me 'f-you, we don't care about your experience, we aren't going to do anything about it'. Each subsequent night, fires were left burning and unattended while the site occupants slept. On top of the reprehensible customer service and fire safety, the sites are crammed on top of one another with no trees and zero privacy. Also, the water and electric pedestals are shared between 2-4 sites each. On the plus side, it is right on the beach (assuming you can stand being around all the smoke long enough to enjoy it) and close to town. So much for spending time outdoors to enjoy the fresh air.

Showers/bathrooms private and immaculate. Many trees. Most sites are shaded. I wish the sites were a bit more level, but we were able to level our super-C without trouble. Best deal you'll ever get on firewood. If the sites were a bit more level, I'd opt for a 6-star review. Park new in 2016.. Perhaps the best kept secret in Michigan RV parks. Garbin 890 could not find it but Apple Maps did with no trouble. Satellite view on Google Maps is way out dated so don't go by that. Backed into a 72 foot site and didn't have to unhook the trailer. Some pull through site also available. We're here for four nights and looking forward to it.

Camped at Indian Lake State Park at the start of July and had a great time! This campground is…read morelovely and our specific campsite was incredible! We had our picnic table and fire pit up on the hill at the back half of our site, overlooking the water, and flat ground at the front where we could set up our tent. Absolutely loved it and would definitely book this same exact site probably again if I could in the future. There are a ton with a view overlooking the lake as well, but regardless of which campsite you get, you'll need to take the public access stairs down to the lake, stationed every few campsites throughout the campground. Great entry points for swimming, but not much of any beach space at these spots. The proximity of Indian Lake to Palms Book State Park was also a big reason why we reserved a campground here. Indian Lake SP is on the south side of the lake, while Palms Book SP is on the west side. Palms Book SP also is where Kitch-iti-kipi is, which is a Michigan gem that I have never visited...until now! The two state parks are under 15 minutes away from one another! Indian Lake SP also has a ton of access to the shoreline. The days we were camping didn't have the best weather, but there is plenty of access to the water to swim. There is not a lot of beach area, most areas we saw that were within the state park were 2-3 feet of beach max, so it isn't ideal for laying out. Plenty of boat launch sites as well! Other things to note: - The speed limit within the campground is 5 mph and strictly enforced. - Nearby town of Manistique for restaurants/stores/downtown shopping. - Also nearby, but more of a 30-45 minute drive is Fayette Historic State Park, which is a very unique state park to check out if your schedule allows. I wasn't able to make it out there, but it came highly recommended by a lot of UP friends!

Kids were running around unattanded until 1 am they were getting into people stuff. So it was noisy and these one campers were foul mouthed - awful. Not to mention dirt bikes until 11 pm behind the camp and some guy using a chainsaw at MIDNIGHT- the neighbors make it known they do not like the campground They also had a group that I guess lives here for the Season- they were tge ones that went to bed and let their kids run around unattended - while parents were asleep. Also NO SHAdE Now I know it was a weekend and people should be loud and have fun but NOT after 11 even 12 am and not swearing Stay if everything else is closed but be warned

We loved the first come first served way of doing things since we can't be the only people who decide on a whim to take a trip to the UP and have no plans in place on where to stay. It was a risky move on a holiday weekend so we were more than happy to find Catching Crickets. I would maybe suggest adding a few more bathrooms. There was a situation where there was a line outside, someone who was taking a while inside and a little girl about to pee her pants. Another unit right next door would have been a comfort and less pressure for the user who knows there is a line outside, lol. there was one other unit on the other side of the campground but that's a long way to go only to find out that one is full too. I'm sure adding another is a big expense but it would make things a bit more comfortable for everyone. overall, it was a nice experience. Thanks!

When I first visited here about two years ago, the visitors building was under renovation and there…read morewas no way to visit. I'm glad to report that now it's fully finished! Inside there's a counter with maps and the NPS cancelation stamp, but not much else. You also have to pay the admission fee at the counter The ranger there is pretty friendly and I overheard her giving advice to other visitors. There's no gift shop or displays/exhibits yet, but I'm hoping they're added in the future. The restrooms are located outside across the path. There's plenty of bathroom stalls. There's also an informational board next to the bathrooms with information about the area and hiking conditions. The Munising Falls are about 800 feet from the visitor center. The main path is paved with some wooden bridge areas, but overall it's a smooth trail. There's a trail to the lower falls which takes you to the level of the plunge pool, but also stairs to the upper falls if you want to get another viewpoint. Make sure to bring bug repellent since there's plenty of mosquitoes around!

Located inside Palms Book State Park, this natural spring was one of the most unique and beautiful places we visited. The water is crystal clear all the way to the bottom, and you can easily see fish swimming below. You hop onto a self-operated raft that you pull across the water to the middle of the spring, where there's an opening in the center to look straight down. It gives you a perfect view of the vibrant underwater world -- it's honestly mesmerizing. It's a quick stop, but totally worth it. And the best part? It's dog-friendly! Definitely add this to your list if you're exploring the Upper Peninsula.

I purchased a kayaking excursion voucher through Uncle Ducky's / Paddling Michigan during a holiday…read morepromotion and later traveled from out of town specifically for this experience, spending additional money on lodging, gas, food, and travel expenses in order to participate. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disorganized and unprofessional from the moment I arrived. The building was locked, no guide or management staff were present, there was no organized check-in process, and there was absolutely no communication regarding what was happening. Multiple guests were left outside confused and attempting to determine whether the tour was even operating. Company-associated staff eventually arrived but provided no meaningful information until directly prompted. At that point, they stated they were only shuttle drivers and that they had to "figure out what was going on" after the scheduled rendezvous time had already passed. At no point within the first 20 minutes of our rendezvous was there was any clear communication, leadership, organization, or professionalism demonstrated by the company. Considering they're responsible for guiding customers onto Lake Superior, I no longer felt comfortable or safe participating in the excursion and chose not to proceed with 10 minutes remaining until the a scheduled launch time. I attempted to resolve this directly via email since management wasn't present during working hours and present staff couldn't provide a direct way to contact management; however, they refused to issue a refund. The owner instead responded publicly to a review in a defensive manner while claiming an emergency situation had occurred. He even blamed my inability to adapt over his employees vague and unprofessional verbal responses and despite three shuttle drivers being present and not shuttling us to our launch. The issue is the complete lack of communication, organization, professionalism, and reasonable resolution afterward.
