My family and I decided to do a spur of the moment pontoon boat trip since not everyone was able to see the cliffs from the water like my daughter and I from our kayaking trip. I called and the staff were super friendly and able to accommodate me with a rental outside of the schedule online. That saved me $45 by telling me to not book online. We own a boat so it wasn't anything too complicated for us but we were able to take a nice trip up the coast and see all the beautiful rock formations and enjoy the water. I don't know the cost of the tour boats but for the experience and the flexibility to see what we wanted, renting from Seaberg for the afternoon is worth the thought. read more

They gave us very clear instructions of where to go and where not to go. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They brought a wagon up to our car to load with our stuff and brought the wagon back upon our arrival. They made the process very easy! My family rented from this company a few years ago and had a great experience--friendly staff, beautiful lake, smooth process. That's why we came back. But this time? The owner (Bryan) ruined everything. Right when we got there, our group (we're all Asian) was greeted with: "Can you guys speak English?" Yeah. That was the first thing out of his mouth. It was rude, racist, and unnecessary. We were stunned but tried to brush it off to enjoy the day. Fast forward, while trying to close the boat door using my foot (kicking not even forcefully--I just didn't know how the mechanism worked), he immediately snapped and shouted: "Kick my boat again and I'll kick your ass." Mind you, I'm 16. That's an adult man threatening a minor--over a door. No explanation, no patience. Just straight-up aggression. Like I'm sorry I that I ever kicked the door but there is still no justification in yelling at a MINOR that doesn't go on daily pontoon rides and suddenly know how everything works. After that, he told us to "take a picture of your props." We were all confused--props? Like stage props? Personal belongings? The property? Even my dad, who's a trained seaman (of the Philippines so of course their training had to be different), had no idea what he meant. Turns out he meant the propeller--but instead of explaining, he started yelling "PROPELLER!" like we were supposed to automatically understand his vague boat lingo. We're not boat people. We came to enjoy the lake, not operate a ship. The way he barked at us made everything stressful and awkward. And then--after everything he said and did--he had the nerve to ask if we had any leftover food. Sir... you just threatened me, disrespected my group, and yelled at us like we were idiots... and now you want a snack? Absolutely not. Hell no. Plus, who asks strangers for leftovers? Since you took our money, you definitely have enough for happy meal at Mcdonald's. Absolutely bull-... behavior. At that point, all I could do was laugh. Not because it was funny, but because it felt like a bad comedy sketch. The whole thing was ridiculous. The boat ride was beautiful. The other staff were professional and kind. But the owner's behavior was racist, threatening, condescending, and completely unprofessional. We won't return while he's in charge. If you care about basic human respect--go anywhere else. My family had rented a boat from this company a couple years back, and we came back again with a couple friends. We rented two boats here. We were originally going to have a full day on Saturday, July 19th, but due to inclement weather, we had to cancel and reschedule for the next day. We booked a half day on Sunday, and we had an amazing, fun experience. The boat was clean and very well maintained. While we did have a wonderful time, I'm very disappointed that I have to leave a 2-star review instead of 5. Don't keep me wrong, the trip was incredible, but the staff service was awful. When we first got there on Saturday, we met an elderly man (I'm assuming was the owner or co-owner) by the name Bryan. I don't know if his name is really Bryan, but it is according to my friend's mom. He then asked my mother's friend if she spoke English (They speak Tagalog and have an accent when they speak English) and proceeded to say, "we speak English here" as if she didn't speak English. Wow, racist much? We brushed it off because we assumed we didn't have to deal with him again. Fast forward to the next day. We got to the boats on Sunday at around 8:15-20am, and Bryan, came to assist us to our boat and set it up. Off that bat, he already gave us an attitude. He started yelling at us for absolutely no reason, and quite literally seemed like he didn't even want to be working there in the first place. Me and my friends boarded one of our boats and tried to close the gate. The gate was not closing, so my brother tried to give it a little kick, because he (including me and my friends) thought that it was one of those gates where you need to give it a little kick in order for it close. Just as he did that, Bryan yelled at him and told him "Kick my boat again and I'll kick your ASS out". Owners, if you're reading this, I apologize again on behalf of my brother, but whatever your employee or co-owner, whatever just did, it was EXTREMELY unprofessional. And I mean VERY unprofessional, and very rude. A simple "Please do not kick my boat, if you damage it, you'd have to pay for it" would have been a simple way to point out his mistakes. I was appalled when those words came out of his mouth. We apologized and just sat in silence to avoid any conflict. Regardless of any situation, you as an adult should handle it like an adult, not like a kid who has anger issues. It's crazy that a 15-year old boy acted way more mature than you. He then proceeded to tell us to "take a picture of our props". We were all genuinely confused at what he meant by that. "Props" could've literally meant anything, like "property". We are not boat people and don't get boat terminology, so how are we supposed to know that? He then started yelling at my father and my friend's father and pointed to the propellers of the boats. I swear, he was yelling like there was no tomorrow. What kind of person loses his cool over people genuinely confused on what he is talking about? At this point, my father told him to calm down, and he still gave us an attitude. When we came back from our trip, he asked us if we had leftovers from the food we brought. Are you kidding me. I'm so disappointed about the way we were treated. We had a great time, but because of him, it destroyed the mood for a bit. We never had this type of experience when we came here the first time. People trying to rent a boat here, make sure to get a different guy to help you out with your boat. We visited Michigan for our family summer vacation in 2019, spending much of our time in the UP / Upper Peninsula. We knew we wanted to visit Munising as some co-workers recommended it. We planned to stay at the Holiday Inn but they only had one room and we needed two. The same family also owns another hotel, and also some lakefront homes. As we discussed our plans to take a boat ride on Lake Michigan they recommended Seaberg, as we could spend a little less money and be able to pilot our own pontoon boat. What a fantastic recommendation! Seaberg is run by a very nice family who has been doing this for years. They are helpful before, during and after your visit. They helped us find their location (not hard to find, but a neighborly gesture), and helped us plan on what to bring - backpack for snacks and drinks, something to keep the phones/cameras in, towels, etc. They provide you with a map and help you really understand where you are going, which on a cruise along a beautiful coastline... on some chilly but BEAUTIFUL waters of Lake Superior. They provide all you need to know how to drive the pontoon boat, and, in case there were issues, how to get the life vests to be safe. All four of us took turns piloting the boat and had a blast. We were able to chart our own course, and to just park and listen on several occasions. We heard... silence... and birds... and the sound of the waterfalls spilling into the Lake. So nice. AND THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY! Our dog rode with us... he didn't seem to like it too much... he stayed next to us when we were moving and only moved around when we were "parked." BUT he was with us. NICE! The day before was wonderfully sunny, and our day overcast, which was ok... had we been out we'd have tanned nicely, but it was a great day even without the sun. We highly recommend Seaberg and hope to see visit again, soon! read more

But the weather shifted again and they called me and told be the sad news, and fully refunded our rental. But that's the nature of Michigan weather, especially in the U.P. These people are wonderful! They literally saved our vacation. We had originally chartered a pontoon with a professional captain because we were afraid to take a pontoon on Lake Superior. That fell through so we went in search of another experienced captain to take us out for the day. That's when we found the fine folks at Seaberg. He reassured us how easy it is to captain the boat - as long as it is a calm day. And they won't let you take the boat out if it isn't calm. He took us out in the harbor and taught my daughter how to captain the boat. Turns out it was really easy. Me and my buddy wanted to do Pictured Rocks, and we weren't bright enough to plan it ahead of time (two unprepared trolls ‍) We went to try the cruises, they were booked. We went to try the glass bottom boats, they were booked. Even went to try kayaking, and you guessed it, booked. We just happened to stumble upon Seaberg's and to our surprise, THEY HAD A PONTOON FOR US! Honestly it was all a blessing! We weren't on a boat with a ton of strangers, and we didn't have to kayak for miles. It was peaceful, and relaxing! We were able to anchor when we wanted and jump in for a swim, and we were also able to get close to the cliffs and get a ton of excellent pictures! 10/10 will definitely do again! read more

This place was great! Super easy to find and reasonable prices. My boyfriend and I, and our 3 dogs, came here to rent a 1/2-day pontoon (5 hours) at a total of $217. An amazing and simple way to view Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. My two teenage boys loved it! Reservation was quick and simple to make (just do it in advance). Seaberg's was very flexible when our family arrived for our reserved time but the weather was questionable. We were able to move our reservation without extra charges or fees. They made the change no problem and were excited to see us when we return two days later. To check in and get launched was very quick and the pontoons were very clean and nicely equipped. It was a great day on the water. Our reservation was postponed due to inclement weather and we could only do a half day the next day due to our travel plans rather than the full day that we had reserved. This was no problem with Seaberg! Seaberg was terrific getting us on the water quickly, going over everything thoroughly. The boats are very nice and modern. They were clean with lots of storage. Seaberg was very helpful getting our coolers and stuff on the boat and parking. I recommend getting to the dock early and getting on the water ASAP. We had the whole shoreline to ourselves the first few hours. Around 11 there were tour boats putting out big wakes and kayakers around. The whole day was terrific but that first few hours was really nice. I would take this trip again and would go with Seaberg! read more

This is the way to go if you want to see Pictured Rocks! It is way cheaper than kayak tours and you are able to get on the water right when you check in. My group did the 9-2 tour and it was perfect. Wonderful way to get out and see Pictured Rocks, sunken ships and beaches on Lake Superior. We had a great day on the water! Easy to find, friendly and prices were good, we had great August weather and the water was cold, but at the beaches it was swimmable. Dog friendly, we were able to take my sister's dog with us as well. They have carts to help you load your gear and give a small map to you to let you know the sights and rocky locations to avoid. Buyer be aware....make sure you read the same tank gauge when you return the boat. Our gauge was between 3/4 and full, and wanted the shop wanted to charge us 9 gallons on a 22 gallon tank. When the charge should have been less that 5.5 gallons if they were honest. It upset me to an extreme to read these reviews and find it to be lies. Nothing wrong with the boat, but personnel and the owner are very rude. At the end, if honesty would have prevailed the awkwardness could have avoided. This is where this shop will go to make an extra $15.00. Please be sure to understand which gauge to read when you take the boat and return it. Take a picture just to be sure you are not being ripped off. The profit margin is very low and these outfits will go to any extreme to make a buck. And careful with the near relatives who work there; they will threaten or bully you if you try to defend yourself from taking their insults. Bottom line...this shop is not professional and should be compared more carefully. read more

Wonderful time. The day we called to book a trip they only had one morning slot open and the forecast was calling for rain. We reluctantly booked this trip and were pleasantly surprised by a slightly over cast day with water like glass.
