I decided to cancel my original flight. I managed find a better deal via Norwegian Air just days before the scheduled departure. They have free wifi on board, but no free snacks or drinks (I miss Lufthansa). The jet that I boarded was brand new. No individual TV screen at your seat, but they do have a slightly bigger shared screen where they show clips of cartoons and funny animal videos. The plane ride itself was smooth. However, as I was boarding during one leg of the flight, another passenger, who was seated on the other side of the aisle, was not looking while putting away his luggage in the overhead bin. He swung his luggage that promptly hit me in the face. He turned around and offered no apologies but blank stares. I was able to get a bag of ice from its flight attendant but it was one awkward ride since he just stared at me from time to time.

The other time, we stopped at London Gatwick Airport. Check in at Norwegian Air Shuttle has ran fairly smoothly. We check in using one of the kiosks. Then we bring our check in baggage to their self serve counter. All straightforward. Never have spoken with any employee of the airline during the entire process. Flights have been comfortable. Really no complaints at all. Will continue to use this airline whenever we travel to Norway as long as prices remain lower than the competition.

Very modern and convenient airport for Bergen…read more We took the tram from downtown Bergen and for 49Kr per person it was a bargain and only took around 40 minutes. Departures were on the second floor and most people were just checking in on the self service terminals. Baggage tags also printed there and we then had to self drop the bags. Scan each tag and then the machine trundled it away. Security was the slowest with only two lines open. Fast track line was wide open for paying customers. Also people were transferring their small liquid containers into plastic baggies. After security it was easily to walk to the gate. The international gates were the farthest away but only about five minutes of walking. Lots of restaurants located along with upper floors for sit down eating. Water refill stations on each side of the terminal were convenient. Bathrooms were clean and no lines. Seating areas by the gates were quite standard. I know they said to be here at least two hours shared of time but we had a lot more free time to kill while waiting for our flight.

Security took a little bit, due to the manual inspection of my bags after the x-ray. There was a cafe right next to security serving full hot breakfast which was a great way to start my day. Surprisingly, their machine coffee was also decent. Breakfast was pricey, as expected at an airport, but the quality was surprisingly decent. Used the water closet after breakfast and was surprised by the cleanliness as well as the quality of the toilet supplies, from toilet paper, hand soap, to paper towels. I can see the Norwegian standard of living is quite high. Boarding of my flight was pretty much automated using a screen and e-gates.

The place seems fancy so we decided to take a 20 mins walk to nearby shopping center where you can find a grocery market, artisanal bakery and coffee shop, bookstore and pharmacy. Thai takeaway is also there. How convenient! Room is clean, perfect for a night before continue on to next destination. Breakfast is included so will have to update when I have it tomorrow. I was here for a weekend event onsite so it was very convenient to be able to get to the venue and my "temporary home" quickly and easily on foot after I come out of the Bergen airport. I was able to check into my room when I arrived shortly before noon 2 days ago, and had time to unpack and walk around the area before my event started that late afternoon. I am happy that the event organizer arranged our room rate to include full board, as the buffet meals at this hotel were delicious! I enjoyed all 3 meals everyday during my stay here, as the varieties everyday were very good. I had reindeer stew as part of my first night's dinner and it was excellent! I also enjoyed the halibut last night and the salmon this afternoon for lunch. The melons they had at every meal, in addition to the many dessert choices, were sweet and delicious. The room was basic like most Scandinavian hotels that I have stayed, but this one also has a nice couch which could be a nice lounging daybed to just relax in the room. I didn't get to stay in the room too much as I was at the event in one of the ballrooms most of the time from morning to evening, but I had good sleep and rest both nights during my stay. The ballroom is beautiful and the staff maintain the place nice and clean. Breakfast starts at 4am so I recommend anyone who has a early morning flight to catch to stay here, and event organizers expecting attendees coming from different parts of Norway or anywhere in the world to have their conference or event here.

The food was labeled in multiple languages and every allergen shown on every single item out! And for someone with food allergies like me, this means so much.
