There was a nice little park for the little ones and some short walking trails. We petted the goats and took lots of great pics. There are a couple of small shops and a café as well at the top. Actually a lot of places in Norway do not take American Express. Waiting for the railway wasn't too bad. the view inside the railway isnt that great so just pick a seat. No good photos really inside the train. When you get to the top, thats the view you want. There are a lot of seating or possible seating areas around the place. In the summer, I can see it has a chilling spot. During the winter, staying up there with high winds and low temperatures felt like icicles to the face. I only stayed up there for probably 10 minutes. Then I went back down. There is a cafe at the top and a nice restaurant as well. You can order the tickets to stop at the midpoint and you can hike up. That looks much more doable than hiking from the bottom up. It has a lot of twist and turns.

Worst ferry company. Take Colorline if you're going from Hirtshals to Norway. I have a car that is…read moreexplicitly under 2 meters and shorter than 5 meters. It says so in the vehicles manual and in our NAF app. When we got in line a boy with a meter stick came and measured our car and said we were over 2 meters. Mind you, we park in garages that are for cars no higher than 2 meters often. We always take Colorline and always go in as under 2 m high and under 5 meters long. Never an issue. The fjordline boy made us go back in line and pay a difference of 400 DKr and put us on a waiting list because the ferry was full!! We booked a week ago. So then we went back and asked if we could take the ferry that went 15 mins before ours. They let us, but we had to pay an extra 600 Dkr!!! We had to do it because we couldn't chance not getting on the boat we were waitlisted on. They charged us for over 2m high and 5 m long for that too. When we finally got on the ferry we were on a deck with only regular cars. There were almost no tall cars/vans. Not to mention that the ferry was half empty. I can't believe they put us through that and that we're out so much extra money. We will NEVER use Fjord Line again. I would urge you to consider heavily before choosing them over Colorline for that route.

Our ferry was canceled, no notification, no text, no email. The website says there are no messages…read moreabout delays or cancellations. We got up at 4:00 a.m. to make sure to check in early for our 6:45 a.m. departure from Kristiansand to Hirtshals. But when we got there, they said it was canceled due to weather and we were rebooked to leave at 14:30. The weather is predicted to be worse this afternoon at 14:30, so I don't know why they would delay the ferry. No one ever notified us about any of this. We were planning to only stay for the day, so 14:30 is way too late and we aren't going to Denmark now.
