The cruise was very fun and a highlight of our trip. In the beginning, everyone will crowd out on the deck and then the boat will hit high speeds to get to the fjord and many people will go inside. Then they will all come out when you're about to enter the fjord. For a short time, they will let you go outside in the front and that was very cool. There will be yummy cookies at the snack bar and they will sell out. Get one early if you want one. You can also bring your own snacks on board.

Very modern and convenient airport for Bergen…read more We took the tram from downtown Bergen and for 49Kr per person it was a bargain and only took around 40 minutes. Departures were on the second floor and most people were just checking in on the self service terminals. Baggage tags also printed there and we then had to self drop the bags. Scan each tag and then the machine trundled it away. Security was the slowest with only two lines open. Fast track line was wide open for paying customers. Also people were transferring their small liquid containers into plastic baggies. After security it was easily to walk to the gate. The international gates were the farthest away but only about five minutes of walking. Lots of restaurants located along with upper floors for sit down eating. Water refill stations on each side of the terminal were convenient. Bathrooms were clean and no lines. Seating areas by the gates were quite standard. I know they said to be here at least two hours shared of time but we had a lot more free time to kill while waiting for our flight.

I purchased my tickets through the online portal about a month before our trip to Norway. I don't…read morebelieve you really have to do this because the line for ticket buying is pretty short and there are kiosks along the way inside to buy tickets. Also, if you happened to be in the line to buy tickets, you just enter afterwards, instead of waiting in the prepaid ticket line, it's kind of a cheat. At least that's what we observed. The line for the prepaid tickets was extremely long, going down the block for a bit but it did move fast. We got into line around 235 pm and we ready for the funicular around 3pm. For the length of the line, I thought this moved very fast. When you enter the gates to the funicular, be aware of the people counter. It counts down the amount of people that can enter. So if you're a party of 5 people and it says only 3 more can enter, you will be split up if you enter. There are like 5 gates so you have to pay attention if you want to stay with your party. There were MANY people who did not seem to understand this and started yelling at or crying to the kids working the line. There is nothing they can do, it's a safety issue and you will have to meet your party at the top of the mountain. Also, the last lane (most left handed) is for disabled people or people with strollers. It's kind of a d*ck move to go to that shorter line if you aren't one of these people or in a party with one. But karma hits hard and if you do try this little sneak, you'll probably end up waiting even longer because the special car it leads to has a small capacity and that line moves slow. Other than that, this funicular is a nice ride up and down the mountain, with plenty of spectacular views and cute moments to see.

It's open 7:30 - 24:00 on weekdays and from 8:00 - 24:00 on weekends and public holidays. Tickets can be purchased on the website, ticket machine, or ticket counter. We only found out after the fact that it cost more at the counter. :/ Adults are NOK 200, but NOK 220 at the counter. There are two carriages- one blue and one red. They depart every 10-15 minutes. Each carriage can carry 90-100 people, so it does get crowded. The ride is 4-8 minutes and is 848 m (2,782 ft) long, climbing 302 m (991 ft). It's a must in Bergen!

I really enjoyed the electric boat ride through the Nærøyfjord, which is a UNESCO-listed site. Another part of this journey is on the Flåmsbana train which connects Flåm and Myrdal. The scenery is beautiful and they make a stop so everyone can get out and see a beautiful waterfall. This is a self-guided tour. You will use their website to make your choices and they will complete all you ticket information and email that to you. You can also pick your direction of travel, and whether you'd like to complete the journey in a day or have a stopover in Voss or Flam to break up the journey. And finally, you can arrange for the tour group to take your luggage and transport it to your destination hotel. That was absolutely the right thing to do as I saw so many people trying to manage their large roller cases up and down the trains, boat and bus. Carrying an overnight backpack gave us such freedom and ease during our travel day. This journey was a bit long, but we also saw the beauty of this area. I would recommend this particular journey, as well as booking with this group, as they managed everything very well.
