We did the Norway in a Nutshell tour with them and it was our favorite that we did in Scandinavia. We did the tour that started in Bergen and ended in Oslo. The entire journey was so scenic. It was really cool to be able to take so many modes of transportation. The least scenic part was probably the first train out of Bergen. Our favorite two legs were the fjord cruise and the Flam railroad. It's not really a tour in the normal sense. They just book your tickets for you. The transfers were easy to find. We did the premium boat cruise and I think it was worth it. The boat was really nice. The inside had really comfortable chairs with outlets everywhere. There was also a cafe inside and bathrooms. The outside had incredible views. We had a couple of hours to explore Flam which was really nice. We had lunch at the local brewery and browsed some of the local shops. It's a long day. We left Bergen around 8 am and didn't get to Oslo until 11 pm. Unfortunately, our last train was delayed so we got in an hour later than expected. This is an amazing tour with incredible views the entire day. It's relaxing and beautiful. I would highly recommend anyone going to Norway to do this tour!

Trip of a lifetime! There are several options you can choose for your tour. We studied the website and contemplated several different variations before choosing to start in Oslo. I know that some people do this as a round trip in one day, and more power to them, but there is no way on earth I would ever do that (nor would I recommend it for anyone like me who finds long days of sitting on a train/boat/bus to be torturous). I had read several places that you could do this from Oslo to Bergen in about 12 hours but hot damn that would have really been too much sitting around and looking out windows for me, at least. Doing a round-trip to/from Oslo involves taking the night train back and slightly less than 24 hours of constant travel. Godspeed to anyone who wants to try that. As it were, we decided on a one way from Oslo to Bergen over the course of 3 days. We left from Oslo in the morning and took the train to Myrdal on day 1. This train ride was pretty interesting. You can really see the change in scenery as you go from city to county to high in the mountains. You get off the main rail in Myrdal (which is basically just a train station and nothing else) and board the next train down to Flåm. We did stop at the waterfall on the way down, however, as we were visiting in early April, it was frozen solid. Which was interesting. And I understand that during the high tourist season, there's a cheesy water dance by some woman in a costume. Can't say I was disappointed to miss that. The Flåm train was very old timey and interesting. I don't think the workers on this leg of the journey were as happy about their jobs. Since I assume they deal exclusively with tourists, they get a pass on that. We decided to spend two nights in Flåm which was phenomenal. I can certainly see how Flåm may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was a perfect vacation within a vacation for us. It was off-season, very quiet and quaint, very peaceful and totally relaxing. On Day 3, we resumed the Nutshell tour and hopped on the fjord cruise to Gudvangen. The cruise is outstanding. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating and if the weather is even slightly decent I would highly recommend (literally) grabbing a chair to sit outside. Eventually I had to move indoors because it just got too cold, but the glass enclosure on deck was perfect because you still had decent views. When you get to Gundvagen, your bus is waiting and you head to Voss. The bus ride was somewhat underwhelming to me. Maybe because I was tired or maybe because it was such early spring that it wasn't exactly OMG SCENERY!! (A lot of snow and ice). The bus arrived in Voss and we had to board a train to Bergen. By this point it was getting dark outside and therefore, wasn't a whole lot of interesting things to see during the final train ride. Still, the train was comfy and nice. (The Bergen train station was kind of horrifying though, compared to Oslo). Overall, this was one of the best parts of our trip. A few final tidbits: We carried our luggage with us and I was initially worried about that - there is plenty of room on each leg of the trip so as long as you are a fairly light/moderate packer, you won't have a problem. Make sure you really consider the amount of travel you will have to do in one day if you decide to do a round trip. For me, 12+ hrs of train/bus/boat/train sitting would have been unbearable. If you don't mind a long day of constant travel/transferring, then you should be alright. I loved this trip because it didn't feel like a marathon since we stopped midway to both explore a bit and relax. You will need to inform the tour company if you do plan to stop when you book online. (I found much cheaper hotel prices on Orbitz as opposed to the "deals" on the Nutshell website for what that's worth). They will book your transfers accordingly. If you don't have your tickets mailed to you, you will have to physically go pick them up before you depart on your tour. They will send you the pick-up info when they confirm your reservation. Wear layers and dress warmly. You will be miserable if you are underdressed and cold. Enjoy!

we booked 13 tickets with fjordtours.com - Sognefjord in a Nutshell. that was a mistake. the train operator - Vy - had changed trains, thus seat reservations were changed. fjordtours.com never notified us of the change. we put our luggage and sat down on our original reserved seats in car 8. there were other passengers who said they have our seats. it was confusing as we thought our seats were double booked. one passenger told me that Vy had sent her an email notification about the train change and reassigned seats. i sent an email to fjordtours.com, and got a response that our new assigned seats would be in car 2. why couldn't they let us know in advance instead of 30 minutes after our departure, which had created completely unnecessary chaos onboard? i asked fjordtours.com why we weren't notified? their response? "I hope you have found your seats by now. This is an issue caused by the train operators own reservation system, and it is impossible for us to follow up all customers way ahead. The mistake/changes may happen in between when you made the booking, and the day of travel, so informing everyone is both very time demanding and may even be wrong information we give, since we do not know when this mistake occurs. I hope you understand, and despite this enjoy your tour." that response was a cop out. if they cannot keep their customers updated just like the train operator could, then they shouldn't be in the business to begin with. it was challenging for a group of elderly passengers (between 69 and 80 years old to move from car 8 to car 2 with luggage). both train conductors who asked us to move had apologized for the confusion and inconvenience, and both of them said that fjordtours.com was already notified via email about the train change and reassigned seats. and they said that we should be notified as well. the entire confusing and upsetting experience could have been 100% avoided if fjordtours.com made an effort in passing updates/changes from the train operator to the passengers. we sent complaints to fjordtours.com, and they never responded to resolve the negative experience. read more
What a rip off! They overcharge you by almost 3000 krone or USD $350 for booking you on (public) transportation. They do nothing special for what you can easily book yourself. And quote fine print that is buried under some link (not on the main email) about changes and cancellations (basically they won't do either). I've never met a company who was so unhelpful and focused on keeping every last penny of what they overcharged. For Do-It-Yourself (FIY), first, you will need to decide if you are going Oslo to Bergen or Bergen to Oslo. Choosing the latter: book a train from Bergen to Voss, a bus from Voss to Gudvangen, the Flam Fjord Cruise, a train from Flam to Myrdal and a final train from Myrdal to Oslo. During peak season you'll need to book your cruise and Myrdal/Oslo trains well in advance. Watch the dates/times when you book. I do recommend you stay in Flam overnight. Flam is very beautiful and you can get an amazing dinner at Aegir Pub (if you do not stay at this hotel, you'll need to que up early and wait in line). Buy train tickets at www.vy.no and the cruise at https://www.norwaysbest.com/things-to-do/fjords/fjord-cruise-naeroyfjord/ Here are details about DIY Norway in a Nutshell: https://traveladdicts.net/diy-norway-in-a-nutshell-tour/#:~:text=The%20typical%20route%20is%20from,through%20the%20fjords%20to%20Gudvangen read more

I would be extremely cautious about booking the Norway In a Nutshell tour with Fjordtours. When we got on our initial train from Bergen to Flam, we found out that they had double booked our seats. And this was not only us, per the conductor "it has been happening all summer" due to a glitch with the ticketing system. There were several other passengers on board trying to find seats as well. He suggested that our family of 5 "just find seats wherever we can". Thus started our 5 hour journey of lugging our luggage around to different seats because of other people getting on the train with their seat assignments. What was supposed to be an unforgettable scenic ride with our family members turned into a chaotic and stressful situation. I tried to contact them multiple times to get a partial refund due to our situation, but they have been completely unresponsive. read more

Avoid it! It's a scam! They sell overpriced public transportation tickets, there is no signaling during transitions from one type of transport to another, and not a single employee from the company is available to answer questions. You need to rush between connections without time for a proper meal, and if you send emails, they will never reply. I had to complete the last leg in a very uncomfortable bus, and they knew about it in advance but didn't communicate the change (even after I sent an email). This completely ruined the already annoying experience of this tour. I advise you to buy the tickets on your own or pay for a proper tour. You will save a lot of money and have much more fun. read more

Everything went great! It was comforting to know someone had our itinerary in order and that we didn't need to figure out where to go on each leg of the journey. Nice to have a car to leave items in (maybe from a purchase) and to have the flexibility to make an unplanned stop. Plus the extra bonus of someone to help wait in lines for you. Very professional, responsive, and reliable company to work with. read more
Probably the most majestic, wonderful, and long tours I've ever done in my life. Was such an amazing experience that I honestly, couldn't recommend it enough to someone. Okay, here's the thing- it's a long day. You leave from Oslo Central Station at around 8:25am and finish up by taking a train the Bergen, Norway and arriving at around 9:15pm. In that time you take there trains, a ferry boat and one train during your travel. It's a lot, but it's beautiful. As far as the tour was concerned, it was super easy to navigate. It's a self guided tour. You'll get all your tickets prior giving you the the departure times and whatnot and you basically just follow everything through. There really wasn't a point where I was nervous about being lost or forgotten (I was traveling alone). You're going to see many of the same people with you the entire time- don't truly rely on them though, because the Norway In a Nutshell tour can be used as a hop-on-hop-off tour, so they may be going somewhere you aren't. Tip: bring some snacks and a bottle or two of water with you. It's going to be a few house before you get to Flam which is the main place where I saw any real food being sold. You're going to be hungry, and the food is expensive so it's just saving you some money. Get any window seat you can on the bus or trains. Most sides will feature gorgeous views so you won't miss out. The fjord tour from Flam is obviously the highlight and why many of us took the trip. Absolutely breathtaking. I think I took a thousand photos of the same thing. What's great about it when I was on the ferry was that it was packed so you had the opportunity to walk around, get many photos and really take everything in. Make sure to watch the cloud formations- I've never seen clouds like the ones in Norway as they kept changing and shifting. We called them "dragon clouds" because well, thy looked like dragons. The day is filled with relaxing points as you sit on the trains for awhile as the beautiful countryside passes you. It's a long day for sure, but a beautiful one. I had mixed emotions, do I rest? Do I stare out the window to take it all in? I was wiped out by the end of it. You have the option at the end to take the train back from Bergen to Oslo overnight or stay in Bergen (which is a cheaper option as the flights from Bergen to Oslo are cheap). The only negative, if there is one, is that when you get to the locations, there is isn't much time to really explore. You're go, go, go, go. If you miss the train or bus you're kind of screwed and you don't want that. It was around $300 USD for the tour and worth every single penny. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I loved every minute of it and would recommend it to anyone who is in Norway. read more

This was a fantastic tour and I'm so glad that I went. I was looking for pretty much any alternative for a fjord tour while based in Bergen because the cost of this one is insane... but given the generally high costs in Bergen and how this is very much a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you have to do if you go to Norway, I can justify the prices. I did the Sognejfjord in a Nutshell tour and departed from Bryggen at 8am by expressboat to Flam. The expressboat took five hours and made a number of other stops on the way, but it takes you right down the Sognefjord. Our captain was also nice enough to take us down one of the smaller fjords so we could get a view a beautiful waterfall. Can't remember what it was called, but it was great. The expressboat is also one extremely fancy boat. The boat is fully equipped with a restaurant and the seats are super high quality. You can easily move around the boat and have access to an upper and lower deck on both sides so you can take all the pictures that you want. The views are AMAZING. I can't rave about them enough and I'm so glad that I ended up doing it. After you get into Flam, it's pretty much a one-hour lunch break before taking the Flam Railway to Myrdal and heading back to Bergen. The Flam railway is beautiful. I'd recommend you sit on the right side of the train (if you're headed from Flam to Myrdal) because that's where all the good views are. They stop at a waterfall so you can get some pictures, but otherwise I definitely feel like I missed out a bit by sitting on the left side. Anyways, I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone though. It's a good day to spend a day while you're in Bergen and the views in the Sognefjord are breathtaking and something you'll never be able to see anywhere else. tldr; touristy? yes. expensive? yes. but I promise you, it's absolutely worth it. I hgihly recommend the Sognefjord in a nutshell tour. read more
If you are visiting Bergen and DON'T tour the fjords..... it's a fantastic tour, a good deal for Norway, and not touristy at all. It's also a great way to see Voss and Bryggen from the water. also really loved the Flam Railway and Myrdal. If the weather is nice and you are here in the summer, I have been told you should try to book early. read more

Avoid. Fjordtours sells railway tickets for visiting Norway - branded the original Norway in a nutshell by rail and ferry from Oslo to Bergen. They will not refund tickets not possible to used, even though they are able to get refunds from the Vy railroad and ferry companies. In our case we had several tickets for visitors from Japan that got stranded in Kyushu after a terrible earthquake disaster. Fjordtour has a very unhelpful attitude referring to the customer's travel insurance instead of taking care of the customers and offering a full refund as this is the right thing to do even if they will be able to get refunded from their partner railroad/ferry companies. Almost every stop in a Norwegian cruise is going to feature tours of the fjords from this company. However, different cities will have different experiences. This review is for the Bergen tour group. Getting on the ship is kind of a chaotic experience. There is a single, out of the way kiosk where tickets are purchased, so the line to buy winds around various buildings. However, if you've prebooked your tickets online, there are separate lines going directly to the ship. All of these lines run down the same dock, so all of the passengers bottlenecked toward the end of the pier where the entrance to the ship was. The staff struggled at times to manage the flow of people, but we eventually made it on the ship and set off. Bergen is a gorgeous city, so the tour ship heading out of the city passed through picturesque sights. The guide periodically narrated about the landscape and history of the region. We passed by a serene looking farm that was the set of an upcoming TV miniseries. The highlight of the trip was around the halfway point. We were able to pull up close enough to one of the waterfalls for one of the crewmembers to collect some water from it and allow everyone to drink. The water was clear and tasted great. We spent the rest of the trip looking for prime picture spots on the ship. Fjord trips in Norway are almost a requirement, and this trip was worth the effort to get there. Four stars for the fjords themselves, but two for the crew's handling of the boarding process balance out to an even three. read more

Don't book with this company! Our cruise ship came to the port later than anticipated, so we missed our scheduled tour.. we were told that even though it was not our fault, the money will not be refunded. Terrible customer service: had to be on hold for 20 minutes to hear that at the end! Will never deal with them again! read more

We traveled with, Norway in a nutshell, 29/8 from Bergen - Voss - Gudvangen - Flaam & Myrdal. We received our tickets in our mail and got an email from booking@fjordtours 25th of August informing us that they had scheduled a replacement bus from Bergen to Voss and that we should change the bus from Voss - Gudvangen 950 and that the bus would wait for passengers to arrive. That did not happen and we were left stranded by fjordtours and they have not replied back to us in regards to the refund request. Stay away read more

I went on the Sogenfjord in a nutshell tour which begins in Bergen and ends in Flåm. We opted to take the boat out to Flåm and then return via train. We ordered our tickets the day before and received an e-mail confirmation to show up a the TRAIN station. We got to the train station a little early. We thought that maybe the train will take us to the boat? Or not. We found out that we had to run (literally run) to get from the train station to the Fjord tour boat. We barely made it. I guess I'm saying, if you bought the tour last minute, don't follow the directions to go to the train station if you're leaving by boat. We were told the boat wouldn't wait and we made it with a minute to spare, panting and sweaty. The crew were very nice and friendly. That being said, the boat trip up Sogenfjord was lovely, just lovely. The fjords are beautiful and there are many, many photo ops of the quaint, rustic homes that occasionally appear along the waterfront. The water is glassy and the boat ride was easy. The best photo ops were from the front and back of the boat (on the second floor). Flåm is a bit of a tourist trap, but lovely, like the gorges of Ithaca NY. We toured the town in about 30 min which was all we needed. If we'd had more time, I would have liked to kayak or take the boat tour or mountain bike. Next we took the train from Flåm to Myradal then transferred to the train which took us to Bergen. On the train out of Flåm sit on the right side (as you get in from the back of the car) where the best views are. It was 10 hours, but well worth it. read more

I bought tickets beforehand from the tourist office in Bergen, as for some reason the day we wanted to go was blocked out on the Fjord Tours website. The first leg of the trip was the train ride from the Bergen train station to Myrdal. Myrdal has a little shop and café there, but the train was already waiting, so we went right on. This is the train that heads to Flam, and makes the stop at the waterfall. The waterfall is incredibly impressive up close, and you are at the perfect distance from it on the platform to take it all in up close, but yet also have it all fit in one picture. We were in Flam for three hours until the boat left. This would maybe be a bit long to be in Flam, but we enjoyed just sitting on a bench at the end of the dock, looking out onto the fjord while we snacked on the sausage and bread we brought with us. If you don't bring your own food, there are places to eat here, and also a grocery store and reasonably priced (for Norway) souvenir shop. The view is so good that we didn't mind the wait. After this came the boat ride itself. Try to get on the boat early enough to stake out a good seat on the top deck. Even with this, you will wind up getting annoyed with your fellow tourists jostling around to get the best views. Thankfully, for whatever reason, one side was less crowded and we went over there and weren't as disturbed. You can get sausages on the middle deck if you get hungry. The town at this end of the fjords is tiny, and we just went right onto the waiting buses. It heads up a series of very tight hairpin turns that give great views over the valley. Unfortunately, this bus didn't stop to let us out to take pictures like a previous reviewer got to do. The bus lets you off in Voss, where we had about fifty minutes for the train. There is a small town here with a cute church and views over the water, although not much else. We were hungry, so we stopped at an open pizza/kebab place - BIG mistake. The calzone we got was awful. Just wait until you get back to Bergen to eat. The weather was pleasant, cloudier than ideal but we didn't have any rain. There were a few times that the sun peeked through the clouds. Even with the clouds you will still have great visibility. This was definitely the most expensive day of vacation that I have ever had, but a great experience. read more

If you don't have time to read this long review; moral of the story - I do NOT Recommend this tour although you must see the Fjords. 1. Our group of 6 had planned on a Fjord Norway in a Nutshell trip as the highlight of our 5 days in Norway. Back in March at the time of purchase we saw that the premium ship was sold out for our requested date of Friday May 26th. We decided we MUST do everything we can to get on the premium ship as this is a "once in a lifetime opportunity" for all of us. So we booked the ticket for Thursday May 25th KNOWING We would have to leave our comfortable hotel in Olso, Norway at 2am... as in 2 in the morning, as in we are on vacation but it is worth it! 2. WE make the trek and later find out the day of that our premium boat has been cancelled but we would be reimbursed for the cost difference. Terrible, but maybe we could talk with management and get a larger refund and get a good spot on the cheap boat and still make it a great day. We had left at 2am and we will make the most of it as THINGS HAPPEN. We could not speak with any management on request and a gentleman stated "OH the company fjordtours has KNOWN that the premium boat would not be available for the next 10 days and they have known for over a month; you should contact with management after your trip." Are you kidding ? The difference between the premium and standard boat is a huge difference but Ok... we'll keep rolling with it. 3. We sit in line for about an hour so that we will be the first or close to the first to board the boat and begin to realize there are 3 lines. We hope our line goes first then we begin to see a bunch of confusion and the tour guides talking with some of the workers. After waiting an hour and half and realizing our boat was suppose to leave 10 minutes ago; we finally ask some questions as well. They let us know at 2:10 that our boat is now inoperable but don't worry we'll get you on the next boat at 4PM... what about our dinner plans, our bus ride, our hotel check in, the night life in Bergen!! Now our group is really upset and we figure the boat is needing service because we only had about 100 of us on the boat and they want to probably save money. 4. Sooooo we wait in line again for another 2 hours as there was not much else to do and we wanted to make sure we had the most amazing spot on the boat. WELL guess what... those 3 lines... we were the LAST line for Norway in a Nutshell. So the group line went first, the direct ticket line went 2nd and we went LAST even though we were first in line it met that we were about 300 to board. The boat ended up having about 500 people or more on it and we didn't even have a seat for a lot of the tour. IT was a rough experience despite incredible views. We ended up being 3 hours behind schedule, no premium boat, no sorry, no customer service, and NO SEAT on the boat nor great views. 5. The only reason we were willing to pay the $180 and they should refund that as well was because the train ride from FLAM was a very lovely ride so $30 x 6 people would be $180. The rest of the trip was not only worth 0 dollars but it help make our trip to Norway a wreck for one day. Luckily the rest of Norway was incredible and the views were spectacular. Rough - not sure I would recommend this tour - look to book direct and not through Norway in a nutshell. read more
After partially rejecting it because it would be to touristy, I decided to go ahead and book a Norway in a Nutshell tour offered by Fjord Tours for one of the days I was in Bergen, and I'm really happy that I did. You have a lot of flexibility with this particular tour - it's basically a half circle with Voss and Myrdal as the end points, both of which are stops on the Bergen railway between Oslo and Bergen. So do you want to do it as part of a trip between Oslo and Bergen, or as a round trip from either of Oslo or Bergen? Do you want to stay the night in any of the small towns the tour visits? Like I said, lots of choice. I did mine as a round trip from Bergen, even though only a couple days later I was taking the train from Bergen to Oslo. This is partially poor planning on my part, booking the Bergen to Oslo train before I even thought about this tour. But I'm almost happy it worked out that way. Doing it as part of my Bergen to Oslo journey would have meant I'd have had my large luggage and business laptop bag with me on the bus, boat, and train that comprise the loop between Voss and Myrdal. I'm glad I didn't need to struggle with that. So - a train overland from Bergen to Voss. Nice and scenic, running along some rivers and lakes - hint, sit on the left hand side in the direction of travel, there's a bit more to see. Then you take a bus from Voss to Gudvangen, which takes you past Oppheimsvatnet, with (at least when I went) a glassy calm surface. The bus also takes you by the hotel at Stalheim. The view down the Nærøydalen is incredible, and it's right there, right behind the hotel! Some busses might stop and let you out for a bit, but mine did not. The visual you get, even from a moving vehicle, is truly spectacular. It would be worth stopping and staying at the hotel, just to sit out and enjoy this view. Next, an amazing boat trip from Gudvangen to Flåm. This boat ride, especially on a sunny day, is spellbinding. Also be aware that at first, it'll seem as though someone is selling tickets on the last helicopter out of Vietnam, and they're doing so right beyond the railing. Tourists will push and fight for a spot on the rail, and they're not afraid to push you out of the way. It's really obnoxious, and everyone forgets how to act in a crowd and watch out for other people. But wait them out - the boat ride is a couple hours long, and eventually, they all get tired, which is when you can kind of move in to a convenient spot and snap some key photos. I should also mention that the most cost effective lunch I've hat in Scandinavia is on this boat - just under 100 NOK for a soda, a hot dog wrapped in bacon, and some chips. Once off the boat in Flåm, you take the Flåmsbana up to Myrdal. My tour had an inexplicable 2 hour break in Flåm. Which is too much time to spend in Flåm, as where the boats dock is really just a spot where three or four identical tourist shops have set up, as well as a very large hotel. Kill time by going in to the TI and getting a map of the local hikes - you probably have time to do the shortest one, which just gets you up a bit from the shore and lets you see the area a bit better. The train ride up to Myrdal is again, quite visually nice, along sheer cliff faces protected by snow tunnels. The train does stop to let you out at Kjosfossen, which has its own little platform in the middle of nowhere. There's no souvenir sales, no nothing. Just a place to watch the waterfall. Unfortunately, someone has cheesed it up by putting women in red dresses near the falls, dancing to bad dramatic music, to re-enact the legend of the waterfall. Apparently, there used to be creatures hidded behind the mist, luring men in like some kind of Scandinavian Siren. But this bit of tourist pandering just makes it harder to take a picture without some crazy lady in the frame. Wrap it all up by taking the train back to Bergen from Myrdal (or on to Oslo if you have so chosen). It's worth noting that Fjord Tours doesn't provide any of this transportation, but they do coordinate it closely amongst NSB, Skyss-bus, and Fjord1 for all the transport. Everything is clearly marked, and I think connections may even be held (or at least re-booked) if things get jumbled or delayed along the way, since during the Nutshell, a significant portion of the ridership are tour members. My ticket(s) had to be picked up from a rail station - the NSB office printed it out and stapled it all inside a "Norway in a Nutshell / Fjord Tours" branded folio and handed me other branded literature, so they're obviously working in concert with Fjord Tours here. But the process was incredibly easy. They didn't confirm my booking until a couple days after I made it - because they are probably working with the various agencies to ensure room for you. In summary? Hope for good weather (although it would be a good expeirnece I think even if it wasn't the best weather) and deal with all the other tourists. It's well worth it. read more

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Not only did no one meet me at the first stop .. but the worst of it was I HANDED the bus driver my backpack to put on the bus and when I arrived 2.5 hours later it was not under the bus.. my backpack never arrived and never showed up. I have since been called a liar by this company who refuses to compensate me not only for the cost of the trip due to their incompetent driver but claims Their bus drivers know nothing of the incident.. even though it was immediately reported by attending drivers. HORRIBLE HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE.. do not use fjord tours!! Hiring an attorney! read more

The fjord tours were pretty incredible. A lot of it was the natural beauty of the fjords (Californians - think Yosemite Valley, but... larger and with water in the middle, and more of it and holy crap it's beautiful), but it was also just a generally easy and pleasant experience. The route we took was Bergen - Voss - Gudvangen - Flåm - Myrdal - Bergen. 1) Train from Bergen to Voss. Very pretty, but not ridiculously spectacular. Try to sit on the left side of the train to see the most of the fjords. 2) Bus from Voss to Gudvangen. Really nice bus ride. You go down a super windy road and see a ton of waterfalls. You also drive by a pretty remote hotel that's frequented by Norwegian royalty. Neat. 3) Ferry from Gudvangen to Flåm. Easily the best part of the tour. The ferry was fairly large and pretty comfy. If you're not sensitive to the cold, get on the boat as soon as you can, grab a plastic chair, and set it on the deck by the railing. You'll be able to get a seat later when everyone gets restless and starts to move around, but the beginning was (IMHO) my favorite part. The food inside wasn't that bad. Decent hot dog, like some other dude said in his review. 4) Train from Flåm to Myrdal. Really neat old, super steep tram. Sit on the right. Some really nice waterfalls and old farm houses and such. Really awesome waterfall that you stop at halfway up. 5) Train from Myrdal to Bergen. Mostly the same train ride as the one from Bergen to Voss. Most of the time I was just sitting there thinking about how much I loved the fjords. Easily worth the money. I also highly suggest not having to take luggage with you (i.e. not doing the tour that starts in Bergen and ends in Oslo). There would be a lot of lugging it around. read more

DO NOT BOOK IT. NO GUARANTY TO BE ON FJORD CRUISE! We booked the Norway in Nutshell tour from Bergen to Naeroyfjord round trip. It was self-guided, train from Bergen to Voss, bus from Voss to Gudvangen, and supposedly to board a cruise from there. But when we were at Gudvangen, there was something wrong with the dock and the intended cruise ship was not able to dock. All tourists (about 200 people) were standing and waiting under the blazing sun with no information provided. For 1 1/2 hours, we asked the staff there but NO ONE GAVE ANY INFORMATION AND NO ONE TOOK RESPONSIBILITY. There was only one young woman working at the desk and she told us that she was waiting for the call back from the 'tour office'. After 1 1/2 hours, they told us that we would be transported BY BUS to catch the express boat somewhere. NO FJORD CRUISE! Repeat NO FJORD CRUISE!!! There was an alternative fjord cruise to Flam BUT the company did not offer it in order to save MONEY. Most of us spent thousands of dollars to fly in from half way around the world to be on the fjord cruise and they tried save some MONEY??? A few passengers including us refused to miss the fjord cruise and board ourselves to Flam line. We were not allowed at the beginning but we insisted and finally they let us board. THIS IS THE MOST POORLY ORGANIZED AND MANAGED ORGANIZATION. NO CONSIDERATION FOR THE TOURISTS WHO CAME FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. THEY TOOK ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY. NEGLIGENCE AND IGNORANCE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. WHAT A SHAME! read more

Way overrated and quite pricey but if you have never seen the Fjords then is something to consider. Very long tour- the Norway in nutshell is like 12 hours- quite tiring and hundreds of people. Everyone does it so if have full day do it, but otherwise you aren't missing that much if skip out. read more
