Very modern and convenient airport for Bergen. We took the tram from downtown Bergen and for 49Kr per person it was a bargain and only took around 40 minutes. Departures were on the second floor and most people were just checking in on the self service terminals. Baggage tags also printed there and we then had to self drop the bags. Scan each tag and then the machine trundled it away. Security was the slowest with only two lines open. Fast track line was wide open for paying customers. Also people were transferring their small liquid containers into plastic baggies. After security it was easily to walk to the gate. The international gates were the farthest away but only about five minutes of walking. Lots of restaurants located along with upper floors for sit down eating. Water refill stations on each side of the terminal were convenient. Bathrooms were clean and no lines. Seating areas by the gates were quite standard. I know they said to be here at least two hours shared of time but we had a lot more free time to kill while waiting for our flight. read more

Flew out of BER the other week and it was a quick and easy experience. Took the tram from the city to the airport and it took 40 minutes. The tram dropped me off at the basement level of the airport. Bag drop with the airline was fully automated, making it quick and easy. Security took a little bit, due to the manual inspection of my bags after the x-ray. There was a cafe right next to security serving full hot breakfast which was a great way to start my day. Surprisingly, their machine coffee was also decent. Breakfast was pricey, as expected at an airport, but the quality was surprisingly decent. Used the water closet after breakfast and was surprised by the cleanliness as well as the quality of the toilet supplies, from toilet paper, hand soap, to paper towels. I can see the Norwegian standard of living is quite high. Boarding of my flight was pretty much automated using a screen and e-gates. read more

Flew in on a Friday for a Bergen long weekend. Bags came out quickly. A couple of restaurants depending on gate area past security. Saw a pizza spot and convenience store after we exited baggage claim. Light rail (Bybanen) station was an elevator/escalator ride down and Taxi queue was right outside. Taxi/Uber are the fastest (about $65 USD) at 20 minutes to the City Center. E gates have a cafe, convenience store and an Oleary's Pub. Duty Free was impressive especially given the size of this airport. Like that they have play areas throughout-watch out for the Trolls. Big fan of airports with wood floors. Always good when a small airport is uneventful. Clean, modern airport that gets the job done! read more

7/6/2024 - the airport is about 20 minutes away from the Bergen FishMarket. Uber is about 650 NOK or $65 US dollars. The bus is cheapest but takes an hour. The train in an hour as well. We took Uber to ensure were were in time. We arrived about 90 minutes before the flight departed. Clean and well organized airport. Lots of food and drinks here. The duty tax shop is located in the coffee shop as soon you clear security, walk straight ahead. Gates or either one of two directions. See photos for assistance. Flying out of here to Munich now. I arrived at this airport on my vacation to Norway and have nothing but positive things to say about this airport. Wherever you are in the airport there's a ton of natural light throughout the entire building. This makes the vibe feel great and welcoming. The seating at the few gates I sat around were very clean for an airport. Moreover, there are lots of seating options in the airport that are comfortable where you can sit back and relax or read a book. read more

'Ello chaps! Bergen Lufthavn (Bergen Airport) is the area's primary airport, serviced by a variety of domestic and international airlines. The airport is larger than it appears, and it can be quite a bit of walk from the gates to baggage claim. It's a modern, well updated airport that's quite comfortable. A lot of pro's about this airport. Checking in is nearly automated with kiosks for tickets and secondary kiosks to self check your baggage. When the technology works, it works fantastic. Security is also quite automated, although not the fastest. Security rules do seem to different within regions of Norway - and internationally such as the U.S., so don't be surprised if you may need to remove your shoes, electronics etc. Be aware of the liquid limitations too. TOURIST PRO TIP: Once you get through security, go to the book store to apply for your tourist tax credits. While you shop, if you're making purchases that qualify, shop keepers will tell you about the program and provide you appropriate forms. You'll get credits instantly. It's a breeze. There are a variety of shops and dining spots throughout the airport, but - if you have an international flight - SAVE YOUR SHOPPING UNTIL you go to the international section itself. You'll go through automated doors that clearly say 'no turning back'. The prices of products are much cheaper in the international side, thanks to the duty free and tax free shopping options. Depending on where you're staying, I also highly recommend getting into town using the Flybussen. It's worth the extra cost and it saves a lot of time with express bus service right to downtown. Overall I give Bergen's Airport 5 stars out of 5. Nothing to complain about. read more

This is an easy airport to navigate - large enough to offer amenities while you wait for your flight while being small enough that you don't have to rush around the make connections. Airport is about 25min from the Bergen city center. Bag drop, security, and customs are all a breeze. read more

The Bergen airport is small yet very efficient and well designed. I was thoroughly impressed by their self-check bag system, which easily printed your bag ticket for you to adhere. You then deposit it for scanning and it takes it into a secure compartment to disappear away to the plane. Incredibly efficient! Bathrooms were clean, the concourse had water refilling stations, and there are plenty of shops if you have time to kill. read more

Probably one of the craziest airport experiences I have ever gone through, in a good way, but still crazy. Okay, so note these two things: 1. I never flew pre 9-11 2. I'm a nervous flyer So the airport in Bergen is deceivingly large for the area. After check in I wandered around and noticed just how large it actually was which surprised me. Okay, so I got in a line which I thought was their TSA, but it wasn't, but rather, a small line to check your bag. I didn't need this so I kept moving to where I saw more people which ended up being "security". I purchased their fast pass which avoids the long lines. Worth whatever I paid, however, no one ever checked my passport or boarding pass. I just scanned it, along with my items and was on my way. Never once did my shoes come off, in fact, no one took theirs off. Once through it was only a matter of time before we boarded. Again, the process was a breeze. Just get in line and board. No random zones like in American flights. No fighting. Just orderly moving about. Was the quickest process ever. It's just amazing to me how simple, but seemingly unsecured it is. I'm sure they have their checks and balances, but I also remember that I'm not in America when I'm here and things are just different- different in a good way. read more

My experience was uneventful which is my standard for airports and airlines. This was our departure airport after a Viking Baltic Sea cruise. From the cruise berthing to airport was about 30-40 minutes Sat bus ride. Check in was OK with printed boarding passes and we checked our bags. Security screening was much like many other US and European airports. I took a bunch of photos inside secure area were one can wait and get something to eat/drink. I will be back in 13 months for another cruise with this airport my starting point. More news latter. read more

Magnificent Airport! Very modern and efficient. We arrived to Bergen from Copenhagen, and were so pleased that we just had to show our passport upon deplaning, instead of standing in a long line at customs. The airport signage is clearly marked, and easy to navigate without knowing the Norwegian language. Picking up our baggage was also easy, and while there, an adorable little dog and handler sniffed all of us ( I'm assuming this was for drugs). I think the usage of dogs for this purpose is very smart and adds additional security for everyone. Upon retrieving our luggage? We stopped at the Information Kiosk, and received directions on how to purchase train tickets ( sold at Deli nextdoor) . We then took a short ride in the airport's beautiful glass elevator and effortlessly boarded our train. Very impressive, efficient airport. Norway is a very welcoming country for international visitors. read more

As other Yelpers have mentioned, this airport is small. I like it. The folks in Bergen, Norway are fortunate to have such a nice airport. Had a good experience here both coming and going. Upon arrival at the airport, everything went smoothly. Upon departure from the airport, things moved fast as well. We were hanging out with some friends at the airport, and almost missed our flight because we lost track of time. Fortunately, going through security was quick. Going through Passport control took a little longer, but we made our flight. Cause we were late, we did not get to browse the duty free shop as long as we wanted. Also, missed out on the food establishments that were available after going through security. Oh well, maybe next time. read more

I think I like the smaller sized airport the most, there is no stress runnig from one side of the airport to another so you can take your time! That is exacly what the airport in Nergen is all about, been flying through this airport many times this year and never had a problem! I usually fly with Norweigen to Stockholm and it works great, the self check in i super convinent and there is never any lines! Don't be alarmed by the big line att security, I usually get through in 10 minutes which I think is great! They have a couple of restaurants like "Peppes" after the control that does their job! A small taxfree shop for those who like that as well! I like it like this simple and fast, so you can concentrate on destination rather then making the flight! read more

I love smaller airports! Bergen is the perfect example of a smaller Norwegian airport. They have all the amenities of an airport with ease of security. You can quickly get through security of a scan of your boarding pass to get through the turnstiles, no worry about shoes you can keep those on, load your items through the scanner and you are on your way. Finding everything is easy and everything is very clean. I'm sure a lot of people don't have a reason to check out Bergen but I recommend re-writing your travel plans to include a few nights here because trust me the travel through Bergen is easy and the fjords are worth it!! read more

It's much better than it used to be. Very expensive re-modelling of the main areas and bright, fresh and clean. Beware the taxi ride to town! The drivers are absolute sharks and will take you out of the way, missing the new tunnel which cuts the journey time considerably. Norway is an expensive country, but I dislike being fleeced because I'm a visitor. Obviously the Norwegians have managed to avoid Uber and unless you take a bus, you're going to have a big hole in your expenses/holiday money if you resort to one of the local four-wheeled pirates. read more

Best weirdest airport ever. The security didn't check our Identity for domestic travel to Tromso. That was a little odd. The restaurant just past security is fantastic with excellent wine. Really appreciated the airport for its quirky style and ease of travel. read more

Not a bad airport. easy to navigate, can DEFINITELY get crowded to go through security so don't mess around on high travel days (Friday and Sunday). the bus to downtown is quick and easy and just outside. the bar is not bad if you have to wait at the gate but food option are not the best. definitely bring a small snack from town. read more

Like many airports in Europe, this located outside the city of Bergen. From our hotel, I recall that it was a 20 minute drive. Although it is an international airport, it has more of a regional feel to it. I had a 1:00 pm flight on a Sunday, and it was not exceptionally crowded. Checking in was a breeze (Icelandair). Security and passport control had virtually no lines. We had plenty of time to kill in the airport. Unfortunately, there was no free wi-fi, but otherwise there were some stores and cafes to pass the time. Unfortunately, my visit to the airport meant that my wonderful vacation in Norway was ending, but this airport was extremely easy to navigate and use. read more

One of the smaller airports but it is a nice one. Easy to find your way around and they have all the services you need. There is a good selection of restaurants but as anything else in Norway it is very expensive. There is also a large tax-free store. I was missing free wifi but besides that it's a nice place. read more

This is a small airport. You will find there some shops and restaurants. Also cash dispenser and exchange automats. This airport is very clear and has a good connection to the city by bus or taxi. read more

It's a small airport, it's pretty cute. Long security check lines but since there aren't as many flights it's not too stressing.

Pretty easy experience at this airport without long queues.
