Needed to replace it, and Kirk did a great job at a great price. Next, we added a split unit to heat/cool our two upstairs bedrooms. Install was reasonable and it worked well - until it didn't. The business changed owners a few years back, and it's been a struggle to keep the split units working. After some time, Jake came through and fixed our split unit, even adding a surge protector for free. I'm hoping things go smoothly from here. Be aware that surge protection is important on the mountain with all the unplanned outages we face.

For the first part of the week, our furnace heat output temperature would not raise above 65°, and after his visit, as tempertaures dropped outside, indoor temperatures dropped as low as 54°. We told him that cold air was blowing in continuously and the furnace would stop all day long. Jake came to our home and told us a specific part was needed and that he would order it. The last update we received--while nighttime temperatures were dropping into the 30s--was simply that the part had been ordered. After that, there was nothing - for over a week and half. Time passed with no updates, no price quote for the part or installation, and no follow-up of any kind. We were left completely in the dark while living in freezing conditions. Two days ago, we finally called emergency service from ACE HVAC. They drove from Hesperia to Crestline at 8pm, diagnosed the issue, ordered the part the next day, and had it installed that next night. Meanwhile, Jake never even texted us back when we asked him what was happening with the part. Our texts were left on read. Cantrell's installed our furnace/HVAC system just four years ago, and as loyal customers, this level of service is unacceptable. For those of us living in the mountains, reliable HVAC service is not a luxury--it is a necessity. We have limited options due to our location, and companies that serve these areas should understand the responsibility that comes with that. Allowing customers--and their pets--to go without heat for over a week during sub-freezing nights shows a complete lack of urgency, accountability, and basic compassion. We were left waiting with no answers, no transparency, and no courtesy during a situation that should have been treated as an emergency.

We were told we'd have to wait three weeks, but that was better than other places quoted. We have a fireplace, and it was beginning of November, were fine until then. The very nice scheduler said they'd put us on a list in case there was a chance to fit us in sooner. Luckily just that thing happened two weeks out. The repair man showed up on time, and was very clean, friendly, and professional. He asked thorough questions and assess the situation fully. He finds have time us we needed a new heater, but he was very honest. He did a couple of tests to be sure and found that we only needed a new thermostat. He answered all of our questions in detail and in ways that we could understand. He offered to install thermostat for free if we ordered through him. Otherwise, he said it was so very simple to do we can do ourselves, and he even showed us how and sent us detailed explanation on how to do it with one we would go buy ourselves. He offered advice on thermostat types and brands. Definitely will use again!

Never heard back left a couple messages. Then noticed the check had been cashed. Never to hear from them again. Definitely a swindlers way of handling business. I would never recommend this company for any repairs or services. There are plenty of other options. Anyone taking advantage over someone in a predicament is far from honest or worth doing any kind of business with. *had to pick a rating so chose 1 star otherwise I'd give it zero ratings!!

Old Ownership, Hillman: Extremely disappointed does not begin to describe how I feel after recommending this individual to my recently widowed mother. He got lost, although he lives on the mountain, was routinely rude to my mom on the phone and in person once he arrived. She's trying her best, and address shows correctly with exact accuracy on Google Maps. He spoke very kindly with me and then was very condescending to my mom. Therefore I cancelled him immediately and she broke down in TEARS to me after he left, talking about how he made her feel belittled and reprimanded her that she "needs to learn how to give directions". Maybe he needs to learn how to use Google instead! Maybe he needs a lesson in patience and understanding.... in common decency, respect and basic customer service.

What should have been a straightforward thermostat reinstallation and programming job turned into a nearly week-long ordeal defined by poor communication, lack of preparation, and zero follow-through. When I called to schedule the appointment, I was thorough. I mentioned the building is two storeys and that the technician would likely need a long ladder to access the rooftop compressors. I also specifically requested to be contacted directly if anything changed or if unexpected costs came up. Simple enough, right? The day of the appointment, the technician was scheduled to arrive between 10 and 12 PM. By noon, no one had shown up and no one had called. I reached out myself, only to be told he was running late on another job and wouldn't arrive until 2 PM at the earliest. A courtesy call would have gone a long way. Instead, I sat waiting with no update whatsoever. When he finally arrived, there was no direct communication from him either. I had to ask my tenant to pass along a message to have him call me. He confirmed the issue was exactly what I had described when booking: a thermostat that needed to be reprogrammed and rewired. Progress, finally. Or so I thought. A short while later, my tenant informed me the technician had left without completing the job. The reason? He hadn't brought a long enough ladder to access the roof, the very thing I had flagged when I made the appointment. The next day came and went. No technician, no call, no update. I later learned he was unwilling to go onto the roof without a second technician for safety reasons, a policy I can respect, but one that should have been communicated to me immediately and not left to surface on its own. By Friday, I called customer service to get answers. I was told they'd call me back once they heard from the technician. Three hours passed and nothing. I called again. Same answer. Hours later, I called a third time. Still the same response. I eventually gave up, called another company, and they resolved the issue the very next day. As of writing this review, I still haven't received a single callback. Not an apology, not an explanation, not even an acknowledgment that any of this happened. At this point, the message is loud and clear: they simply don't need your business. And after this experience, they won't be getting mine.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
