"Wicked" is an absolutely incredible show -- the music, the staging, the story, and the performances are all top-tier Broadway magic. The vocals alone are worth the ticket price. The only thing that kept this from being a perfect experience for us was our seating. We were in the back row, and while the overall view of the stage was fine, it was difficult to see the actors' facial expressions. With a show that's this emotional and expressive, those little details would have made the performance even more powerful. That said, the production is stunning from any seat. The costumes, lighting, and set pieces still wow from the back, and the story is as moving as ever. If you've never seen "Wicked," it's absolutely worth it -- but if you can, try to grab seats a little closer to the stage for the full emotional impact. This was my second time seeing this. The first time was many moons ago when I was young. Now that I have a grown up job, I can afford better seats Sixth row was so close!!! While in New York, me and a friend went to go see the wicked Broadway show. I'm usually not a fan of their performances, but I must say this was hands-down one of the best productions I've ever seen! The visual effects and acting were amazing, each character looks funny and unique in the music and singing phenomenal. I saw Wicked on 24/05/2025. Incredible show, it was absolutely spectacular. It's a modern classic, and I recommend to anybody. I was almost in the very back, but I still had an amazing view, which I was surprised by (see attached photos - seat J1 on the Mezzanine level). Asked the attendant if she could please take our photo and we received a rude "no!" . Seems like an apropos time to see Wicked, right before the movie (part 1!) comes out! I totally understand the love this show receives. The set design is wonderful. The story is entertaining and quite funny. The songs are superb. I've never had an experience like this where the audience hooted and hollered at the best moments, and the applause almost brought down the house after 'Defying Gravity.' With all that being said, I was finally able to afford a seat that was not blocked by someone's head, only to be sat infront a school trip crowd that kept kicking my seat. But I guess that's the magic of Broadway. Well worth a watch. One of my favorite experiences in the city! read more

Wow! And Wow! What a spectacular show for young and old alike. Set design and the cast had such charisma it was truly an unforgettable experience. The quality of singing, storyline and chemistry amongst the cast was palpable. Nearly 3 hours with a 15 minute intermission in between made for those of us who ever wondered about the possible back story to the wizard of oz, the sheer joy of the make believe and the wonderment we experienced as young kids come back to life. This review is not about the show itself which was absolutely fabulous 5 stars, rather operations of the theater. My daughter and I attended this week, our third show on broadway this year. We arrived about 6:15 for a 7 pm show on a Thursday. The organization of the entrance outside of the theater was absolutely awful. An expectation that people would be able to form a snaking line on their own with no marks or direction. People were left frustrated, accusing others of cutting the line, each guest was truly trying to figure out where the end of the line was and how to get through it. One poor worker was left very loudly yelling at the crowd trying to organize a confused group of well intentioned people. Once we got inside things were more organized. Bar tender was very nice and moved quickly. At the intermission things went badly again. We walked straight to the restroom at intermission where the line became very long very fast. Since this was not our first rodeo we got in line and trusted the process. It was becoming obvious not everyone in line would have a chance to use the restroom. After the men's line cleared out one of the theater workers called women over to use the men's room. As intermission came to a close it was clear people in line would need to make a choice. Use the facilities or miss the first 10 minutes of the second part (this was announced by one of the ushers). I made it back in by literally seconds. The theater needs to deal with both of these issues. Considering how long this has been running and how much tickets cost it's shocking they have not done more to deal with the matter. Easy solution. Convert both floor one restrooms for use by ladies and send men to another floor since they can turn around quicker. In the mean time I recommend you arrive early and do your best to use facilities before show starts and watch liquid consumption. Again the shown itself is wonderful. read more

W-O-W When our family was planning our NYC Spring Break trip, a broadway play had to be on our itinerary. Since my pick didn't get enough votes, I was a little hesitant about Wicked. By intermission I was eating my words! My mind was blown! Our performance was even missing the regular Fiyero and Elphaba. Fiyero was played by Christian Thompson and Elphaba by Lissa deGuzman. And the show was still amazing! To be honest, my most favorite musical ever would be Cats because it was my first musical and has special meaning for me. But this performance of Wicked was unforgettable! Everything was perfect including the Gershwin Theater. So much history and beauty. The tickets were pricey for the "floor" seats we got, but it was worth every penny. If you get the opportunity to watch this New York broadway production version, do it. You won't be disappointed. Now I can't wait for the big screen movie version coming out at Thanksgiving. The costumes, story, music, singing... if Wicked was a cult, sign me up! read more

I came to this play knowing nothing about the story and dragging along my significant other who didn't want to go. At first it started playing out like a teenage drama movie but started getting interesting after the first 20 minutes. The character development was great and the singing was phenomenal. Loved the set pieces and costumes as well. My significant other loved it after all the grumbling about going and we now listen to the music at home together. Loved it so much. I am no connoisseur on critiquing the crew's performance but as an audience, I feel Alexandra Socha (Glinda/witch) absolutely slayed it with her powerful voice and range of singing belting out one of the most memorable performance I have seen. We came her the first week after reopening since closing for covid. We had to provide proof of 2 vaccination shots and wear a face covering. We did see a few people without masks In areas they were required. There were great souvenirs and some displays of photos and relics of the wizard of oz movie. They had some snacks and drinks. Everything was ridiculously overpriced of course. We had some cheap seats in the upper mezzanine but were able to see and hear great. The staff seemed to be a little relaxed with some of the rules. I was so concerned about being late and missing the first act, but they let people in late. An usher told me that I couldn't bring a drink in, but then when I walked passed her anyway, she didn't persist. The show was phenomenal. I laughed and I cried. The cast was extraordinarily. The songs and dialogue were great and the story took you for a ride. I was really blown away by what a great experience it was. read more

This is my first Broadway Musical review, so take it with a grain of salt. It was absolutely amazing! From the stage setup to the acting to the angelic voices of each and every cast member. Without giving anything away, the method in which they wove the story of "Wicked" around the classic "Wizard of Oz" movie was fabulous. The two main female leads (Glinda and Elphaba) have voices that are both beyond my comprehension. Range, perfect pitch, and the ability to go from speaking a sentence to belting out a grand note in a split second is truly astonishing. The choreography was great as well. I couldn't recommend it enough. Even to a Broadway noob such as myself. read more

I've seen Wicked at least 3 times, but thought it was the perfect pick for my 11 year olds first Broadway show experience. Turns out I was right because she absolutely loved it and asked if we can go again when it comes to Chicago this fall. Guess that will be 5 times for me! The show itself is an amazing story for an all adults and kids and really gives a good message. We had fabulous seats in the 2nd row orchestra, but feel like anywhere in this theater would be ok. As of now no vaccine cards required, but they are strict about wearing masks. They also don't allow food and drink in the the theater, although my daughter and her friend managed to sneak in some m&ms from M&M world and slushies after intermission. Just don't put them in your purse since they tend to check those. I think this show gets better and better with every viewing and can't wait to see again next time! read more

THE SHOW IS AMAZING! the 4 stars is bc they sell all these food and drinks but don't allow you to eat or drink them in the theater...but where is that information in advance? other shows, last i went, allowed you to do this. we didn't buy anything for this reason. the theater is nice. semi stadium type seating. it's a busy show! the show is awesome, totally worth it. restroom lines very long. some of the attendants super friendly, others not really. you need proof of vaccination and a mask the whole time. it's about 1.5 hr, then intermission, then 1.5 hrs. i didn't love the songs but overall loved it and found it funny as well. i'm not giving anything away, if you haven't seen it, go watch. ticket prices vary, we went on a Sunday night, row N for two people, including taxes etc around $300. they have cheaper ones, no worries. great for family, friends, dates..,you name it. they sell souvenirs too. can't take pics/video inside. we had online tickets we scanned. get there a little early, there is always a line. show does start on time, don't be late! to go the bathroom before. great show for kids. if you get a chance watch The Wizard of oz beforehand for a refresher. enjoy! read more

Our family was in NYC for one night, so we had to do a broadway show. Lion King.....until we learned that almost all shows go dark on Mondays!
