Went here as a group outing for work. The staff is helpful and engaging. First you smell a LOT of scents and write down several you like the best. Then you pick what you want to create. There are candles, sugar scrubs, body lotion, hand soap, room spray, reed diffusers and wax melts. Then you sit down and the staff gathers your scents and lets you smell them together and makes recommendations for which ones go together best but ultimately it is your choice. I made a body lotion. This was a fun afternoon activity. Walking in, we were greeted by one of the store employees who walked us through the relatively simple process of choosing scents, finding a jar, joining her at the bar smell our combinations, and making our products. They have an abundance of options for scents, 93 to be exact. So, there was a lot of smelling to be done. The variety was impressive - from fruits to foods like basmati rice, chai tea, pecan pie, maple syrup, creme brûlée, and baked bread, to other things like dad's den, lemongrass, mahogany, and patchouli. Given the proximity to the holidays, winter options like Christmas tree, candy cane, and pumpkin spices were in the mix as well. The employee helping us had us smell the scents we had chosen in combination, and she recommended that we choose two to three for the candle. Once we were able to smell the oils, it was easier to narrow down our choices. She poured the hot wax into the jars we'd chosen, and we stirred in our mixes. We repeated the process for the body sprays. After grabbing lunch nearby, we returned 90 minutes later to pick up our products and they were ready on time. The jars ranged from $25-$35 and the body sprays were $18. They have a deal - buy three and get one free so we ended up doing that. I'm so glad I was invited to THe Wick. I told everyone I knew about what an amazing time I had. My best friend and about 15 other ladies reserved the entire facility for a bridal shower. They were able to bring in food and drinks. The staff was hilarious and very patient because it was most of our first time there. They went over all the safety rules first and we were allowed to go and smell all the hundreds of fragrances in the facility so we can make our candles. We made 2 candles a piece but there was other options to make body sprays also which I thought was cool. We created our own labels for our candles which was funny because I'm not creative at all lol. Omg, this place was very nice, and love the wall sampling of smells from books to autumn leaves to sea kelp! Very interesting senses!!! Came here during the first week of February with a girlfriend in the afternoon. The staff was friendly and welcoming. You could also make fragrance oils, room diffusers, body mists, etc. The candles are made out of natural soy wax which is great! The staff gave us a form to fill out so could write down our top smells. Out of the majority of smells I wrote down and smelling the oil, the top three were Goji Berry, Sea Kelp, Earl Grey Tea. I chose a nice blue-green jar. It was cool mixing the oils to find the perfect smell for our candle. It also takes about 90 minutes to be made and cooled so we left for lunch and picked it up afterward. I have a couple of birthday shenanigan friends- my first Jacksonville friends I made when I moved here 5 years ago- and we celebrated my recent birthday with candle making! When you arrive, they provide you with a clipboard and a pen, and all of their scents are on the wall grouped by type, such as floral, outdoors, etc. You notate your favorites after smelling the roughly 100 scents. Let me start by saying what I was expecting. I thought this would be an experience you had to plan like 2 weeks in advance. I was also expecting it to cost $$$ big bucks. I'm happy to say that I was wrong with both of these assumptions! We walked right in, had everything explained to us and got to candle making! This is one of those places you hear great stuff about and mean-to-stop- by, but find yourself months later going... "Oh yeah, I meant to visit that shop". Well, take some good advice from me; go visit. WICK is located in the San Marco area. For those of you familiar with San Marco, it's in the same place where the old La Napolera was a while ago. There is plenty of parking and the hours are super convenient. As you enter, you are greeted by friendly staff who give you instructions on how to start your fun. My niece and I smelled all the scents then wrote down our favorites. We consulted with the staff and narrowed down our selections to create our favorite smell. Then we picked out our containers. We chose the 30$, 3 wick vase but they have smaller ones for a little less. We mixed our smells to liking, stirred them in, created our labels then left the store and picked up our finished product the next day. (* It takes an hour and a half for your candle to firm. WICK will hold your candle for you as long as you like.) It's a little expensive for a candle but when you think about the novelty and experience it was well worth it to us. I'll be buying gift certificates for Christmas presents this year and hope to return with friends and family. read more

This has been on my list of things to try for awhile now and I'm so glad that I finally got around to it! My friend and I, whom are both candle enthusiast, finally decided to try this out on a Saturday around 4pm. We were greeted immediately by their lovely staff who directed us to a spot at the candle bar to drop our purses off and begin the process. You are quickly walked through the process by a staff member and then handed a clipboard that reinforces all the steps in case you forget. To begin the process you are overwhelmed by the amount of scents available to choose from that covers the entirety of the wall. Anything from bacon to cannabis is available in candle form. I would definitely recommend taking your time to get a whiff of all the scents available as my friend and I did. You can even buy the single scent candles if you find a scent that you love. You write down all of your favorite scents that you sampled to later combine them into your perfect candle. After you finish selecting your favorite scents, you move on to select the jar that your candle will be made in. They have a good amount of options to choose from. I decided on a matte white jar with a gold interior. The remaining steps in the process all happen at the candle bar. A staff member will help you narrow down to at least 2-3 of your favorite scents. Once have your final scent mixture you pour the oils to create the perfect combination. I decided on chai tea, vanilla bean, and caramel while my friend chose coconut, champagne, and white tea. You create a label that will go on the bottom of the candle while your wax is being poured into your jar. The final step is combining the oils and wax in your jar with a spoon until everything is evenly distributed. After that, you pay for you creation via their handheld card reader. I was surprised how reasonable the prices were ranging from $21-30, prices range dependent on the type of jar you select (prices are listed beside each jar). They even offer a healthcare or military discount! The candles will need to cool down for about two hours and then you can pick your creation up. We took this time to walk down to San Marco square and get a bite to eat. Once we returned to pick our candles up they were nicely packaged in a gift bag that included initial sheet we had from the clipboard, care instructions, and topped with tissue paper. Overall, this was a unique and fun experience that we are already planning to do again. In addition to the diy candles you are able to purchase some additional merchandise including hand soap, scrubs, matches, etc. You will need to account for time and ensure you get their more than 2 hours before closing time, if you'd like your candle that same day. A huge plus and incentive for me was their recycling program, if you return your jar you will get $2 off your next candle. I went for a girl's night out, and it was a great spot for a little group like ours or a place to go on a date. The price is comparable to a higher quality candle plus you get the experience. We were given a clipboard to write down our favorite scent and then led to the big wall of different fragrances to take our time smelling and making a list of what we like. Then the staff helps us narrow it down to a good combo. We use the bottles to add the fragrance the way we see fit and then they finish the candles. It takes a while for them to finish them so we went by Starbucks while we waited. So it's perfect for grabbing a bite to eat or stopping by a coffee shop then coming back to pick up the finished product. I think it could benefit with some added activities... maybe let customers have the option to choose colored dyes to create a colored candle instead of all white. They also let you decorate the label for your candle with markers. Maybe allow customers to somehow print a label if they want it to look more professional, especially if they aren't super crafty. We were planning to do this as an activity without the kids, but our provider became ill, so we decided to keep plans and still go. It was an amazing experience, about an hour in length, and the staff catered towards the children. It felt like an outing out where we could still be parents and enjoy the activity and not be more focused on the children than our part in the activity. We brought 3 children, ages 2, 5, 10, all boys, and they loved it too. They were given their own sheets to pick out their scents, the youngest just to color, and we didn't even ask for that. They provided more coloring when picking out the combo of scents, more engagement with them and the adults, it was very well balanced. Great advice on which scents went together, and it didn't come across as a burden at all when wanting to experience different scent combinations together, even for our group of 5. No rush was felt. The place is super cute; set up to accommodate 10 people at a time, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and encouraging. The shelves are full of amazing scents that yo pick 4/5/6 scents to make you own creation. You can choose from candles, sugar scrubs, body spray, room deodorizer, and/or wax melt bars for the warmer. It is so much fun mixing scents to make a unique smell that is ALL your own. Candle jars are plenty with a wide range of choices to fit your style. Keep you eyes peeled for specials...gift bags, and IF you bring back your jar the next time you go...you get a discount! It's a great way to spend an afternoon making candles! very fun activity, but is pretty pricey if you actually decide to buy something. the staff were kind and helpful. wide variety of scents so you'll find at least one you like. don't go with a big group unless you're making few candle/room spray etc because it adds up very quickly. read more
