I really liked the store, but it was too rich for my blood. I was looking for a nice package of, "thank you notes, but not for $20.00-up! I thought the Vera Wang thank you notes were pretty and nice($$$). I did find a nice purple card holder 50%. It was $30 or $35. I needed a new one, so I did buy it. I also purchased some body glitter. It was a pretty good size jar that will last a long time for a reasonable price. The Ladies working there did not seem overly nice, but they were polite. The store is packed with all kind of wonderful glassware and other cool things. All nice, but $$$. I did leave happy. read more

Located in San Marco Square, the Write Touch specializes in cheeky stationary, various trinkets, and fun finds for the intellectuals in your life. Based off the name of the store alone, you know the puns are on point. Ultimately, I entered with a game plan. For Mother's Day, I knew my mom would dig this store and the stock on hand. After some searching, I bought her a "Mommin' Ain't Easy" card, a bougie journal and of course, sea salt caramel chocolate balls. She LOVED it. Now, since it was the day before Mother's Day, the store was crowded. Space is cramped between the aisles, so you'll just need to make do when children and dogs are scrambling around the place. Seems like other people have been the victim of short service, which didn't happen to me. It took a long time to check out, but the woman was perfectly pleasant. Would definitely return when in search of odd ball cards for any occasion. read more

It is a shame that a beautiful store with such nice inventory, and the legacy that was Doris & Kiki, is plagued with a terrible cloud of disdain. I casually looked behind the counter to toss a wrapper in the trash, when I was abruptly told there was a trash can out on the public street. I continued to shop for a gift assuming it was a one off. I purchased several items, and still not so much as a smile? Sad, and from the looks of other reviews it is pretty much the norm! In a time when stationary has become the rarity, you would think airs and assumed station would be less of the obstacle. I used to love the Writing basket at the beach, and there is a very friendly and helpful stationary store two doors down, or Forest next door at the Wardroom is very pleasant to shop with. You've got to be a certain type of geek to appreciate stores that specialize in high end stationary and writing implements. I'm am that certain type of geek. In fact, I desperately scoured Jacksonville and the surrounding area for anything resembling a pen store and this is the closest thing I found. I personally collect fountain pens so I was hoping for a bit more selection when I ventured out to the San Marco shops but found little if anything that suited my needs. You'll find a few Lamy pens and some low-end Parkers but nothing interesting or high-end. This is more of a stationary store that seems to cater to cards and event planning paper supplies. You'll find some very nice (although extremely over-priced) stationary packs by manufacturers like Crane & Co. but most of it is the type of thing you may buy once for a special occasion and then realize you don't need something that fancy to send a quick letter to your mom. Most of the Crane & Co stuff is fountain pen friendly however, so that is a welcome sight. The staff here are not at all friendly and actually seem a bit indifferent to your presence. That was okay with me though because there was little that I found myself interested in. I really wish this store had been what I was hoping for but it looks like good pen and paper stores have become a thing of the past.... read more

The Write Touch is a great little shop in San Marco that sells a large assortment of stationary [and stationary essentials] for just about any occasion you can think of. I came in here when I was getting married to look for potential wedding invitations. I have come in here to find invitations for birthday parties, baby showers, bachelorette parties, etc etc etc. The selection is pretty upscale and has a definite southern bell kind of charm to it. You should probably slip into some J. Crew chinos or a J Ashley dress before heading in, just to fit in with all the paper goods. That is not to say they don't have funky stuff... it's just funky in a debutante kind of way. The prices are really pretty reasonable, if you are accustomed to the paper goods market [which is universally a little expensive]. I love this store and have been inspired on a number of occasions to either host a particular kind of party or to theme up an already occuring party that was developing a little blandly. The staff is friendly and very helpful. All in all, the experience reminds of a time when people actually put pen to paper, and the romance and personality that can only come from that kind of communication. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. I don't even know where to start. The women working in the store seemed to have an edge immediately upon stepping in the door. I was there with my sister to pick out wedding invitations. The employee Lisa was exceptionally rude and extremely verbally aggressive as another employee tried to assist us in discussing wedding invitations. My sister told Lisa that the other employee was doing an amazing job helping us, to basically imply we didn't need her help. Lisa immediately raised her voice and started aggressively explaining "how she too was doing an amazing job." Based on how this conversation was going, we started to excuse ourselves and told Lisa and the other employee that we didn't think we could work with them on the invitations if this is how they treat customers. Lisa started screaming at my sister and I to get out of "her store," and aggressively was walking at us telling us to leave. My mom wanted the owner's name and number. Lisa continued to be verbally abuse, storm around the store and say very rude things to us as we got the name of the owner and her contact information. When we called the contact information it was Lisa who answered. We were not able to get in touch with Carolyn. We later went to two other stationary stores (one even all the way at the mall) and both stores told us we are not the first to hear these kinds of things about "The Write Touch" and could not believe they were still in business when they are treating so many people this way. In a time where small businesses are trying to make ends meet I do not know why they would turn away $1500-$2,000 in business. This store should be called "The WRONG PLACE!" DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE. My sister left San Marco very upset over how she was treated trying to purchase her wedding invitations, and will never forget this "SHIT SHOW" for lack of a better term! The people work at this place is god awful. Don't even bother. read more

It's sad that the $30 invitations we saw at Michael's were better than the ones that we saw at The Write Touch in San Marco. I also love being profiled by the people who work there. You can always tell when you're purposely being ignored because you're either fat, young, or don't look like you're going to drop a lot of money. We fit all three. The woman who helped us basically handed us 5 binders and disappeared. I showed her what we were interested in and she didn't bother to show us any similar invitations in the store. If there was a possibility to give a negative star, I would do that. Horrible service. It seemed as if we were a bother being there. Not once were we asked if we could be helped, but we were clearly in need of some. We stood by the stationary area in the back (we wanted to order new personalized stationary) The owner walked by us and didn't even look at us. Just a weird vibe all around. I'm an avid buyer of all thing stationery. I happened to be in the San Marco neighborhood and saw this store. As soon as I opened the door, I knew I could spend a significant amount of money here. BUT not one salesperson said a word to me. I browsed the store and liked the selection, but the salespeople made me feel small. They did help a woman who didn't walk in with jeans, like I did. As I walked by the salesperson and only other customer in the store, I couldn't even walk by them to look at an item because the salesperson wouldn't simply move. I felt completely unwelcome. I think as stationery becomes less used, a business like this would welcome any and all customers. As a stationery fan, I would frequent a store like this often, but never again will I set foot in this store. read more

We went into The Write Touch on a whim walking by because they were advertising their golden retriever, Nick, was "IN." Little did we know that should have been read as a warning. Ten steps inside and their dog (which up until now we assumed was friendly--thus the advertisement) comes barreling out of the back office growling and violently attacks my terrier. Afraid for my own safety I am finally able to grab ahold of Nick's collar and save my poor traumatized dog who, as of now, appears only shaken and not seriously harmed. This store should have a "beware of dog sign" mounted. Obviously I am a dog lover but not all dogs should be unleashed in a public setting--especially without a warning! read more

I agree that the store has some really unique gifts and quite an impressive selection of stationery items. I am, however, also very disappointed with the customer service. My fiancee and I ordered wedding invitations and received a proof (which they charge for) back with the wrong name on it. The "manager" blamed it on the printing company, but her lack of compensation for the mishap and her relatively absent assistance in choosing stationery our first go around did not make it any easier to swallow. She offered us no additional guidance, until I demanded it and told her of the importance of customer service in giving our business to someone for this substantial purchase. We tried again, decided to give the benefit of the doubt. While the manager did spend more time helping us choose stationery, the next quote still had a charge for a proof even though the reason we had to look back at stationery in the first place was the poor customer service and name error. Additionally, the manager kept steering us away from looking at additional stationery items like menus and place cards so we could get an idea of what our entire suite could look like. The result was feeling rushed and unwanted. After taking our business elsewhere, we also found that their prices tended to be higher for lower quality brands and items. It's a beautiful shop with great products, but I could care less when I can find these products online or elsewhere and enjoy the experience more. It's a wedding purchase--be helpful and interested in your clients, because they're always looking to cut costs and be treated well for the amount they're dropping on these items. read more

disturbing customer service. my husband and son and i live around the corner and went in this evening to pick up a few things we'd seen in the window for our grandmother. the door was locked, but we were assured they were open when one of the workers very nicely invited us in and we were greeted by their large dog. we have four dogs ourselves, so our nineteen month old (who was about five feet from the animal) immediately began waving excitedly. the dog jumped a bit but wasn't aggressive, and i assured the saleswoman that our son wasn't afraid. in the same moment the owner rushed up from the back of the store yelling the dog's name. to be polite, i reassured her, too, that our son wasn't frightened, that we have four dogs, that her dog is beautiful that- and she snapped at me - snapped, "I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT YOUR CHILD, I'M CONCERNED ABOUT MY DOG." word for word. i just stood there flabbergasted for about three seconds thinking she would explain or backpedal, but nope. so i said, "you know, i think we're going to go." we went next door, where we often frequent anyway, and did our shopping there - as they mentioned, "we like dogs AND kids here." if you don't like children, that's okay, but please don't insult a customer's. also, if you don't feel comfortable with your dog in your store, perhaps you should either not have him there or not invite customers in. i happily pay a premium to patronize the boutiques in our neighborhood square to ensure that the small businesses in san marco survive and that the spirit of our community's unique and charming shopping district exists. i'm as sincerely saddened to leave this review as i am by the terrible service we received. read more

I love supporting local business, and I love stationery, but I will never go to this store again. Customer service is woefully lacking, unless you have the right look - the tall, good looking gentleman before was treated splendidly - and the goods are pricey. But the worst part is the shopkeeper. When I tried to switch out a fountain pen because it was the wrong color ink, she just handed me a new ink cartridge and told me that would fix it. It didn't, actually, fix the problem. The biggest problem was the blatantly racist attitude she displayed when a young, black gentleman came in and asked if the shop was hiring. She not only said she would tell the owner (according to the website, she IS the owner...), but she laughed at the young man when he left. It was disgusting. Cool little store but a bit pricey and pretty much no service whatsoever.

I went to The Write Touch about a year ago and my experience was rather unpleasant. When I walked in, after standing around, rather lost for a few minutes, I was ignored. You can't tell who works there and who doesn't. When I finally could distinguish who worked there and who didn't and tried to ask for help, I was given the "wait a minute" hand signal so that the girl could finish her social conversation. I've worked in retail. You help your customers. By the time someone did get around to assisting me, I had already found something I was looking but could not find any basic parchment (or specialty or any other kind of parchment). When I asked, the woman kind of just sneered at me. So I left. I'm not a fan of being slighted when trying to find something specific. I would've purchased (and gone back to purchase more) writing supplies and stationary there, but not with that attitude. Also, if you have a store full of fragile, glass, breakable things, why on Earth would you bring a giant dog to work? Just out of curiosity on that one. The bottom line is, if you don't belong to the employees special little social group, you won't get service, or if you do get service, you will be slighted or looked down upon. They certainly don't seem to care about getting any new business. This is San Marco, we're talking about, so I'm not that surprised. And a writing store that doesn't sell parchment? Really? Do yoourself a favor and go around the corner to Reddi Arts - they have a much bigger selection, they are much friendlier and far more helpful. read more
