Tacos tasted really good and it would go back here except it's 136 miles away from our home but we probably will try to make the trip anyway

I had called 30 mins prior but they do not do reservations but I gave them my info over the phone anyway. Upon arrival, I did get seated rather quickly with my group of 8, but that's not why I took off 2 stars. This would have been a 3.5 star restaurant because the food was good when it finally came out, but the key word is finally. Once we ordered, it took about 1 hour for the food to even come out. For a small breakfast restaurant this is just ridiculous. We saw 2-3 other tables that arrived after us that received their food. It tells me they either only have 1 person in the kitchen, or they're not prepared for a Sunday crowd. Either way, they're were not prepared. Our group ordered both lunch and breakfast items but based on the foods that were coming from the kitchen, they chose to only cook the breakfast items and bring those to other tables. I chose the chicken fried steak since the menu indicated it was hand-breaded. I picked Texas toast as my bread, and green beans and mashed potatoes as my sides, expecting them to be basically canned and powdered potatoes. The sides ended up being fresh green beans cooked well done with caramelized onions which were very flavorful. The potatoes were homemade as well with cream gravy, but needed some additional seasoning. The rest of my group loved their food too, as all 7 other plates were cleaned with no food left. Just when we thought we were in the clear it was time to pay. Well, that didn't go all that well either. Our waitress was busy bringing orders out and catering to another newly seated table and going back and forth to the kitchen getting them anything and everything to go along with their meal, meanwhile we had our check ready and she bypassed our table 2-3 times and didn't look our way. I didn't want to be rude since she was nice, but she was in over her head and beyond busy apparently. Three stars is being nice here, but we did like the food....so that's their saving grace.

Came on a Sunday with my toddler, and it was very busy so I expected a bit of a wait on things. I have been here before for Sunday brunch with a large group and had a good experience, but today was not great. Got seated after only about 15 mins - totally reasonable. After that, multiple things went wrong. 1- I was initially given a high chair with a broken buckle, so I didn't fasten the straps and my toddler slipped down through the opening. She was ok, thankfully, and we got another one with working buckle. 2 - lots of flies. I felt like I was fighting them for my food. At one point I counted 5 at a time. 3 - I wasn't given utensils when I was seated or at the same time as my food. My food was served, then I had to wait for the waitress, then wait for the utensils. 5 mins of calming the hungry screaming toddler and watching our food cool down was not very cool. Same thing happened to the table next to me. 4 - they ran out of cups, and my coffee was served in a styrofoam cup with a plastic spoon. It tasted like plastic and I didn't enjoy it. When I saw that I was charged $4 for it, I asked the waitress to strike it from my bill, which she did. Individually these things were not a big deal, but overall it was just not great. I believe the waitress was just overwhelmed and doing her best.

I stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning and was really surprised by the crowds, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. It reminded a lot of B Matthew's in Savannah, which if you know, is a good thing! I initially went for the croissants based on the recommendation, but ordered the Biscuits with Gravy in addition to a loaf of sourdough, a croissant, and a few back to school theme cookies to bring onto the kids! The biscuits and gravy was phenomenal, and I really liked how they added scrambled eggs to top them. This is something I've never seen before and the result was great! As far as the bakery items (croissant, sourdough, and cookies) I feel like my review won't do them justice because they weren't eaten until I got home a few days later. Bottom line, I will be stopping in at Hester's every time I visit Corpus going forward. A definitely must try!

I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did! The café is absolutely charming with a bright, cozy vibe that makes you want to sit back and enjoy your morning. I ordered a coffee, the French toast, and everything tasted so good, fresh and was made with care. It was one of those breakfasts that simply puts you in a good mood. Even though the café was busy, the staff never seemed rushed. They were kind, welcoming, and made everyone feel taken care of. If you're in Corpus Christi, I'd definitely recommend stopping by for breakfast. Good food, great coffee, and a lovely atmosphere--I know I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

There was a large dead roach just outside the women's bathroom. The inside of the restaurant felt very dirty/sticky. I asked the waitress if their water was filtered and she quickly answered "yes"... it was NOT filtered water, as you could taste it. The kids didn't eat their waffles because they said they tasted like a funnel cake. The omelette was as expected for a Denny's omelette. I ordered the salmon with double broccoli because the menu showed "Alaska Salmon" and said it was wild caught and natural, etc... it did not taste like so. The salmon was very light pink (which to me says it's NOT wild). The menu gave me the impression it was Wild Alaskan Salmon company, so I ordered it, because it was advertised as so. I do not think it was from the company I thought it was. It has a very watered down taste, like it was in a water bath before being sealed and frozen. The broccoli was also obviously frozen broccoli, which is fine if that's how this company operates. I'm always disappointed when visiting Denny's and this time was Jo different. The food is always subpar and the restaurant inside needs some real TLC. This is at almost any and all locations I know. This time was no different. Next time my family suggests this place, I will decline.

Here were areas that had food on the floor, that never was swept the whole time we were there, and we were there for at least an hour. The building has got a lot of problems with it's up keep and it shows that the management is not doing anything to rectify the situation inside the restaurant. We thought we would visit for dinner at about 6 pm . Place was totally empty when we arrived; a very wait person say us and very nicely waited on us throughout. I had the two bratwurst with red cabbage and German potatoe salad . Now usually to me , bratwurst should be full juicy sausages of a considerable size . What I got was a little better than two hot dogs that were cut in two length wise. The potato salad was somewhat greasy and not too remarkable at all. The red cabbage was only passable. The whole thing seemed like it was warmed up from lunch , in that it came out surprisingly quickly and was tepid rather than hot. Microwaved maybe even. My partner had pork schnitzel, spaetzal and sauerkraut. The snitzel seemed ok though tepid . The serving size though was somewhat smaller than what their online pic showed but my wife said that she didn't need anything bigger . My wife said the spaetzal was good though I tasted it and thought it seemed warmed up. The oddest thing is that the sauerkraut was mixed up with mashed potatoes. The texture was weird and it was missing the tanginess of sauerkraut and , again, tasted warmed up. Is this a way to "stretch" sauerkraut of all things? The problem is they just started dinner service I guess in the last two weeks according to our server . On top of all this it was exorbitantly priced . Whereas I might visit during breakfast, I may not fit dinner for a while to where they can build a better experience. The waitress was very nice and accommodating.
