There's a ton of bars in Paris. This one's gimmick is that it's right by the lovely Seine River and has live music playing. When you enter this place, you will mostly see black and red. Black because the place is dark, and red because of the red lights. The performers on stage can be rather loud, so this isn't the place to have quiet talk with your friends. Now I'm not the type of person who splurges on alcoholic beverages, so my experience here is going to be comparatively limited. But you should still come to a bar to have fun, right?
This is one of those bars where you sit at a table and the waiter comes to you, which is cool. Trying to be parsimonious, I ordered a single shot of some banana drink. It was 4,50€ and surely tasted like banana. One quick gulp of this yellow and somewhat opaque drink, and it was all gone just like that. But boy, did I want another! I know that shots aren't intended to last long, but it was kind of depressing having a small empty glass while some of my wealthier friends sipped away on their bigger drinks. If I'm not mistaken, that 4,50€ actually was the lowest price on the menu, but I know that the money is going to external factors.
The live musicians deserve a mention. There were two guys sitting on stools, holding guitars and with microphones in front of them. They were singing Ray Charles's "Hit the Road Jack," one of my personal favorites. The song makes a bit more sense when a woman sings it, but whatever. Occasionally, they would completely stop singing to let the audience fill in the "no more, no more, no more, no more" part, which I thought was a neat touch. Of course, the music was so loud that the listeners could have been singing along the whole time for all I know. And I don't think it would be fair if I spoiled any more of this place. It's a bar with something that sets it aside from more generic ones. This kind of place doesn't interest me that much, but if it appeals to you, why not check it out? read more
