Great little cafe inside the health food market in Cortland. Huge variety of products in the store. Cafe had soups, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, juices, and smoothies.i saw that they had a number of oatmeal options for breakfast as well. I chose items to create my own salad and had a PB Choc Banana Smoothie. Both were delicious and healthy. Too bad it costs so much to eat food that is good for you. Salad and smoothie came to almost $20. I am not used to really paying that much for my lunches, but at least I was not eating junk! Tasted really good and the server was very nice.

I went to the cafe today for the third time since they opened about a year ago. I wasn't a huge fan initially; to be fair, they were still getting their bearings. After today's trip, I'm happy to say this will most likely become one of my regular spots for lunch when I'm in Cortland for work/school. Pros: friendly staff, vast selection of sandwiches, paninis, salads and breakfast foods, great housemade breads, plenty of seating, and conveniently located. I had the roasted eggplant panini with vegan dill potato salad and some blackberry ginger- infused water and all of it was exceptional. Cons: Not so much of a con as it is a bummer, but it is a bit pricey. Some of the sandwiches list for as much as $12.49 which makes it a bit less practical for those of us on a budget. You really can't argue with fresh, locally sourced food though. Overall, the cafe has really brought something to Cortland that it previously lacked-- serving the community with a conscience and in the name of better health. I will certainly be back soon to try some of their breakfast items!

Mixed greens salad and tomato basil soup- both amazing!

Such a cute little cafe hidden inside a health food store!!! Super fresh ingredients and healthy options. You can create your own salad if you want! Dressings are homemade & delicious!

This is a cafe inside a health food co-op. They have a selection of sandwiches, wraps, paninis and breakfast. They also have a build your own salad option, which is better than your average salad. Everything is fresh and delicious and there are vegan options.

My husband and I stopped in on the way from Canada to Long Island. I found it while searching vegan places nearby while we were driving. Love this place even from walking in. Many options for vegan vegetarian and gluten free. It is a market with a cute cafe. I built a salad at the cafe and then bought a vegan wrap to go. My husband got the Vermonter sandwich and it was amazing. I posted two photos of the menu so hopefully someone can enjoy this short stop like we did.

My daughter requested the mango lassi smoothie instead.

The cafe is a cute idea but it's way overpriced and everything I got was just ok. Probably won't be back.

She gave us four small cups of water. I went back to ask for a refill of water and a larger cup for the water. She told me those cups were for lattes only. I told her we just spent $60 in here, could I please have a plastic cup of water. She then got combative, raised her voice and yelled. "You are being rude to me. You need to stop." This was done in front of other customers and my children who were frightened by her reaction. I have never had such a rude interaction at a restaurant. It is clear she was having a bad day or was extremely emotional for some reason however, she shouldn't bring that to a place of business. Thankfully, after this interaction, she stormed out of the coffee area and did not return. Another employee had to man the barista station. I would not recommend this place.

The watermelon flavor came through just enough to where it wasn't overpowering. I shared a waygu burger and fries with my dad and it was definitely more than enough food. The snack shack was packed but my food came out super quick and warm, the staff definitely knew how to handle a crowd!! We ended the night with a few cider donuts and a beautiful view!! Beak and skiff is definitely worth the hype, everyone needs to come at least once, and definitely for a concert!

We were given a drink ticket with our admission ticket (which was around $50). The event usually does sell out so it's wise to get tickets well in advance if able. We were given bags to collect eggs if needed. There were specific times to search for eggs and collect prizes so that seemed pretty organized. There was live music and a heavy snack buffet bar that included quesadillas, fried pickles, BBQ chicken sliders, and potato salad. I won a bottle of flavored vodka, some candy, and a dozen donuts (that I have to return for). It was a fun twist on a childhood Easter activity with a few opportunities to win something fun. Just be advised that you may need to return some of the prizes.

Let me tell you, Yelpers, there's a reason why Carol's has a rare nearly 5.0 rating from 70…read morereviewers as of today. Or perhaps I should say "reasons" why. To start, this place has such a genuine small-town vibe, it's almost surreal. Live music, artwork from locals, the hand-lettered signs on the bakery items on display. I've made it a custom to stop in Owego about once a year, although I missed it last year. This year, I went about 20 miles (each way) out of my way to visit this gem of a coffee, sandwich, and bake shop. I found a parking space right in front, and immediately the live singer/guitarist could be heard from a speaker at the front door, but unobtrusively, delivering a very professional sounding "Brown Eyed Girl." I think that was the same song he was singing when I last visited two years ago. I was greeted by the staff like I had only been away two days, and the singer glanced my way and nodded a welcome as though he, too, remembered me. The coffee mug is perhaps the largest I've ever seen, and the DaVinci egg salad sandwich was also generously executed (recommendation: spring for the olives for an extra 25 cents). On the way out, I picked up two Dream Bars (a peanut butter and a coconut) to prolong the Carol's experience for just a bit. Yes, there's a reason, too, why they're called Dream Bars.

I'm definitely a fan any…read morecafe or similar space that integrates art into their environment, and there were quite a variety of lovely pieces at Carol's - many by the owner, but also included are other local artists. The menu, of course, also has "Carol's Favorite 'Comfort Food' Sandwiches" on the menu, all named after famous artists. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a huge Van Gogh fan, so I ordered the "Van Gogh" sandwich that comes with oven roasted turkey breast layered on sourdough bread and lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The sandwich was good, but I have to say that proportions of the ingredients felt a bit off. I also noticed during the prep of my plate that the chips came from opening a bag (a bulk version similar to ripple chips you'd just buy at the store). In a cafe space like this, you can't necessarily expect people to be making everything from scratch... but I think it's just helpful to note to keep expectations in line. The drink that I ordered was made well (their beverage selection is at the very back of the menu). You can definitely tell that this is a community space, and it seemed like a number of locals filtered in throughout the lunch. There are notes on the tables that advise of a 90 minute limit for sitting at the table (not something I've ever actually seen before), and there's wifi available for use by customers. Perhaps an awkward experience was just related to the overall service? You grab a menu and choose your table if you're dining in, but you end up paying at the counter. Personally, if I'm going to sit down to eat then I'd prefer to have the check brought to the table and pay that way. The space is a bit cramped by the counter, so it seems like it'd benefit to minimize the foot traffic that has to wait there. And perhaps this is silly, but upon paying for the lunch, the server handed me my receipt and said "Just sign here", and then seemed to be somewhat... abrupt? I feel like I'm pretty low maintenance when dining out, but it just left me going "OH. Okay. Time for me to get out of the way" (it's worth noting that at the time, there was nobody waiting around, or to get to, the counter). Still, it was enjoyable to stop at Carol's Coffee & Art Bar. It's a more unique space with nice offerings.
