I was in Whiz-Q twice the last two weeks and both times Lane loaded me out. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He showed me exactly where to go to pick up my materials, asked if I had any questions, and offered excellent solutions to the challenges I faced installing the rock and spreading the dirt I bought. Being a multi-unit retail manager for 30 years I know good customer service and Lane provided it. I would also like to give a quick shout out to both Mash and DiJon for their help as well. We use them a lot of the business I work for which does a LOT of hardscaping. Today I needed to see about samples for the 1/4" Pumice stone, Lava rock, or even expanded Shale, tho they don't carry any of that, especially not in that small of a size. I can't recall his name, but I usually talk to the same guy and he's always so friendly. All of the construction makes this a horrible journey to get to, once onsite, be prepared for a lot of dust getting stirred up. The road base is gravel and very dusty. They do have tons of rock, stone, brick, and other hard and soft scraping materials, for personal or commercial bulk. They also deliver. read more

Do you need a rock? Or lots of rocks? Glenda has started painting river rocks and is actually quite good! Surprise! Getting the right rocks at Hobby Lobby or Michael's or Lowe's got expensive real quick. The Lowe's guy told us about Whiz-Q Stone. When we drove in, I knew this would take a while. Any kind of rock you could possibly want. Any size and any quantity. I had a seat and played WWF while she "shopped". Different sizes are different prices so you have to keep them separate. Well, 50 lbs of rock later, she's happy and we can head home. The staff was great. Showed us where to look and then weighed the rock for us. Thanks Whiz-Q. I'm pretty sure we'll be back! Good selection. Too many people standing around but we went on a Saturday morning. Tons of rock to pick from but we ended up at Rocky's.

The customer service was amazing. All of the staff was extremely accommodating and very polite. They took the time to sit down and help me come up with the exact amount of stone that I would need without trying to charge me for more than I needed. Their prices were very reasonable as well. As a kid, my Mom, sister and I always drove past this place! I remember, asking my Mom what is that? Not sure what she said. Since, I'm adulting now, I was really excited to venture around. Since, I was working on building a rock garden and the Owner of Guardardo Landscaping recommended I try this place. Now would be a good time, not just drive by, but to actually price White River Rocks. That's just what I did. Before entering the spacious and well air-conditioned office, I was distracted by an overflowing waterfall. It was really beautiful! Very similar to the one at Southwestern Seminary. There are lots of rock displays to take pictures of. I climbed on a few and felt like a kid again. It's also very nice to take pictures here. I finally made my way into the office. They had quite a few customers. The guy at the counter resembled a rock star and had customer service skills like a rock star! He was mindful of my time. He was keeping it brief with the previous customer so, he can help me out. He was multi tasking. He was busy answering the phone, quickly typing on a vintage keyboard that was clicking away and trying to figure out what I was saying. Lol. He gave me some suggestions on some rocks. He quoted me a price of $21.87. The size was for a 10x20 with 2 inches deep. He suggested, I look at them before, I buy them. I thought, that was really nice of him. I declined his offer and he was still very nice about it. Couldn't get myself to pay that much for a bag of rocks. Lol. Wonderful selection at great prices. This is my second time at whiz-q and again I am floored with the wonderful customer service that they offer. This place offers anything from stone for your garden to huge palettes. It's pretty easy, weigh your car with no stone, go pick your stone then weigh your car again with the stone. You really can't go wrong here, and they are open six days a week vs. the usual 5 that other stone yards are open. We will be back! read more

I've been here several times to buy flagstones and cobblestones for small diy landscaping projects and every time I've gotten excellent customer service. I'm used to going to places like hardware stores where they don't give you the time of day or act like they're too busy for you. Not here. They've always greeted me pleasantly when I go up to the counter and they don't hesitate to walk with me outside to show me where all the products are. One of the gentlemen even told me that the whole place is on 22 acres. That's pretty big for a place so close by. I've compared prices at other stores but there's not much of a difference so I'd rather not drive too far since I would have to haul the heavy rocks all the way back home. My next trip will be to get some big boulders to put around the pool. I just need to figure out how I would lift it off the truck when I get home. read more

Great for a large selection of landscape materials ranging from mulch of various colors and materials, various rock materials. Anything from sand, pea gravel, up to larger sizes of boulders. If you're wanting to do it yourself just bring your truck and they will weight your truck prior to loading and weight again for the rock weight. I also suggest that you keep them in mind for your Christmas lighting needs. I have used them the last 2 years for my lighting needs. Great colors and prices. Lastly, I have recently decided to start remodeling my koi pond. Again, the koi options were vast. From small to large. Various colors and species. The hours tend to change often. Still our go to place. We got water feature and stone. Also beach round stones for zen garden. It is good for big or small amounts.

After a miscommunication and getting the rocks delivered, they saved my ass and are helping us get the right rocks out to the site. They really wanted to help fix the problem despite my harsh judgement. Pat was great, really helpful and nice about the situation and I really appreciate them helping us fix this error. Huge selection and great prices. You can drive around to find what you need or ask for help. Along the left side of the building is where you pull up (like a drive thru) to have your vehicle's starting weight registered. Then after you've loaded up (presumably with the same stone loaded onto your vehicle as the prices vary), you go back to be weighed and you get a ticket to take inside to pay. They have tons of material like dirt, sand, mulch, water fountains, pots and other decorative items. You can get great ideas and help planning out whatever you have in mind. They don't offer help to load so take the help with you if needed. The stones are in huge piles - depending on the type of stone- so wear appropriate shoes and be careful. Never had any issues, but always best to be cautious. read more

Really great place to get all kinds of decorative stone for your landscape. We've been there several times and the selection is pretty amazing. We also got some really good ideas on cool water features. They have some great displays set up. Made me want to come home & start digging a new pond! Pricing isn't too bad, but make sure you know how much you're getting before you weigh in after loading. We ended up spending a lot more than we originally planned. read more

If your needs allow you to drive to Whiz-Q's material yard, pick out material on your own, load the material on your truck yourself, and drive yourself over to the window so they can take your money, this place will probably work for you. However, if the material you desire (and they offer on their website) needs to be ordered from somewhere else, you are probably better off finding another source. Or buying a quarry and digging the stone out of the ground yourself. I spent 3+ months unsuccessfully waiting for them to fulfil an order for natural stone veneer (an El Dorado product) - an interesting journey that seems to indicate that Whiz-Q is, in fact, incapable of acquiring the product that they advertise on their website. It's pretty evident that they do not have an order tracking system that tracks order status or would flag orders that are taking longer than one would expect to arrive. Therefore, it's up to you to call and check - often - since Whiz-Q will never call you (as noted by other reviewers). After waiting more than a reasonable amount of time, I started calling to check on arrival and responses received to my calls relative to when I'd see the material included: "In a few days...", "A couple of weeks...", "It will be here on Monday" (never happened), "It's on a truck on its way over from Irving... " (apparently not), "It's in Irving...", "Ummmm...". It's kinda like they have a random answer list posted by their phones to cover up the fact that they really don't know when anything will be arriving. Except for me calling them, I'm convinced that they would have kept my money forever and never noticed that they never fulfilled the order. I finally had enough and got a refund. Hopefully I never have to do business with Whiz-Q again. I'll probably also drop El Dorado a courtesy note that they look into finding a different DFW distributor since Whiz-Q's incompetence is probably costing them money in this marketplace. read more

This is one of the largest stone yards around that I have been to. They had everything from stone to koi fish. Unfortunately there customers service and delivery service fell way short. Alls I can say is make sure your at the job site or else they will just drop it anywhere, even after strict instructions. And when I called back to try and have them come back to move it they basically told me I was out of luck. I rarely write bad reviews, but now I have 2 tons of stone I have to move by hand. read more

I am a massage therapist so I went up there looking for a place to choose my own river rocks to use for my hot stone massages. They had an abundance of what I was looking for, and even though we were there 15 minutes till closing, they were so patient and helpful and I spent less than $10 and NO SHIPPING cost! Our first review ever. We visited Whiz-Q for some stepping stones and ideas for 2 rock benches. We picked out a pallet of Oklahoma flagstone for stepping stones and 2 huge beautiful cut stones for the bench seats and a few more smaller cut stone pieces for the base of the benches. Our first thought when talking to Wayne is that they had a person available to help cut and set our stone for the bench seat that weights 200-300lbs?? but no, they give you a list on contractors...ok, my misunderstanding. When it was time to start my project for the stepping stones, the first two layers of stone had the nice large pieces I fully expected to use for my path(s) but as I got farther in the pallet, the stones were much smaller and by what I could tell, the once larger stones had broken (looks as if the pallet had been dropped). I called Patrick for help and sent pictures of all the SMALL stones. He emailed back saying the stones did look smaller than usual and he would get back with me after he talked to his purchaser...nothing. I called back and talked to him again and he got the purchaser on the phone ( I think it was Wayne - our sales person ). He immediately tried to tell me that the smaller pieces fill in the gaps between the larger pieces, well- I got that- but there are NO MORE LARGER pieces for the small ones to fit in between. So he said he would get back with me too...NOTHING. I then got my husband to call- now, NEITHER of the two men were available and they would take our number and leave them a message for them to call back, again...NOTHING. Because your dealing with such HEAVY items and paid lots of money for delivery they have you at a disadvantage. I wish I had known more about the company before I purchased- my project has been on hold and there is no telling when or how this might be resolved. read more

Monday I was trying to find about 100sq of zig zag pavers, so I called Whiz Q. I spoke with a young man that seemed lost in discussing this particular paver. I took pictures and emailed them to him. His response was that no one makes this paver any more and tried to up sell me on other products. I concluded the call asking for him to help research the paver and see if any other vendors carried it. About 30 minutes later, I got an email from him with a link to INDIA! I sent an email back questioning what it was about and if they shipped...got no response. Tuesday I found that this type of paver is made by Pave Stone, which is a large commercial dealer for all things paving and specialty stone related items in Grapevine. I called, got the item number, tracked down the price and then called Whiq Q back. Patrick had no clue what was going on. I walked him through the exact person to call and what item code was needed. Finally, he got the order placed and it was supposed to be delivered today. Well, they no called, no showed. Wednesday they had not gotten the pavers from Grapevine and were not going to get them unless I paid a pallet charge of $15 after I had already paid. After several phone calls, I told him to ship them or I was going to cancel. They waved the pallet charge. In total, I paid $412 which included a $95 delivery fee. What a rip off - the driver had 17 pallets, all from Pave Stone in Grapevine. They made it sound like they were sending one truck to get this load for special delivery for one pallet. Come to find out, there were 17 on this one flat bed 18 wheeler. Poor customer service skills --- Over priced --- checked Home Depot and delivery would have been free and the incidental costs not included. The total would have been $285 total for 100sq ft. This stone yard has put my guys and I on the back burner for the last time! Instead of going into detail on the three separate occasions I will stick to the one today. I had my guys at the stone yard to order 20 tons of Oklahoma chopped stone for an upcoming last minute order. They were at the yard for 2 and a half hours getting stone picked out without the help of any employees. After the two hours of waiting to get someone out there my guys informed the yard guys what they needed. The office people told them they were too busy to help us right now but they would give us a call later in the day to let us know when to come back and finish setting up delivery. Obviously now that call never came through, so it will be another day delay of getting in the delivery line, which will result in an entire weekend wait which will cause starting issues to arise. Don't turn away clients by telling them you are just too busy with other people to deal with them. There are other ways to handle being busy, especially being in retail! read more

While we were trying to ask questions about pave stone, the salesperson was more interested in playing on his computer. He wouldn't leave the counter to show where specific types of pave stone were located. I went to the office and they kindly told me what to do to get my river stone. I took my ticket out and parked by them and asked for help once the gentleman was done helping another man. Everything seemed fine. Then another truck pulled up and he helped them. Then another truck pulled up and he helped them. Then yet another truck pulled up and he started over to help them and I looked back to see several trucks now forming a line of which I should have been in front. I closed my truck up, drove back to the office and handed them back their ticket. The nice person at the counter asked if they loaded me up and I told him what happened. I'm just watching everyone else get helped. Then I handed him the ticket and drove off. Rockies is worth the drive... Everyone else comes first because he was closer to them? I don't even know what to say! Today is July 30, 2015 and I made my purchase on April 19. I paid 2k for a 3 stone fountain and river rock. It was delivered a couple of days later and a young man from Whiz Q came on out that afternoon and started digging a hole for the water reservoir. Never finished. I have called out there 4 times, my lawn service Lawn Birgade were nice enough to go and try to get the missing parts for the fountain. They gave him the wrong parts. I went out 2 more times. Mike told me to take 1 more picture and send it to his personal phone and he would either mail it, drop it off, or send it UPS. That was 3 weeks ago!! Still nothing!! Zero customer service!! You can walk up to the counter and all 3 people keep talking and will not engage you. Very frustrating!! This fountain is in my front yard and the HOA keeps asking me to complete. I don't have the parts or any idea how to complete it!!! read more
