Shout out to the really nice server we had today, Daniel, ... we got to try several of their tasty flavors. Apparently the person who taught Wentworth in Hamden makes ice cream in avon for this place. All flavors are tasty, but they copped out (offered a purchased brand, not their own) on a few flavors like classic vanilla and chocolate. Done right, a really good classic flavor (like vanilla and chocolate) can taste awesome, ... wish they tried instead of having a purchased brand. I had mint Oreo, it was yum, also tried their cookie dough and graham slam w chocolate covered graham crackers. I would definitely come back.

a cup of ice cream and a spoon

why can't there be an option for zeros stars. they done accept cash. place was empty that should have said something. the girl was so bothered that she had to take care of customers. the whipped cream was BAD. like spoiled. we didn't even want to "bother" the already annoyed girl so we scooped it off. i've cream was a seriously nothing to waste money on. go to a different place or get ice cream from the store and have it home. I will never come back, not a chance in hell. such a shame.

We wish they also had soft serve. Their ice cream isn't bad. Prices a little high but that's everywhere now.

There are so many options for toppings (and I got a MOUNTAIN of cookie dough bits as mine) and so many interesting icecream flavors.

"U.J." Kriz. The brothers were trained farriers (craftsmen who shoe horses) as well as blacksmiths. They were legends in the farrier world and shoed the Budweiser Clydesdales as well as Japanese Emperor Hirohito's white Arabian stallion during World War II. Johnny passed away in 1996 and U.J. followed him in 2010. Today the farm is run by Johnny's son Tim. The Kriz family opened an ice cream shop on the farm in July 2021 (that carries ice cream from Gifford's in Maine as well as Buck's in Milford) to help sustain the farm business. Horse-drawn wagon rides are operated from the Halloween to Christmas season. My family and I recently visited Kriz Farm for the first time. The place was all decorated for Christmas with plenty of fresh cut trees for sale. There was a large fire pit area for customers to sit at and keep warm as well as a reproduction of Santa's sleigh for photo opportunities. We mainly visited the farm because we heard that they are one of the last places in the state to offer real horse-drawn wagon rides in an era where everyone else is now using tractors. We had a nice ride around the property with two horses named Rocky and Luke. There's a large pile of horseshoes that they had decorated to look like a horseshoe Christmas tree. Afterwards we headed to the ice cream parlor and ordered a small cup with a scoop of "Smoreo" and a scoop of "Peppermint Stick" as well as a delicious "Eggnog Milkshake" that was garnished with a Gingerbread Man Mug Hanger. The farm also had several clever handmade crafts for sale that would make great Christmas gifts, including some fancy charcuterie boards. We had a really nice experience at Kriz Farm and would definitely return!

The location originally opened as a Carvel ice cream shoppe in 1957, before being rebranded as "Bill's Carousel" two years later. Since 2008, the establishment has been owned by E.J. Akdeniz, who purchased it from Bill's widow. Akdeniz has no idea what the "carousel" in the ice cream parlor's name refers to, but after talking ownership he put a vintage carousel horse on display next to the order window. He acquired the horse in New Jersey after an old carousel had been dismantled. The biggest seller at Bill's is their soft serve ice cream (24 flavors to be exact), but the menu also features hard ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes & floats, frozen yogurt, Italian ice, slushies, smoothies, flurries, ice cream cakes, and even hot foods like hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. My family and I recently stopped for ice cream at Bill's Carousel while we were passing through New Haven's Westville neighborhood. My wife lived in an apartment in Westville when we first began dating. We used to make walks down to Bill's often to enjoy their delicious ice cream. Bill's was a seasonal ice cream parlor for several years, but it is now open year-round. On this particular visit, we parked in the lot and ordered from the order window. We all ended up getting cups of hard ice cream. I had "Pumpkin", my wife had "Peach", my older son had "Cotton Candy", and my younger son had "Vanilla". Regardless of what type of frozen treat (or even hot treat) that you order at Bill's, you won't be disappointed.
