My husband and I agreed that Photography would be one of the items we expected to spend a little bit more on for our wedding. We met with several photographers & told each one exactly what we were looking for: unique, non-stuffy, vibrant, fun photos. After meeting with Whitney, my husband and I both arrived at the same conclusion on our own, a mighty feat, mind you: Whitney Lee possessed the professional gear, the technical photography skills, as well as the aesthetics and style we were looking for. In fact, she really struck a chord with us the first time we met. She was very professional and asked many questions about us as a couple as well as what we wanted in our pictures. This told me she was truly out to tell our story through photos. Our engagement session was fun & Whitney gave us enough direction to ensure beautiful pictures while at the same time, letting us be ourselves. She is very realistic with timing and location-hopping. On our wedding day, I was so happy to see her tactfully and assertively "herd" our guests so that all the formals we wanted were photographed. The candids came out beautiful. The photobooth area she and her 2nd photographer setup was fun for the guests, and those who took photos in it came out with some outstanding professional portraits. Afterwards, Whitney does take 2 months or more, to work on the photos, but it is absolutely worth the wait. My husband and I are so happy with them and everyone who has seen them express how much they are blown away by how beautiful they are. Whitney Lee Photography (we used Whitney herself!) is sure to be the most stress-free, biggest return on investment you will make in your wedding and events leading up to it. I just got our final pictures and feel compelled to gush all over her! :) She traveled to Dallas for our engagement pics and let us decide a lot - outfits, venue, props - but we didn't decide so much that it felt like she was just there snapping mindless pics. She took creative control without taking over. She gave guidance but we still felt like ourselves. And the results of the engagements were, as one of my friends put it, "freakishly beautiful." The wedding was equally easy. Of all the occasions surrounding the nuptials that we needed someone to be in control, she was perfect in gently prodding, staging, and guiding family, friends, grandparents, parents and all the melee that was going on around us into these perfect pictures. We got a wonderful balance of staged, formal pictures and some super amazing candids that, like I said, appear in all of the wedding blogs you are sure to be perusing and thinking "I want my wedding to look just like that." And she does it. One of my favorite examples: she and her partner came up with (on the fly) a make-shift photo booth using two vintage chairs that I had originally staged as nothing more than decoration. Hands down the most fun pictures - and they still reflected our personality by using the vintage chairs and also in making all of our guests feel special too. What else can I say? After researching photographers online we scheduled our one and only meeting with Whitney Lee. She gladly met with us half way since we drove from San Antonio. We booked Whitney immediately after our meeting since we were highly confident in her abilities. An aspect of wedding planning that can be frustrating is corresponding with your vendors. No worries with Whitney as she responded quickly to emails throughout the months leading to the wedding. We had a lot of fun during our engagement session, as Whitney made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. Initially, I was unsure of shooting bridal portraits. However, I am so glad I did! Whitney is an amazing photographer, and I can't imagine having anyone else shoot our wedding this coming November. Shortly after we became engaged, I proposed the idea of an engagement shoot to my fiance, P.J., who was less than enthused. To make it a little more interesting, I suggested that we do a "Mad Men" inspired photo shoot complete with 50's/60's attire and a fabulous venue, The Highball (in Austin). We found Whitney through a friend of my dad's and we were SO thrilled with our choice. One of the best things is how you OWN the photos when she is done. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg to get the entire set of photos. She gave a discount for our wedding being on a Friday, which offset the fee for her to travel out of town for our wedding. We came to Austin to do our engagement photos because we had friends there and we knew she would know the perfect spots. She did! What a beautiful location she chose! She made us both feel so at ease, and she even made my fiance comfortable getting his photos taken, which is really hard to do. After doing much research, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted Whitney to shoot our wedding. My daughter chose Whitney because of her journalistic approach to shooting weddings. She didn't want a bunch of posed photos, she wanted photos that captured the emotions of the day, the interactions between the wedding party and their guests. And that's what we got -- fabulous candids (and some unconventional and lovely posed shots). There is a photo of bride and me (MOB) hugging in the bride's room before the wedding, me fighting back tears of joy. I tear up just looking at the picture. And, remarkably, I don't remember the phtographer even being in the room.
