I am going to be honest, when Adam and I were looking for a photographer for our wedding, we wanted to hire a photographer who could take really good photos of people of color and a photographer cool with shooting a gay wedding. Looking through many of the photographers in the Austin area listed on The Knot, most of the photos that were highlighted were gorgeous of course but they were photos of a lot of white couples. Maybe that's a weird request but truly not every photographer is good at taking photos of black people. When we finally decided to hire Eddie of Raven & Hare, I had high hopes. Their photos are absolutely stunning. We had a phone meeting as an introduction and we vibed immediately. Good vibes are important for a potentially stressful day. Prior to the wedding we sent a list of all of the photos we felt we needed (family photos, wedding party photos, first looks, etc). We decided to shoot all of the photos before the guests arrived so we didn't have to chase anyone after the ceremony. Day of the wedding, Eddie was efficient and amazing. He was very clear in direction and with the help of our coordinator, we were able to make sure everyone was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. The whole evening was amazing and I don't know how he worked the room like he did but it was like he was able to be in multiple places at once, capturing the moments with ease. After the wedding, while on our honeymoon we received an email with a few highlights and we were BLOWN AWAY by how the photos turned out and also how fast he was getting them back to us. Eddie was absolutely fantastic to work with. He responds to any communication quickly, is extremely cordial and refreshingly polite. I really enjoyed working with him before the wedding- he is based out of Austin and our wedding was in Boerne (hill country outside of San Antonio.) He drove in to meet my now husband and I to go over all the wedding details, which was really nice to get to know him before the wedding! The day of the wedding, he showed up early to get all the details before photographing myself and the bridesmaids getting ready. He was so friendly and energetic with all the wedding party and family and really did a wonderful job of capturing it all. We just got our photos and my husband and I and are families are just blown away! We did have a large family and it was very overwhelming taking family photos, so I would advise to have someone be a point person to direct people and family so it reduces your stress and provides Eddie the opportunity to capture everything quicker! He's fun and quirky and has a fabulous eye!! If you need a great photographer for your event/wedding, Eddie is the man for the job. I met with him about 4-5 months prior to Wedding day where we set up timelines, must have shots, and other details. Some of his packages come with either a free bridal session, or engagement session. Since we already had done an engagement session, I chose to do bridals! Immediately, working with Eddie was so easy. He makes you feel so comfortable and makes the whole session fun! He will go above and beyond to get the best shots. I was also surprised by how quickly he got my bridal shots back to me! Once the big day came Eddie and his wife Jordan worked flawlessly. I was worried that my husband was going to get tired/annoyed of taking pictures... but even he said that Eddie made it a good time! I loved that during our photo session in between the ceremony and reception he would coach us on what expressions to make, it made it quick and easy! We hired Eddie to photograph our ceremony and reception on 11/25/15. We were between him and one other photographer, who was more expensive. When we showed his work and the other photographer's work to all of our friends and family to help us choose, every single one chose Eddie. We are so happy that they did because he did a fantastic job. He met with us prior to the wedding to get a feel for what we were looking for. Then on the day of, he was early to the venue, scoped it out and knew exactly what shots he wanted taken. I am not photogenic. In fact, I am really terrified of the camera but he managed to make me feel comfortable and look beautiful and I'm so thankful for that. When it started to rain, he had a plan B in place and took some amazing photographs. He was also really patient with all of our family's requests for different photos. He had creative ideas and really worked in the background to get as many candid shots that he could. At the reception venue, he went out of his way to scope out the area and found this really cool alley for us to take photos in. One of my favorite shots from the day was taken there. My mother also fell in love with him and basically told him that he was now her son and would be a part of our family!
